The Sword Deity in Tokyo-Chapter 197: Natsuna Yamanaka
An hour and a half later, Ryo Otake settled his matters and walked up to Kimura Kazuki, but before he could get a word out, Kimura Kazuki asked, "How is it?"
Hearing this, Ryo Otake took a puff from his cigarette and told him as clouds of smoke floated out of his mouth.
When they had rushed into the room earlier, they saw two people engaged in intercourse.
After investigation, and the discovery of the body from under the tree, Sato had confessed to everything.
Of the two people caught in intercourse in the room, the man's surname was Sato, and the woman's surname was Ogura, the body buried under the tree was Natsuna Yamanaka.
Of course, Sato had been the killer responsible for the corpse under the tree. After a better understanding of the situation, the police had deemed it a case of negligent homicide. Since Sato had buried the body under the tree after having mistakenly killed her, his crime had thus become more severe. The whole case did not involve Ogura much, she was unaware of any of this.
Based on Sato's confession, Natsuna Yamanaka had walked in on him cheating with another woman named Eri Shiratori. Natsuna Yamanaka had cried and thrown a tantrum after she saw it and wanted to bare it all out with Sato's parents. As a result, the two of them ended up arguing on the balcony. Sato had accidentally pushed her, and Natsuna Yamanaka fell from the second floor, landing on her head where she fell on a sharp stone and died on the spot.
Sato had been stupefied when he saw the scene, but after calming down, he thought that the most dangerous place would also be the safest, so he buried the body under the tree in the courtyard.
As for Eri Shiratori... Ryo Otake extinguished the cigarette with a stomp of his foot as he said with a complicated tone, "That Eri Shiratori was the first woman who died half a year ago. Back then, not only was Eri Shiratori dating Sato, but she also had two other boyfriends and had a close relationship with another man." After that, he looked at Kimura Kazuki and asked with a puzzled tone, "How did you find the body?"
Truth be told, when he received the call earlier and heard what Kimura Kazuki said, he had not been able to give an immediate reaction.
The body of the killer? What the hell?
However, when he thought about the fact that the case he was dealing with was a supernatural one, he did not ask any more questions through the phone. Instead, he contacted the police station in Spirit District, calling in three patrol cars and surrounded the residential house that Kimura Kazuki was in heavily.
Then, Sato was arrested.
Kimura Kazuki did not answer him. Instead, he asked, "Didn't Natsuna Yamanaka's parents call the police when she went missing?"
Ryo Otake knew that Kimura Kazuki was not willing to talk to him about that, so he did not mention it again. However, he was still very amazed at Kimura Kazuki's methods, but at the same time, he also felt a trace of fear.
Pondering upon this, he shook his head as he replied, "No. Natsuna Yamanaka was an orphan, she had been dating Sato for five years and they had started discussing about marriage. After Sato accidentally killed Ms. Yamanaka, he used her phone to message to her boss to resign and then told his parents that he and Ms. Yamanaka broke up, so no one reported Ms. Yamanaka's missing." As he spoke, he sighed, "There are actually a lot of cases regarding missing people every year, so when no one reports it to the police, everything goes unquestioned."
As for Eri Shiratori, Sato told her to go back after they had been caught cheating. The two of them had not contacted each other after that, so she had no idea that Sato had killed Natsuna Yamanaka.
As he spoke, Ryo Otake asked in grievance, "To be honest, I found it all very strange. If it was Ms. Yamanaka's wraith that killed Eri Shiratori and all those women, then why is Sato still alive and well? Didn't she hate him?"
It had been Sato who killed Natsuna Yamanaka, and yet Sato was still alive, which puzzled Ryo Otake. It was totally different from the settings of wraiths in horror films!
Kimura Kazuki did not remain silent this time. He said softly, "Perhaps Miss Yamanaka hated Sato even when she was alive, but she hated Eri Shiratori more because it was Shiratori who tore her family apart."
Natsuna Yamanaka was an orphan and had probably yearned for kinship badly. She might have hated Sato, but she hated the mistress, Shiratori, even more.
Modern society often ignored the fact that the male was also involved in the affair. When a mistress was caught, the wife would blame her and take it upon her. Many netizens did not understand, but it was actually easy to make sense of it, because the wife and the scumbag were married, and having a family meant that it would always be a top priority to protect their marriage. Many aspects had to be considered for a divorce, and not everyone would choose divorce as the ultimate option, so the wife would hate the mistress even more and vent all the negative emotions out on the mistress instead of the husband.
Therefore, after Natsuna Yamanaka had become a demon, she went for Eri Shiratori first. To Natsuna Yamanaka, Sato's family was her family too, and Eri Shiratori had come in between them even though she knew that. In Natsuna Yamanaka's eyes, she could not be forgiven.
However, judging from the information, Natsuna Yamanaka had been dead for a year, but Eri Shiratori died half a year ago.
This puzzled Kimura Kazuki. The formation of a demon was caused by hatred after death, where emotions and thoughts were wrapped in negative emotions so that all that was left would be an instinctive consciousness, meaning that a demon usually had no thoughts or logic of its own. Forming a self-aware consciousness would require the demon absorbing reiki instinctively for a very long time. In that sense, it was not like a spirit that possessed obsessiveness after death that was uninfluenced by negative emotion. Hence, a spirit would have a clear mind of its own.
However, Natsuna Yamanaka gained consciousness of her own in only half a year and started killing intentionally half a year ago. It was apparent that Natsuna Yamanaka seemed to hate women who had multiple relationships with men at the same time, and that was why all the women she killed were cheaters. These were all normal. The thing that made Kimura Kazuki feel unusual was the speed of her growth, it was too fast.
From her death to her process of becoming a demon and then to gaining her own consciousness, it had all happened within just half a year.
"What now?" Ryo Otake interrupted Kimura Kazuki's thoughts. He had completely placed his hopes on him. The case was actually simple wherein a woman hated female cheaters, so she started her path of revenge against them.
Yet, if it had been a normal case, he would have solved it by now, but the killer was inhuman, which rendered him helpless.
Kimura Kazuki said heavily, "Tell your officers to check the residence in the area, ask around to see if there had been any strange cases in the past year."
After Natsuna Yamanaka died and became a demon, she had no self-consciousness, so she would have reaped lives based on her instinct. Kimura Kazuki was trying to find out whether there were any other murders in the past year if there were none... it would be interesting. His mind already had guessed.
"Very well, I'll let you know the day after tomorrow." Ryo Otake would have been okay with everything that Kimura Kazuki said, no matter what.
"After you're done with the investigation, we can start luring the wraith," said Kimura Kazuki. "This case can't be dragged on any longer." The longer the case was dragged on, the higher the chances were of Natsuna Yamanaka noticing something. Once she gets alerted, she would become a lot more vigilant, and then it would be even harder to catch her.
"Not a problem." Ryo Otake was even more anxious than Kimura Kazuki. The quicker he solved the case, the bigger his credit would be.
