The Twisted Obsession-Chapter 252: Steal
Chapter 252: Steal
Fredrick carefully poured hot water into a delicate porcelain teapot, the steam rising in elegant spirals. The penthouse was quiet, the soft hum of the city below providing a gentle backdrop to their meeting. He moved with practiced grace, every motion deliberate as he prepared the tea with a secret ingredient.
Margaret reclined on a chaise lounge, her elegant silk robe draped over her form, her eyes following Fredrick’s every move. There was a weary tension in her, a stark contrast to the luxurious surroundings.
Fredrick turned, carrying the tray with the teapot and two cups. He placed it on the glass table before her, offering a charming smile. "I’ve added a little something special to help you relax, my dear."
Margaret’s lips curved into a tired smile as she accepted the cup. "You always know just what I need, Fredrick."
He poured the tea, the liquid a rich amber, and handed her the first cup. She took a sip, closing her eyes as the warmth spread through her. "What is it?" she asked, opening her eyes again.
"Just a hint of valerian root," Fredrick replied smoothly. "It’s known for its calming effects. I thought you could use a bit of tranquility given everything that’s been happening."
Margaret sighed, setting the cup down momentarily. "Things have been... difficult, to say the least. James’s company is in turmoil. There’s talk of sabotage, financial mismanagement, and plummeting stock prices. He’s been impossible to live with."
Fredrick leaned in, his expression one of genuine concern. "I’m sorry to hear that, Margaret. You don’t deserve to be caught in the middle of this mess."
Margaret’s eyes flickered with frustration and sadness. "It’s more than just the company. James has become paranoid, convinced that someone is out to get him. He’s been taking it out on everyone around him, especially me. It’s like he’s a different person."
Fredrick reached out, taking her hand in his. "You shouldn’t have to endure that. You deserve better, Margaret. You deserve happiness."
She looked at him, her eyes searching his. "I don’t know what to do, Fredrick. If things keep going like this, I’ll be dragged down with him. Everything we’ve built, everything I’ve worked for, it’s all at risk."
Fredrick’s expression turned serious, a calculated glint in his eye. "There’s a way out of this, Margaret. A way for you to escape and start anew."
Margaret’s brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"
He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "James’s company is on the brink of collapse. If you act now, you can secure your future before it’s too late. You need to take what you can before it’s all gone."
Margaret’s eyes widened in shock. "Steal from James? I can’t... I’ve never..."
Fredrick squeezed her hand gently. "Listen to me, Margaret. This isn’t about theft. It’s about survival. James has been reckless and destructive. If you don’t protect yourself, you’ll be left with nothing when the dust settles."
She looked away, her mind racing. "But how? How could I even begin to do that?"
Fredrick’s voice was soothing, persuasive. "You have access to the company’s accounts and assets. Transfer funds discreetly, small amounts at a time. Set up an offshore account where the money can be safe. You can start a new life, away from all this chaos."
Margaret’s hand trembled as she picked up her cup, taking another sip of the calming tea. "I don’t know if I can do this, Fredrick. It feels so... wrong."
He moved closer, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race. "Margaret, think about your future. Think about the life we could have together, free from James’s tyranny. We could elope, start fresh somewhere far away. But we need the resources to do that. This is your chance to take control."
Tears welled in her eyes as she considered his words. "You make it sound so easy."
"It won’t be easy," Fredrick admitted. "But it’s necessary. I love you, Margaret. I want to build a life with you. But we can’t do that if we’re tied to James’s sinking ship."
Margaret took a deep breath, her resolve hardening. "You’re right. I can’t let him drag me down. I have to think about myself for once."
Fredrick smiled, a mix of relief and triumph. "That’s the spirit. We’ll do this together. I’ll help you every step of the way."
Margaret nodded, determination shining in her eyes. "Alright. I’ll do it. I’ll start transferring the funds tomorrow."
Fredrick leaned in, kissing her gently. "I’m proud of you, Margaret. We’ll get through this, and we’ll be stronger for it."
She looked up at him, her eyes reflecting gratitude and affection.
"You know," she said softly, "I never imagined I’d find someone like you. Someone who understands me and supports me the way you do."
Fredrick smiled down at her, his eyes warm. "And I never imagined I’d find someone as strong and resilient as you, Margaret. We make a good team."
Margaret leaned her head on his shoulder. "Tell me more about the life you envision for us, Fredrick. Where would we go? What would we do?"
He wrapped an arm around her, his voice taking on a dreamy quality. "I’ve always thought about Italy. A small villa in Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. We could wake up to the sound of birds, spend our days exploring the countryside, and our evenings enjoying good food and wine."
Margaret closed her eyes, picturing the idyllic scene. "That sounds perfect. A world away from all this chaos."
Fredrick kissed the top of her head. "And it’s not just a dream, Margaret. We can make it a reality. Once we’ve secured the funds, we’ll leave all this behind and start anew. Just you and me."
She lifted her head to look at him, her eyes shining with hope. "You really think we can do it?"
"I know we can," he replied confidently. "We’ve come this far, haven’t we? Together, we can do anything."
Margaret smiled, the first genuine smile she’d felt in days. "You always know how to make me believe in possibilities."
Fredrick leaned in and kissed her, a tender, lingering kiss that spoke of promises and unspoken words. When they finally pulled apart, they stayed close, their foreheads touching.
"Let’s not waste any more time," Margaret said, her voice filled with determination. "Tomorrow, we start the transfers. And soon, we’ll be on our way to that villa in Tuscany."
Fredrick nodded, his heart swelling with pride and love. "Tomorrow it is. And until then, let’s enjoy tonight."
