The Twisted Obsession-Chapter 255: Powerful enemy
Chapter 255: Powerful enemy
Lily was at a loss for what to do. She had never seen her mother like this before, so terrified and broken. She needed to get help, but she didn’t want to leave her mother alone in this state
Just as Lily reached for her phone to call a doctor, her mother’s expression shifted. She blinked rapidly and shook her head as if clearing away a fog. When she looked at Lily again, her eyes were calm and clear.
"Lily, why do you look so worried?" she asked, her tone completely normal. It was as if the past few minutes had never happened.
Lily stared at her, bewildered. "Mom, you were... you were just in a daze. You were talking about shadows and voices. What happened?"
Her mother frowned, a look of concern crossing her face. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, dear. I’m perfectly fine. Maybe you’re just tired."
Lily couldn’t believe what she was hearing. "Mom, you were not fine. You were in some kind of trance. You were saying things that didn’t make any sense."
Her mother waved a hand dismissively. "Nonsense, Lily. I’m sure it was nothing. You’ve been under a lot of stress lately with everything that’s been going on. Perhaps you’re just imagining things."
Lily felt a mix of frustration and fear. "I’m not imagining things. Something is wrong. We need to call a doctor."
Her mother shook her head firmly. "There’s no need for that. I feel perfectly fine now. Really, Lily, you worry too much."
Lily wasn’t convinced, but she didn’t want to upset her mother further. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. "Okay, but promise me you’ll let me know if you feel strange again. We need to take this seriously."
Her mother smiled reassuringly. "I promise, dear. Now, why don’t you sit down and tell me what’s been going on with you? You look like you’ve had quite a day."
Lily sighed and sat down, trying to shake off the lingering unease. She told her mother about the recent events, carefully omitting the most dangerous details. Her mother listened attentively, her earlier episode seemingly forgotten.
As they talked, Lily kept a close eye on her mother, looking for any signs of a relapse. But her mother remained perfectly normal, her earlier daze a distant memory. Lily couldn’t shake the feeling that something was very wrong, but for now, there was nothing more she could do.

Abby lay comfortably on the plush sofa, her head resting on Remo’s lap. She was engrossed in a book, occasionally nibbling on a slice of mango that Remo fed her from the bowl of assorted fruits. The serene atmosphere of the room was a stark contrast to the chaos that had recently engulfed her life.
Suddenly, one of the bodyguards entered the room, his expression tense. "Miss Abby, your uncle is requesting to see you. He seems very angry."
Abby sighed, marking her place in the book before setting it aside. She sat up, stretching slightly. "What does he want now?" she muttered, more to herself than anyone else.
Remo frowned, a protective arm around her shoulders. "You don’t have to see him if you don’t want to."
Abby shook her head, a determined look in her eyes. "No, it’s fine. Let’s get this over with."
She stood up, straightening her clothes, and followed the bodyguard to the living room where her uncle, James Harrison, was pacing angrily. His face was flushed with rage, and the moment he saw Abby, his eyes narrowed.
"Abby," he spat, barely containing his fury. "Do you have any idea what you’ve done?"
Abby crossed her arms, her demeanor calm and nonchalant. "Good evening to you too, Uncle. What seems to be the problem?"
James’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. "Don’t play coy with me! My company is on the brink of collapse, and I know you’re behind it. You’ve been sabotaging me!"
Abby raised an eyebrow, her tone cool and unbothered. "I have no idea what you’re talking about, Uncle. Maybe you’re just not as good at running a company as you thought."
James’s hands clenched into fists. "You ungrateful little—" He took a step towards her, his hand raised as if to slap her.
Before he could strike, Remo was there, his grip ironclad as he caught James’s wrist mid-air. "That’s enough," Remo said, his voice low and dangerous. "You will not touch her."
James struggled against Remo’s hold, but Remo didn’t budge. The room was thick with tension as James glared at Abby, his eyes filled with a mixture of hatred and frustration.
"Let go of me," James growled, but Remo only tightened his grip.
"Not until you calm down," Remo replied. "You’re not going to solve anything with violence."
James wrenched his arm free, stepping back and straightening his jacket, his eyes never leaving Abby. "This isn’t over, Abby. You’ve made a powerful enemy."
Abby met his gaze steadily, unflinching. "I’m not afraid of you, Uncle. You’ve lost. It’s time you accepted that."
James sneered, his eyes narrowing. "We’ll see about that. Enjoy your little victory while you can. It won’t last."
With that, he turned and stormed out of the room, leaving a palpable silence in his wake. Abby let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding, and Remo immediately wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and filled with concern.
Abby nodded, leaning into his embrace. "I’m fine. I knew he’d be angry, but I didn’t expect him to try and hit me."
Remo kissed the top of her head, his hold protective. "He won’t get another chance. I promise."
Abby pulled back slightly, looking up at him with a grateful smile. "Thank you for standing up for me."
"Always," Remo said, his eyes filled with determination. "We’re in this together, remember?"
She nodded, feeling a renewed sense of strength. "Yes, we are."
They returned to the sofa, the tension of the confrontation slowly dissipating. Abby picked up her book again, but her thoughts were elsewhere. She knew her uncle wouldn’t give up easily, and she had to stay vigilant.
"Do you think he’ll try something else?" Abby asked, voicing her concern.
Remo considered her question for a moment before answering. "He might. Men like him don’t accept defeat gracefully. But we’re ready for whatever he throws at us."
Abby nodded, feeling reassured by Remo’s confidence. "We’ve come this far. We can handle whatever comes next."
