The Tycoon's Mysterious Darling Wife-Chapter 479 - 481. Jin Enxi, have you had enough fun?
The man had just finished speaking when several people got up from a nearby seating area and surrounded them.
The man in the middle touched his forehead, found there was no blood, and relaxed a bit, but he was in great pain and looked at Daniel as if he were going to breathe fire, "Do you know who I am? How dare you hit me!" the man said hatefully.
Daniel shielded Jin Enxi behind him, his expression indifferent as he looked at them. This Daniel looked somewhat like he did in the company on regular days, radiating an air of aloofness.
"I don’t want to know."
"Fine, you’ve got guts. Boys, beat him, beat him to death. I’ll handle the consequences," the man said fiercely, not realizing that anyone frequenting Charming Color in Beijing couldn’t possibly be a nobody. Moreover, Daniel’s attire was that of a successful person, an outfit that was several notches above what the man was wearing. Unfortunately, the man didn’t recognize him.
"You should leave first in a moment, don’t worry about me," Daniel whispered to Jin Enxi.
Looking at the figure blocking in front of her, Jin Enxi’s eyes deepened with confusion. Did Daniel really figure out who she was? There had been a moment when Jin Enxi felt Daniel knew, but now she was unsure again. If Daniel had really figured it out, he would know that with her abilities, these wealthy young men weren’t enough for her to even get between her teeth. He didn’t need to block in front of her or run.
Seeing the group about to pounce, Daniel casually picked up a wine bottle from the table, smashed it, and held it in his hand, "Let’s see who dares to move."
The men paused at the sight of the sharp bottle in his hand. Especially the man in the middle who burst into laughter, "Idiot. Get him."
As the group was about to make a move, Daniel was about to fight back, but someone pushed him aside, "You better rest." A petite figure rushed out, and soon after, screams echoed around them. In the blink of an eye, the men who were attacking them were laying on the ground, howling in pain. The only one left standing was that man.
Jin Enxi coldly looked at the man, "Now, it’s just you left."
The man’s legs trembled, and he swallowed hard, thinking she was a natural beauty but turned out to be a fierce little dragon, "What... what do you want to do?" he said as he crossed his arms as if Jin Enxi in front of him was some despicable villain forcing the innocent into indecency.
Jin Enxi’s face darkened, maliciously smiling, "What do you think?"
The man’s heart trembled. At this moment, he didn’t think her smile was enchanting enough to toppling cities and kingdoms, but rather that she seemed like a being from Hell, her chilling presence tightly surrounding him. Though he was scared to death inside, the man still mustered the courage to say, "I’m telling you, my father is the boss of Weiyuan Technology. If you offend me, I’ll make sure you can’t get by in Beijing."
Jin Enxi tilted her head, "Weiyuan Technology, what’s that?"
The man nearly choked on his own spit. Amidst the laughter from the crowd of onlookers, the man felt humiliated and glared at those laughing, "What are you laughing at, a bunch of ignorant paupers."
That comment offended everyone. Previously just bystanders enjoying the show, their expressions suddenly changed, "Ha, ’Weiyuan Technology.’ I’ll remember that name. Just a nouveau riche company, it hasn’t even gone public, and already you’re behaving like this. If it went public, perhaps the whole of Beijing wouldn’t be able to contain you."
The woman speaking seemed to know something about Weiyuan Technology. Her words also indicated that Weiyuan was just a normal company, hardly even a noteworthy name.
The man’s face turned red with anger. Just as he was about to lash out, he received a punch in the stomach from Jin Enxi.
The man turned pale with pain, clutching his stomach and doubling over. Jin Enxi strode forward, raised his chin, and forced him to meet her eyes, "Making me unable to get by in Beijing, eh?"
"I... I won’t... let you off!" the man gritted his teeth and said, his face sweating from the pain, yet still pretending to be tough.
"Ah, I’m so scared," Jin Enxi said exaggeratedly, her face completely unafraid as she mocked him with her eyes, "If you can, come and get me; I’ll be waiting right here in Beijing."
The man’s face turned pale as he glared at Jin Enxi, "I’ll remember you." He thought to himself that he must find someone to teach this woman a lesson once he got back. At this moment, in the man’s eyes, Jin Enxi was just a punk who needed to be disciplined, not a trace of beauty in sight.
Jin Enxi curled her lips disdainfully, slightly exerting force on the chin she was pinching, causing the man to tear up in pain, "Psh, with just this little capability, you dare to talk tough like you’ve seen too many gangster films, thinking you’re the best in the world, huh?"
The commotion drew the attention of Charming Color’s manager, and coincidentally, Han Yi was there to check the accounts today. Hearing the waiter’s report, he followed the manager over. Han Yi, the owner of Charming Color and the CEO of the Han Group, was well-known here. Seeing him arrive, everyone promptly made way for him.
"What’s going on? Who is causing trouble on my turf?" Han Yi’s voice reached before he did, and upon seeing Daniel, he paused briefly then took in the scene, understanding the situation instantly.
"Daniel, are they bullying you?" Han Yi directly asked Daniel.
Seeing the person in charge had arrived, Jin Enxi let go of her grip as if she felt tainted, even wiping her hands on her clothes with a look of disgust. The man, eyes red with fury, cursed the detestable woman.
"Mr. Han, you’ve come just in time. These two were causing a scene in the bar." The two men spoke up first, completely ignoring that Mr. Han’s first question was directed to Daniel, clearly indicating they knew Daniel.
The onlookers looked at the man with sympathy for his foolishness. How did someone like that even grow up?
Mr. Han glanced at the man, "Are you saying these two started the trouble?"
Seeing Mr. Han addressing him, the man straightened up, his eyes lighting up, "Yes, that’s right. I was just trying to be nice and offered them a drink, but they started hitting people without saying anything. Mr. Han, look what they did to my friends."
"Heh, now I know what ’the wicked suing first’ means," Jin Enxi said sarcastically, glancing at her freshly manicured nails, her demeanor relaxed, looking indeed rather provoking.
"You..." The man was enraged, but remembering the recent lesson from Jin Enxi, he dared not confront her directly and instead turned to Mr. Han, "Mr. Han, look, she’s still being arrogant. Charming Color is a high-class venue, definitely not a place for such people to drag down its class. I even wonder how they got in." Although the woman was dressed nicely, her clothes didn’t seem like they were from international designer brands, and the man’s clothes, he knew luxury brands better than his own parents, were definitely not what the man was wearing, probably picked up from some stall.
Jin Enxi shook her head, thinking how once people become stupid, they hardly differ from pigs.
Mr. Han nodded slightly, "Hmm, indeed. Someone, throw these few out."
The man looked smugly at Jin Enxi, thinking, offend me and see if you don’t regret it.
Just then, security stepped forward and grabbed him and his companion, preparing to throw them out. The man panicked, turning to Mr. Han, "Mr. Han, isn’t there some mistake? They started the trouble, not me."
Mr. Han looked at him indifferently, "Oh? Is that so?"
The man nodded vigorously, "What I said is true, Mr. Han. They started the trouble, it’s not my fault."
Mr. Han replied, "Even if they started it, you still have to leave. They are my friends, reasonable people. You must have done something to provoke them first. My only flaw is that I’m overly protective." He said nonchalantly, his eyes slightly lifted.
The man’s face changed instantly, not expecting the two to be acquainted with Mr. Han, "Mr. Han, even if they are your friends, you can’t be unreasonable. I am a customer here, is this how you treat your customers?" He spoke boldly, relying on the presence of many people, believing Mr. Han wouldn’t harm him.
Mr. Han smiled slightly, "You just said it yourself, this is my place, and I can do as I please. You are not welcome here anymore, and you will be permanently blacklisted from entering Charming Color. Manager Zhang, did you get that?" The latter part was addressed to Manager Zhang.
Manager Zhang nodded, "Got it, Mr. Han."
"Aren’t you going to ’please’ them out?" Mr. Han said coldly, and the security, ignoring the struggles of the men, covered the man’s mouth and dragged him out.
Soon, the cleaning crew came up to tidy up, and Han Yi looked at the others, "Today dampened your spirits, I truly apologize. Let’s do this, I’ll treat everyone today, to make amends. Let’s carry on."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a round of applause broke out on the scene, all praising Han Yi’s magnanimity. With no more spectacle to witness, the crowd naturally dispersed.
"Mr. Han, I’m very sorry for the trouble, please put today’s drinks on my tab," Daniel said.
Han Yi waved his hand, "Oh, don’t mention it, if the little sister-in-law hears about this, I’d die of embarrassment. This little amount of money is nothing to worry about." Han Yi’s gaze swept over Jin Enxi, "This lady appears unfamiliar. Is she your girlfriend?"
Daniel shook his head, "No, this is Miss Lola, a friend of Qinglan. We arranged to hang out together today."
"Oh," Han Yi responded, smiling, "Then you guys continue to have fun, my treat."
"Thanks, Mr. Han," Jin Enxi said without any reservation.
Han Yi hadn’t finished checking his books, said a few words, then left.
Once everyone had left, Daniel turned to Jin Enxi, "Shall we go as well?"
Jin Enxi was startled, but she had had her fill of fun for the night, so leaving was fine.
Daniel called for a ride, first taking Jin Enxi to the hotel, "Thank you. Let’s meet up another day." Jin Enxi said, as she went to open the car door, but found it locked and looked at Daniel.
Daniel’s eyes were deep, "Miss Lola, aren’t there things you wish to tell me?"
Jin Enxi blinked, "Like what? Oh, thanks for today."
A flash of anger crossed Daniel’s eyes, "You know I’m not talking about that."
Jin Enxi’s gaze flickered, feigning innocence, "What are you referring to? I don’t understand what you mean, Mr. Daniel. If you find me annoying, then we don’t have to meet anymore."
"Jin Enxi, how long do you plan to keep this act up?" Daniel directly pierced through her disguise.
Jin Enxi’s body stiffened momentarily, but she quickly returned to her innocent facade, looking at Daniel, "I am Lola, not Jin Enxi, Daniel, please be clear, I am not your girlfriend."
Daniel leaned in closer, staring intently into Jin Enxi’s eyes, "Is that so? Then look into my eyes and tell me, I am mistaken, you are not Enxi, not my girlfriend, not my beloved."
Jin Enxi choked, speechless.
"Jin Enxi, are you done playing?" Daniel’s voice was very soft, yet it struck Jin Enxi like a heavy hammer, leaving her momentarily at a loss for words.
After a while, Jin Enxi sighed, "When did you recognize me?" She was sure, Daniel hadn’t recognized her at first sight.
Daniel didn’t answer Jin Enxi’s question but hugged her tightly, as if trying to merge her into his own body. His body trembled slightly, and Jin Enxi, feeling a sting at the tip of her nose, hugged him back.
"I’m sorry," Jin Enxi said softly, apologizing. "My dear Daniel, I deceived you."
"Enxi, you’re finally back," Daniel spoke softly, his voice slightly choked. "It’s been over two years, nearly eight hundred days and nights, and I’ve been hoping every day that you would appear before me and say, ’Daniel, I’m back.’"
With tears in her eyes, Jin Enxi said, "Yes, I’m back, Daniel."
Daniel’s tears instantly slid down; the long-suppressed tears finally collapsed when they touched a chord in his heart. Jin Enxi felt the wetness on her shoulder but said nothing, just holding Daniel tightly.
"How did you recognize me?" After both of their emotions had calmed down, Jin Enxi finally asked. She thought she had disguised herself well.
"It’s the eyes," Daniel said, holding Jin Enxi’s hand and not letting go. "No matter how someone changes their appearance, the eyes can’t lie."
"But you didn’t recognize me the first time we met," Jin Enxi pointed out. If it were really that miraculous, Daniel would have recognized her instantly then.
At this, Daniel couldn’t help feeling a bit upset. "I haven’t even started on you. Since you came back, why didn’t you come to find me?" Then this whole guessing game, "If I hadn’t recognized you, when were you planning to tell me?" Maybe at first he thought Jin Enxi was too well hidden to recognize, but inadvertently, there were always some clues. After repeated confirmations, he naturally guessed it. The reason he didn’t acknowledge her immediately was also for a final confirmation.
Jin Enxi could hardly tell him that if he hadn’t recognized her, she might have planned never to tell him. She was sure that if she ever said that, Daniel would definitely be angry.
"I was thinking of telling you after some time," Jin Enxi’s voice suddenly lowered. "Daniel, I have changed this way now; I was afraid you wouldn’t like me, afraid that you have waited too long and already forgotten me, afraid that you no longer love me."
Hearing the hidden sadness in Jin Enxi’s voice, Daniel felt a sharp pain in his heart and hugged her tightly again. "Silly girl, how could I forget you? I have always been waiting for you to come back. I also knew that you would definitely return. No matter what you become, you are still my Enxi, the person I love the most."
This time, it was Jin Enxi’s turn to cry. Jin Enxi, who always kept her emotions well hidden, finally released her true feelings in Daniel’s arms. Daniel held her tightly, his lips curling into a smile, "Enxi, this time, no matter what, I won’t let you leave me again."
Jin Enxi nodded fervently; this time, she definitely wouldn’t leave again.
The next morning, when Jin Enxi woke up, Daniel was staring intently at her. Seeing her awake, he reached out to touch her face. "Does it hurt?"
Jin Enxi was startled, then realized what he meant. "It doesn’t hurt."
"It must hurt a lot," swapping almost all the skin on her body, undergoing countless surgeries, how could it not hurt?
Jin Enxi hadn’t mentioned to Daniel about the explosion and her injuries. Daniel had found out while Jin Enxi was asleep; he had called Shen Qinglan, who, knowing that they had acknowledged each other, had told Daniel everything, including how Jin Enxi was almost completely destroyed when she found her.
Daniel felt heartbroken. Just thinking about the days he wasn’t there, how Jin Enxi endured the pain of her skin regenerating, constantly undergoing surgeries, made his heart ache to the point of suffocation.
"Daniel, all of this is nothing to me. Being able to stand before you again is all the motivation I need. I am so grateful that I am standing before you now."
"Silly girl, why didn’t you let me be with you? You know, no matter what you look like, I still love you."
Jin Enxi smiled. "Daniel, I’m a girl, you know. I hope in your heart, I will always be perfect." Let that ugly self disappear in the memory.
"You are beautiful now too," Daniel said earnestly.
Jin Enxi said nothing but took the initiative to kiss Daniel’s lips.
After Shen Qinglan’s birthday, Fu Hengyi was going to return to the military, and Anan knew Daddy was leaving, feeling both reluctant and secretly pleased that no one would compete with him for Mommy’s attention.
Fu Hengyi saw right through what the little guy was thinking and looked at Shen Qinglan, "This time, come back with me, and let Anan stay at home with Grandpa."
Shen Qinglan raised an eyebrow — they had just discussed this last night, so why bring it up again?
"Mommy, don’t go," Anan protested.
Shen Qinglan immediately understood; this man was still bullying his son before leaving.
"Daddy, you go," Anan’s feelings of dislike vanished when he heard Fu Hengyi suggest that Shen Qinglan leave with him, while he stayed at home. He wished Fu Hengyi would leave right now.
Fu Hengyi snorted, calling him a thankless wretch — after all the care, including changing his diapers when he was born, now the boy couldn’t wait to get rid of him. Initially, Fu Hengyi had been only teasing, but now he genuinely wanted to take Shen Qinglan with him.
"Qinglan, I won’t be able to return for over a month this time, so come with me," Fu Hengyi said, glancing at a certain upset little boy.
That certain little boy became anxious and clung to Shen Qinglan’s legs, "Mommy, no, Anan wants to go too." If they were going, he couldn’t be left behind at home; absolutely not.
Shen Qinglan looked at Fu Hengyi, amused, "Stop teasing him. Are you going to console him if he really starts crying?"
Fu Hengyi disdainfully glanced at his son, "It would be embarrassing if he still cried at his age."
Anan felt wronged and wanted to cry but held back his tears upon hearing his father’s words, uncertain whether to cry or not.
"Come on, just go," Shen Qinglan urged him to leave and was about to hug her son when Fu Hengyi pulled her back, "I’m not joking. I’m serious; come with me this time."
Seeing that he was becoming more insistent, Shen Qinglan pushed him away irritably, "Just go."
Fu Hengyi looked at Shen Qinglan mournfully, "This woman, really fickle. All those words about me being the most important are just lies."
Shen Qinglan chuckled coldly, holding her son as she turned and went inside, closing the door with a bang. She didn’t even look back. Fu Hengyi touched his chin, contemplating whether his charm had decreased as he had aged, given that his wife showed no reluctance in parting. People talk about the seven-year itch, but they had only been together for five years.
Fu Hengyi, feeling aggrieved, got into the car; the officer driving noticed Fu Hengyi’s chilly expression and didn’t dare to speak, hastily starting the car and driving away.
Watching his father’s car leave from the window, Anan felt relieved. Seeing toys on the floor, he was instantly in the mood to play, leaving his mother to pick them up, which amused Shen Qinglan.
Then, Shen Qinglan went to find Old Sir Fu, as it had been a while since she played chess with him. Seeing that the old man was in the mood, they sat in the living room to play.
"Qinglan, your chess skills have regressed," Old Sir Fu said while stroking his beard and chuckling.
Shen Qinglan looked at the board, her expression composed, "Grandpa, the game isn’t over yet. It’s a bit early to say that."
"Ha-ha, alright, then let’s patiently await the outcome," Old Sir Fu said, waving his hand grandly as he made a move.
Five minutes later, Old Sir Fu stared at the board, speechless.
"Grandpa, you’ve lost," Shen Qinglan said calmly.
Old Sir Fu looked at the board in disbelief, "How is that possible?"
He looked up at Shen Qinglan, "Qinglan, let’s have another game."
"Alright."
The pieces were scattered, and the game restarted.
Half an hour later, Old Sir Fu looked at the board, sighed for a long time, "Ah, Qinglan, you’re too cunning, setting such a big trap for your grandpa."
Shen Qinglan smiled without speaking.
"You complain about Lanlan when your own skills are lacking, don’t you feel ashamed?" A strong voice came from the doorway.
It turned out Old Sir Shen had just entered and upon hearing Old Sir Fu’s words, couldn’t help but retort.
Old Sir Fu snorted, "You think your skills are better, then you play."
"Let’s do it; Lanlan, go all out, don’t hold back."
"Grandpa, I definitely won’t hold back," Shen Qinglan assured.
Forty minutes later, Old Sir Fu slapped his thigh, laughing until his old face crinkled like a chrysanthemum, "Ha, ha, ha, Old Man Shen, you laughed at me, but you didn’t do much better."
"Hmph, I lasted at least ten minutes longer than you. If this were a battlefield, my reinforcements would have arrived in that time, and you, hmph," Old Sir Shen stood his ground, exchanging barbs with Old Sir Fu, neither yielding to the other.
Anan, who had been playing, heard the dispute and, thinking the two old men were really arguing, burst into tears out of fright. The two old men were startled by the crying and froze.
"What happened, what happened, Anan, my little heart, why are you crying?" Old Sir Fu was the first to recover, coming over with a voice full of tenderness.
"Don’t...don’t fight..." Anan sobbed, causing the faces of the two old men to flush, realizing the playful dispute might have scared the child, they felt a bit helpless. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Anan, we weren’t fighting, we were just playing," Old Sir Fu hurried to explain, and Old Sir Shen also added, "Anan, your great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather weren’t fighting, we were playing a game."
Anan sniffled, looking up with wet eyes, "Really?"
"Really, really, when has your great-grandfather ever lied to you? We were just playing a game."
Anan, easily reassured, brightened up immediately, and Old Sir Shen and Old Sir Fu exchanged a glance, deciding they better not bicker in front of Anan anymore.
Anan started crying, and the two old gentlemen were very anxious. However, Shen Qinglan, as the mother, didn’t pay him any mind after learning why Anan was crying. Only after he stopped crying did she take him to the garden.
"Both grandpas, playing chess is taxing on the mind. You should sit down, have some tea, and chat instead," to prevent another argument from breaking out.
The old gentlemen lost interest in playing chess, waving their hands, "Fine, old fellow, let’s just have a cup of tea and chat."
"Alright, let’s go," Old Sir Shen agreed.
Anan’s mood changed quickly. Upon seeing the flowers in the courtyard, he laughed. Shen Qinglan squatted down and looked at her son, her face losing its gentleness, "Anan, mommy wants to talk to you."
Anan looked at his mother, puzzled and not understanding what she was about to say. Shen Qinglan pulled her son in front, trying to soften her tone, "Anan, you are a boy. You shouldn’t cry at the drop of a hat, do you understand?"
Anan had been adored by everyone since birth. Both the Shen Family and the Fu Family spoiled him, except for Fu Hengyi and herself. They set no boundaries, which made Anan somewhat spoiled. He was a boy and moreover a child of the Fu Family, he absolutely couldn’t be spoiled.
"Mommy, I’m scared."
"Even if you are scared, you should not cry. Like just now, you cried because you thought the two grandpas were fighting. Were you scared?"
Anan nodded, and Shen Qinglan continued, "But in reality, the grandpas were not fighting, they were just playing a game, right?"
Anan nodded again.
"Do you think it’s something a man would do, being scared before even understanding the truth of the situation?"
Anan was stunned, not quite understanding what his mother meant, after all, he was only three years old. He could grasp simple concepts, but deeper ones were beyond his understanding. Seeing her son’s confusion, Shen Qinglan tried to explain in a different way, "Anan, when we encounter something scary or don’t know what to do, we should not cry immediately. We must see clearly what is happening. If you think you can’t handle it, then you can tell mommy and daddy. While you are still young, mommy and daddy will help you rather than you crying. Boys should be strong."
"Anan won’t cry anymore." Anan didn’t completely grasp the latter half of what Shen Qinglan said, but he remembered one thing, he should not cry when encountering issues and should be strong.
Shen Qinglan knew it was too hard for a three-year-old to understand these things and did not continue the topic. For now, she wanted to correct Anan’s habit of crying easily.
Thinking of this, Shen Qinglan involuntarily began considering Fu Hengyi’s suggestion. Actually, spending some time in the Military Region would be good. Recently, Old Sir Fu’s health was still relatively robust, and it wouldn’t matter if they left for a few months. Most importantly, the atmosphere in the Military Region could shape Anan’s character well. Fu Hengyi also hoped that she would accompany him in the Military Region, forgetting that he hoped she would go alone, not with a little troublemaker.
Shen Qinglan played with Anan in the garden for a while before receiving a call from Yu Xiaoxuan, "Qinglan, I am taking Guoguo to the hospital for vaccination tomorrow. I remember Anan also needs one. Shall we go together?"
Shen Qinglan thought for a moment. Indeed, it was time for Anan’s vaccination, and she had almost forgotten, "Okay, I’ll call to make an appointment later."
"No need, I’ve just made the call. Since Anan and Guoguo have the same doctor, I’ve arranged it for both."
"Then I’ll pick you up early tomorrow morning."
"Okay."
The next morning, Shen Qinglan dragged a little sleepyhead out of bed. Anan was groggy all the way to the hospital. Upon seeing the hospital’s main entrance, he became unhappy, clinging to Shen Qinglan’s trouser leg, refusing to walk.
"Anan, didn’t Mommy tell you on the way here that we were going to get a shot today? After the shot, Mommy will take you to buy some candy."
Anan still didn’t want to go; he didn’t want to get a shot. Other kids only got shots when they were sick, so why did he have to get a shot?
Shen Qinglan picked up Anan, who lay on his mother’s shoulder and pleaded softly, "Mommy, can we not do it? It hurts."
Shen Qinglan softly comforted her son, "You need to get this shot after all; it’s to prevent you from getting sick. If you do get sick, you’ll have to take very bitter medicine and get shots for several days. Would you rather get just one shot today or have to get several when you’re sick?"
"Get it today," Anan said sulkily, not wanting to taste very bitter medicine.
Shen Qinglan stroked her son’s head, "Good boy."
Yu Xiaoxuan followed behind and couldn’t help but laugh when she heard Anan’s response, "Anan, shots don’t hurt, your sister gets shots too, and she never cries." Interestingly, Guoguo had never been afraid of shots since she was little. After crying the first two times, she never cried again.
Guoguo, being held by Yu Xiaoxuan, curiously looked around. She was already two years old and had the same baby cheeks as Yu Xiaoxuan when she was little. Her eyes were just like Yu Xiaoxuan’s, though the rest of her looked exactly like Han Yi, becoming more similar as the years passed. Han Yi was so proud of his precious daughter wherever he went, constantly boasting about her. Of course, there wasn’t a single frontal photo on his Weibo. Even if there was, it was edited to hide her full face. Unlike Yu Xiaoxuan, who rarely posted pictures of her daughter on her own Weibo.
Despite having made an appointment in advance, it was a bit late by the time they got there. There were already a few people waiting. Yu Xiaoxuan and Shen Qinglan sat outside with the kids, Yu Xiaoxuan’s face covered with sunglasses and a mask, making her unrecognizable, even if someone did recognize her.
"Why didn’t you let Han Yi come?" asked Shen Qinglan, noting that Yu Xiaoxuan was too high-profile and might be mobbed if recognized.
"He had an important video conference today, and since I was free, I came. Don’t worry, dressed like this, no one recognizes me," Yu Xiaoxuan was not worried, clearly accustomed to living in the spotlight and handling it gracefully, "And even if they do recognize me, I have my ways."
"Anan, are you scared about getting the shot today?" Yu Xiaoxuan tried to lighten the mood as she noticed Anan was lackluster. Anan just lay on Shen Qinglan’s shoulder, silent; he was in a bad mood today. It made sense since he hadn’t slept well in the morning and had been taken to the hospital for a shot. It would indeed be strange if Young Master Fu was in a good mood.
"What’s wrong with Anan?" Yu Xiaoxuan was puzzled. Normally, even if Anan didn’t like getting shots, he wouldn’t be like this.
"He was woken up early; he’s not in a good mood," Shen Qinglan said casually. Anan had severe "morning grumpiness," which used to lead to tantrums. After several strict lessons from Shen Qinglan, he had improved significantly, now mostly just avoiding conversation.
Yu Xiaoxuan tried to touch his face, but he dodged it. Guoguo called out "Brother," and Anan glanced at her briefly before quickly looking away, ignoring her. Guoguo felt slighted and looked at Yu Xiaoxuan, who just smiled back. Guoguo slid off Yu Xiaoxuan’s lap, walked over, and took Anan’s hand, then pulled a milk candy from her pocket, which Han Yi had placed there that morning. Yu Xiaoxuan didn’t let her daughter have candy, so Han Yi had only put in one piece.
"Brother, here." Guoguo handed her only candy to Anan.
Anan looked at Guoguo, then at the candy, took it, and motioned for Shen Qinglan to put him down. Shen Qinglan set him on the ground. Anan quickly tore open the candy wrapper and stuffed the candy into Guoguo’s mouth instead.
Shen Qinglan and Yu Xiaoxuan couldn’t help but chuckle at this.
"Thank you, Brother." Guoguo beamed, and Anan smiled as well.
Soon it was Guoguo and Anan’s turn. Anan’s tears welled up in his eyes as he got his shot, but he didn’t cry out loud like before. When they were leaving, he even bragged to Shen Qinglan, "Mommy, I didn’t cry."
Shen Qinglan kissed his little face, "Yes, very brave, Anan. You’re a little man now."
Anan grinned widely.
