The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 175: Ch : Coming Back- Part 1
Rhiner had told me that everyone (except Kuro) was mostly fine but sleeping. But I felt the need to see it with my own eyes once. That was why I pushed past him to check on the unconscious people in the other room.
Everyone looked startled to see me hurrying up beyond the door, and a few people tried to stand up.
Even the doctors looked shocked, but they quickly snapped out of it to push their patients back down.
"Ace? What are you doing here? This is not a place for you to be at, right?"
One of the doctors came over to me to check what I wanted. He looked exhausted as he walked, and his eyes periodically closed, threatening to make him fall unconscious.
I ignored him and looked at the people behind him. They all looked my way as well, but their eyes were not looking good.
"How is everything going? How about the people who came out of the dungeon? How are they doing?"
I asked as I looked at the people behind the doctor. They looked touched that I was asking about them.
But the doctor, on the other hand, just looked even more flushed at my question, and he hesitated to answer.
"Ah... about that... most of these people are alright. They are not hurt too badly, but we would still like to keep them in check just to make sure nothing happens to them any further and make a report on their condition."
The doctor downplayed how the situation was being handled. But just the fact that it was being handled at all made me feel better.
These people were not being neglected.
"Don’t worry. The Luminous Guild will take responsibility for what happened. We will make sure these people are able to live a carefree life."
Rhiner assured me as he came beside me and placed a hand on my shoulder. That reassurance helped, and I felt a little relaxed.
These people had survived because of Kuro’s sacrifice, so I wanted them to live a healthy life, just as Kuro would have wanted them to. For that, Kyle was willing to do more than he needed.
"I see. So our guild will take care of them all? Then, I will count on you for support."
I kept standing in the doorway with an awkward expression on my face after that was said. I did not know whether I wanted to go in or step out. And even the doctor looked worried for me.
In the end, Rhiner grabbed my arm and tugged me out of the room.
"We should head back now. You look extremely tired. Some rest will do you some good."
He told me as he dragged me back to my bed. My body felt tired, and I wanted to fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
But unfortunately, my sleep was not a calm one. Flashes of what happened with Kuro came back to my mind, and I kept waking up right in the middle of the night due to the horror of what happened.
My head hurt, especially after losing Kuro. I kept rubbing my eyes to get rid of the tension that had built up in them, but it did nothing to help me.
And when I did finally manage to fall asleep, the phantom touch my body recalled of Theo jolted me awake.
I was tired, grumpy, and trying to fall asleep. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about this situation, and that made me feel annoyed.
"Tsk, what a mess. I wish I could close my eyes, and I do not have to think about it ever again."
I sighed as I pushed my body on the end. There was no response from anyone else, and the night finally passed.
Finally, I was discharged with a warning the next day, and I left the hospital and arched my back. It was time for me to head home.
But I felt physically and mentally drained. I had no idea how I was going to explain this situation to Emma and Ben. Would they understand what happened with Theo? Or would they be disappointed in me?
The only way to head back.
Rhiner was a perfect alpha on our journey back. He kept his distance but also helped me when I needed. Plus, his presence warded off other alphas.
I would have thought more about his actions and what they meant if I had the mental capacity to do so. But I was too tired to think about anything at the moment.
All I wanted to do was close my eyes and fall into a deep sleep. But even that was not a safe escape for me.
Our first stop was the Luminous Guild building, which had been waiting for us all. From the secretary to the other hunters, they were all present, and they were looking at me with a curious look, wanting to know what happened.
But the only one to approach me was Lynn. His eyes looked over my tired form before he gave Rhiner a curious look.
"I wonder what happened to make you like this, Ace. You need some good aftercare now that the dungeon is over. Do make sure to visit our rest and recovery department."
Lynn told me as he approached me and reached out to touch my dark circles.
I slapped his hand away from my face, mainly because I did not want him touching me unnecessarily. Lynn looked surprised by my gesture, but he did not take a hit personally. Or if he did, he was easily able to ignore it.
Some rest and recovery sounded nice. But before that, I had a few more things to take care of. I needed to visit Emma and Ben to see what happened and whether Theo was back or not.
And if he was, then we had a lot we needed to talk about.
’What if he’s not back? What if he’s gone and is our enemy now?’
My brain asked, and I did not know what to do. What I did know was that I would never be able to hit Theo, even if he were an enemy of mine.
