Chapter 314: Framed 2

Remo’s mind raced as he looked between Abby, bleeding and trembling, and Nicole, standing in shock, her hands stained with blood. The scene was chaotic, a nightmare unfolding in slow motion, and for a moment, he was frozen, unsure of what to believe.

Abby’s soft whimpers broke through his haze. "Remo... please," she whispered, reaching out toward him, her face pale and her body weak from the wound. "Help me..."

Without hesitation, Remo rushed to her side, kneeling down to support her as he examined the knife still lodged in her abdomen. His heart pounded with panic, his breath shallow as he tried to assess how serious her injury was. Blood was seeping through her clothes, staining the pristine kitchen floor, but she was still conscious—barely.

"Hang on, Abby, I’m calling an ambulance," Remo muttered, his voice shaking as he fumbled for his phone.

Behind him, Nicole finally found her voice, her shock giving way to a mixture of horror and anger. "No! Remo, you have to listen to me! She did this to herself! She grabbed the knife, and—"

Remo whipped his head around, his eyes blazing with fury. "Are you insane?!" he roared, his face inches from Nicole’s, who flinched at the venom in his tone. "I walk in here, and you’ve got blood all over your hands, and you want me to believe she did this to herself?!" His voice was thick with disbelief, rage barely contained.

Nicole’s eyes filled with tears as she frantically shook her head, stepping back in terror. "You don’t understand! She’s manipulating you, Remo! She’s—"

Abby let out a soft sob, interrupting Nicole’s frantic explanation. "Why are you lying?" she whimpered, her voice trembling as she clutched her side. "I tried to make peace... but you... you wanted to hurt me..."

Remo’s heart twisted at the sight of Abby in pain, the woman he had sworn to protect now bleeding in his arms. He turned back to her, his anger softening into concern as he held her close. "It’s going to be okay, Abby. I’ll get you to the hospital. Just hold on."

Nicole’s frustration boiled over as she watched Remo comfort Abby, who continued to play the victim with chilling precision. "You’re not seeing the truth, Remo!" Nicole screamed, her voice rising in desperation. "She’s dangerous! She’s been planning this—she set me up!"

Remo’s head spun with conflicting emotions, his mind grasping at straws. Part of him wanted to believe Nicole, to question the bizarre situation he had just walked into. Abby had never been this helpless, this vulnerable—not in the way she was now. But the image of Nicole with the bloodstained knife, and Abby’s quiet sobs, kept pulling him back to what was right in front of him.

"Enough!" he barked, his voice slicing through the tension in the room. "Nicole, just shut up! I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I need to get Abby to the hospital."

Abby’s fingers curled weakly around his hand, and she gave him a pleading look. "Please, don’t leave me with her. She’ll... she’ll hurt me again," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Nicole let out a bitter laugh, her eyes wild with frustration. "Are you seriously this blind, Remo? She’s been playing you from the start!"

Remo ignored her, pulling out his phone and dialing for an ambulance. He couldn’t think straight—not with the adrenaline coursing through his veins, the sight of Abby’s blood making him feel sick to his stomach. He had to focus on getting her help. The rest could be dealt with later.

After calling for help, Remo turned his attention back to Nicole, his face hard with anger. "Get out," he ordered coldly, his voice low and dangerous. "Before I call the police."

Nicole’s eyes widened, disbelief washing over her. "You... you can’t be serious."

"I said get out!" Remo shouted, his patience gone. "You’ve done enough damage for one night."

Nicole stood there for a moment, stunned into silence. Her gaze flicked to Abby, who was looking up at Remo with those wide, innocent eyes, playing the part of the victim so perfectly that Nicole could almost believe it herself. Almost.

But Nicole knew better. She had seen the truth in those eyes, the darkness lurking beneath Abby’s fragile exterior. And now, as she looked at Remo, she realized that there was nothing she could say or do to make him see it.

"I’ll go," Nicole said finally, her voice cold and hollow. "But you’ll regret this, Remo. You’ll see the truth soon enough."

With that, she turned on her heel and stormed out of the house, the door slamming shut behind her with a resounding finality.

As soon as Nicole was gone, Remo turned his full attention back to Abby, cradling her head gently as he tried to keep her conscious. "Stay with me, Abby," he whispered, his voice laced with fear. "The ambulance is on its way."

Abby’s eyes fluttered open, and she gave him a weak, tired smile. "You saved me," she whispered, her voice soft and grateful. "I knew you would."

Remo swallowed hard, his emotions swirling in a chaotic mix of anger, fear, and confusion. He didn’t know what had really happened here, but one thing was clear—Abby needed him now more than ever. And he couldn’t afford to lose her. Not like this.

"I’m not going anywhere," he said, his voice steady but his heart pounding. "I’ll always protect you."

But even as he spoke the words, a seed of doubt lodged itself in his mind, small but persistent. Something wasn’t right. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was missing something important—that this nightmare was far from over.

Abby’s eyes closed again, her breath slowing as she relaxed in his arms, the tension finally leaving her body. And as the sound of distant sirens filled the air, Remo held her close, wondering if he was comforting the woman he loved—or if he had just stepped into a trap of her making.
