The Supreme Soldier in the City-Chapter 172 Different Intentions
Chapter 172: Chapter 172 Different Intentions
Gina Lopez’s mind raced, wondering if Emily Lopez liked someone else, then it was fine for her to compete, regardless of success or failure, it didn’t concern her—but now the person in question was James Brown, which complicated matters significantly. What if James and Emily ended up together? How would she face going home? How could she, as the older sister, stay in this family?
Frowning, Gina Lopez helplessly said, "Emily, have you ever thought about what our parents would think if you and James got together and we went back home?"
Emily Lopez shrugged off the concern with pride, "Just tell them the truth. Since you don’t want your brother-in-law, naturally, I have the right to fight for him. Besides, I think our parents actually like him quite a lot. They won’t be upset if I steal him to be my husband."
Gina suddenly turned her head and glared hatefully at James Brown, then turned back to Emily and gritted her teeth, "Fine, Emily, I’m telling you now, I want to be with James, so you better give up this idea!"
Suddenly dumbfounded, James didn’t know what to make of the situation. It was one thing for Emily to act up, but Gina was also pulling this stunt.
Emily sprang up furiously, "Gina, can you not, you said you two were fake, and now you want to stir up trouble!"
Gina, holding her shoulders, regained her composed CEO demeanor, "Though James and I were fake before, after living together for so long, I find he’s actually quite nice. He can cook, protect me, and even my parents like him. He’s also very considerate; he took care of me all night when I was sick. I’m not really one to look after the household, being with him, I think I’d be very happy."
Emily, infuriated to the point of despair, shouted, "You’re so despicable, clearly saying you didn’t want him, but now that you see I do, you come to compete with me."
Gina gave a faint smile, "I can yield to you in other areas, but not in this matter. I will never back down."
Emily, seething with rage as if ready to fight to the death, shouted, "Gina! I’m telling you, I won’t back down."
"Neither will I!" Gina declared, cool and collected.
Emily and Gina faced off like two fighting roosters, their equally beautiful eyes locked in fierce battle, almost sparking fire against each other.
James had remained silent, feeling more like he was in a game rather than anything real.
Unexpectedly, the battle suddenly involved him when Emily quickly moved to James’s side, grabbing his arm and cooed, "Brother-in-law, tell me, don’t you enjoy being with me? Isn’t it relaxing and fun?"
Before James could respond, Gina had already sat on his other side, clutching his arm—not in Emily’s coquettish manner, but with a rare gentleness, "James, I’ve gotten used to having you in my life, so you must be with me."
Surrounded by two beautiful women, each on one side, a man’s soul might very well float away—especially since they were twins who looked nearly identical, the effect was utterly mesmerizing.
James looked at Gina, whose hand subconsciously tightened a bit, showing she was somewhat nervous.
Then turning to Emily, who pouted miserably, giving an impression that if James didn’t choose her, it would be as if he’d betrayed her from start to finish.
Grinning, James spoke, "Sorry, I already have a girlfriend, so... sorry about this."
Emily instantly retorted, "I don’t care, even if you have a girlfriend, you’re not married, so I’m definitely going to fight for you. I know you’ll end up liking me."
Gina’s eyebrows twitched slightly, "I won’t lose to anyone, including my own sister."
"Well, you guys fight then, I’m out of here." After saying this, James subtly shook his arm, freeing himself from their grasp, and quickly fled from Gina’s house.
After James left, Gina glared fiercely at Emily, while Emily returned the look with triumph, not bothering to avert her gaze.
"Emily, what the heck do you want?" Gina finally broke the silence.
Nonchalantly sitting back in the armchair on the couch, Emily leaned back, crossed her legs, and playfully swung her feet, "I’m not up to much; I just want to fight for the person I like."
Standing over her sister with an authoritative gaze, Gina questioned, "Didn’t you say you didn’t want to date so early? Why are you running over here then?"
Ignoring the pressure from her sister, Emily confidently retorted, "That was before I met someone worth liking. Now that I have, I want to date and even get married. What do you think about that?" Her eyebrows raised challengingly.
"You... fine, since you insist, I’ll have to be with him just to make sure you have no chance."
"So let’s see who Brother-in-law really likes."
"You said it yourself, he’s your brother-in-law, what’s there for you to fight over?"
"I want to, okay? Men like to play this game. When I sleep with him, calling him ’Brother-in-law’ will definitely excite him more. It’s a kind of thrill, do you understand?"
Gina Lopez’s face immediately darkened and she said angrily, "Emily Lopez, do you even know what shame is?"
"Of course I do. But when I’m with the man I love, even the most shameful things I can do, There’s a saying, isn’t there? A woman should act like a lady outside, that’s for giving men face, but in bed, she should be a slut. That’s what makes a man happy. Sister, you really do act like a lady outside, naturally so. In that respect, I’m not worse than you, but in bed... Hehe, you definitely can’t compete with me. No man would like a woman who’s still so proud in bed."
"Shut up!" Gina Lopez roared. Such a topic was something she couldn’t compete with Emily Lopez on. She really wanted to slap her sister hard, but in the end, she just stormed into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.
Lying in bed, Gina Lopez shook her head repeatedly. She felt somewhat absurd about her behavior today. Regarding James Brown, she could only say she felt a bit of fondness, and it wasn’t real emotions at all. Her words were completely forced by Emily Lopez. If Emily Lopez wanted to be with James Brown, no matter how troublesome it would be, she would definitely go for it. Gina knew her sister all too well. The only way to stop her was to be James Brown’s girlfriend herself. That would make Emily concede.
Although the sisters always quarreled, Gina knew that her sister could give way on really important issues. Like when they argued, it was mostly about differing views, but rarely did they fight over possessions.
Gina wanted to contact James Brown now to continue their act to pressure Emily into giving in, but she dismissed the thought. The reason was simple, it had already happened once, and pretending again, Emily would definitely see through it.
So she could only truly do it. Of course, Gina didn’t actually want to be James Brown’s girlfriend. As long as she could drive Emily away, when she wasn’t here, the problem would be not so severe.
At this moment, Emily Lopez sat up and peeked at her sister’s bedroom door, seeing that it was tightly closed, a sly smile appeared on her face, and she felt ecstatic inside.
She indeed admired James Brown, but she didn’t intend to start a romance with him. She preferred to make James become her brother-in-law. Today’s act was meant to push Gina up to a dead end, and clearly, her scheme was completely successful.
"Big sis, don’t blame me, okay? Such a great guy as Brother-in-law shouldn’t be snatched by anyone else. You have to try hard to make him my real brother-in-law soon." Emily Lopez made a cheering gesture towards her sister’s door, then started eating the cool cherries again.
At this time, James Brown had already left the neighborhood where Gina Lopez lived. He felt that Emily Lopez’s sudden declaration to be with him was just a spur-of-the-moment decision, aimed at Gina Lopez. However, he would never guess that Emily intended to actually have her sister be together with him, not just to upset her.
So James Brown didn’t take it to heart, considering it merely a quarrel between them, and he just happened to be the battlefield at that moment. Now that he was gone, the two sisters would surely make up soon.
When he got home, Emma Campbell had already left. The house was tidy, it almost looked like a hotel.
He took out his phone and called Emma Campbell.
"Lemon, have you reached school?" As soon as the call connected, James Brown asked caringly.
"I’ve arrived. I’m already in my dorm room." Emma Campbell’s soft voice came through the phone, sounding a bit low.
"Is it inconvenient to talk now? Then I’ll call you back later."
"It’s not that; my roommates are here." Emma Campbell hurriedly explained in a whisper. Then, a mix of noises came through the phone: "Lemon! Who is it... Lemon is blushing, seems like the person on the call is special to you... It couldn’t be your boyfriend, could it?"
James Brown now understood why Emma was blushing, but he didn’t interject, rather wanting to see how Emma would handle it.
"It’s not... It’s... Big Brother Brown, it was just my roommate teasing me. Please don’t be upset."
The noise in the background faded, probably as Emma Campbell moved out of the room.
James Brown chuckled softly and said, "It’s okay, I’m not upset. Are you not wanting to introduce me to your roommates?"
"It’s not that... I just didn’t want to bother you, Big Brother Brown."
"For my little girlfriend, no matter how busy, I should make time. Let me know when you’re free, and I’ll treat you and your roommates to a meal."
"Ah!" Emma first exclaimed in surprise, then immediately said joyfully, "Okay, I’ll tell them about it later."
