The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife-Chapter 596
"Hmph, I know that you’re not that kind." Joanna looked away and ignored him. She glanced at the flickering lamp of the surgery room and recalled Taylor’s final wish. Feeling angry, she turned to Ace and glared at him fiercely. "You scumbag!"
He stared at her incredulously. "What did I do to you now?"
"It’s not about what you did to me, it’s about what you did to Taylor! You tricked her and manipulated her. You even watched her fall into the sea but didn’t save her. Calling you a scumbag is putting it lightly!"
Joanna’s eyes turned watery, and she fought back tears. "Do you know how loyal she was towards you? She knew she was about to be killed, but her final wish was to meet you one last time. A scumbag like you doesn’t deserve her loyalty!"
Ace’s gaze was indifferent as he said cryptically, "You’re not Taylor, so you don’t
understand her thoughts. Things aren’t as they seem. She might be pitiful, but your crazy brother isn’t normal either. He deserves what he gets."
"How dare you!" Joanna snapped furiously. "Yes, of course you’re the victim in this. You’re the most innocent man. How could you be so arrogant?
Taylor must be blind to fall for a selfish and heartless man like you..."
"Inevitably, she couldn’t help but think, I’m blind too for falling for a man like you."
"Whatever. You already think of me as ruthless and heartless, so your impression of me can’t get any worse." Ace raised his chin arrogantly as he spoke.
"You’re really..." Joanna was exasperated by the man’s indifference. She frowned and asked,
"Is there nothing you care about? Nothing that can truly move you?"
"No." His answer was direct and blunt.
"That’s what I thought. Taylor is silly to yearn for a cruel and heartless liar like you..."
Joanna sneered, feeling strangely disappointed.
Suddenly, the door to the surgery room opened. The doctor’s gloves were covered in blood, and he said urgently, "Her condition has worsened, and she’s suffering from blood loss. She needs blood, but our blood bank is insufficient. We need a blood donation. Who among you has type 0 blood?"
"Me!" Both Ace and Joanna raised their hands.
"Step back. A cruel man like you wouldn’t donate blood for someone else. Let me do it- l have a lot of blood." Joanna scoffed, but she was secretly worried that donating blood might affect his health. After all, his body had just recovered. If he wanted to donate blood to another person now, it would be very risky.
Ace ignored Joanna and looked at the doctor as he rolled up his sleeves." Let’s not waste time. Take my blood."
"You can’t!" Joanna stood before Ace and said to the doctor, "He looks tall and strong, but he’s actually a weak man. He’s suffering from hemophobia too. What if he faints when he’s donating blood? It’ll only cause you trouble. Take my blood... I’m strong."
’Tm suffering from hemophobia, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t have enough blood. I’m a man, and she’s a woman. Her hematopoietic function isn’t as strong as mine. Use my blood." "Your hematopoietic function isn’t strong at all! We exchanged your blood for you, so stop trying to act brave!" Joanna blurted out
Ace frowned. "What do you mean?" "Never mind, it’s nothing." Joanna mumbled and then turned to the doctor." Take my blood. Now!"
After that, she rushed into the surgery room.
"Take mine too." Ace followed her quickly. He felt that a man should bear this kind of
burden.
"You both..." This was the first time the doctor had faced such a situation, but he didn’t want to waste any time. "Alright. Both of you can donate blood in case we need a lot of it."
Finally, Taylor was saved due to Joanna and Ace’s joint efforts. When her condition was stable, she was transferred into an ordinary ward.
"Are you alright?" Joanna and Ace asked each other at the same time as they exited the surgery room.
"I’m fine. I told you that my hematopoietic function is very strong." Ace put his hands in his pockets and raised his brows slightly.
"Yeah, you’re very strong. But you fainted earlier, didn’t you?" Joanna asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No, I didn’t. I just dozed off."
"If you say so. You should get a doctor to cure your hemophobia, by the way. It shouldn’t go on like this." Joanna was sincerely worried about him—it was a natural instinct.
"You care so much about me... I think you’ve forgotten that we’re enemies." Ace was secretly happy that Joanna was worried about him, but he pretended to be indifferent.
"We can stop the war temporarily. Now that we’ve lost blood, we should support each other.
We can fight after we get better." Joanna raised her head and looked at the clock on the wall, saying, "Why don’t we eat something nice to replenish our blood?"
"Great idea." Ace gladly agreed to it. Moran Group had cooperated with Benjamin before, so he had been to Goldshire a few times. He was quite familiar with the place, and he knew
where all the local delicacies were.
They went to the largest food hall nearby, which was full of food stalls and high-end
restaurants.
"What do you like to eat?" Ace asked Joanna in a rather gentlemanly manner.
"I’m not a picky eater."
"Okay, let’s go and get some local delicacies." It was rare to see him so enthusiastic.
Pursing his lips, he behaved like a tour guide as he walked through the lively food hall with Joanna.
At last, they took a few turns before they came to a very narrow and desolate alley.
When Joanna saw the colourful LED sign, the decaying wall, and the locals’ gazes, she subconsciously swallowed. "Hey, are you trying to sell me to someone?’
"What? You think I want to sell you?" Ace sized her up and scoffed," Look at you. Which part of your body could I even sell?"
