The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife-Chapter 597
"What do you think? My kidneys are very valuable. Also, I heard that people who come here can only leave after they give up their kidneys. Who knows if you’ve conspired with the gangs here?" Joanna teased him, but she was actually quite frightened. She walked beside him the whole time, not daring to stray too far.
"You’re right, this place is pretty chaotic. You’d better stick close to me if you don’t want to lose your kidneys. Hold my hand tight." After that, he reached out and held her hand.
Instantly, he was struck by an odd sensation. It was the first time he held her hand, but he found her small hand very familiar... It was as if he had held her hand countless times before.
Ace always longed to hold onto this feeling, so he always tried to approach Joanna.
"You scheming man. You must have done this on purpose!" Joanna complained but still subconsciously leaned closer to him. She didn’t dare to let go of his hand at all.
When they reached the end of the corridor, they saw a restaurant with the Cyndiago
language on its sign. That restaurant was not large, and it didn’t look that fancy either.
However, it was clear that the place was out of the ordinary since the pictures on the sign showed that the restaurant served many different types of food.
It almost looked like a zoo.
"Welcome, old friend." The shop owner enthusiastically waved and greeted Ace and Joanna.
Ace was eager to walk into the restaurant but Joanna stopped him firmly. "Are you sure you want to eat here? This sign is making me lose my appetite..."
"No appetite? But the food here is really nutritious, and it’s perfect for us since we’ve just donated blood. You should try their specialty."
"What’s their specialty?"
"Fried poisonous spider."
"And that’s my cue to leave. Thank you." Joanna wanted to turn and run away, but Ace held her and pulled her into the restaurant.
He then said loudly, "Boss, give us a large plate of fried poisonous spiders, salad with pork liver, deer blood, and bear gall-"
"Stop it, Ace! It’s going to taste weird."
"It won’t be effective if it doesn’t. Don’t worry, we won’t die from eating these." Ace was rather amiable and down-to-earth now, and he was eager for Joanna to try these delicacies.
Left without a choice, Joanna braced herself and took a seat.
Before long, the waiter served them the dishes Ace had ordered. All of the dishes had a strong taste that could help replenish their blood.
"Ugh, er... are these dishes edible?" Joanna had no appetite when she saw the red and black dishes on the table.
"Why not? These are their specialties. This type of spider is very nutritious, you know. After you eat this, you’ll regain the blood you donated today," Ace explained seriously. He then picked the largest and crispiest black spider and handed it to her. "Give it a try. You’ll fall in love with the taste."
He put it in front of her mouth, so she closed her eyes and bit it. After that, she felt like she had seen a whole new world. Her eyes lit up.
"Is this... really a spider?" She eagerly chewed it before taking another bite. After that, she could no longer control herself-she could not stop eating it.
"It’s not just the spider. The seasoning used by this restaurant is very exquisite. Their dishes are delicious not because of the ingredients but the seasoning. Everyone loves their food,"
Ace said eagerly before he started eating a spider.
The two of them started to eat freely. They soon finished eating the deer blood, bear gall, and pork liver on the table.
It was soon sunset outside the restaurant, and the sky gradually darkened...
After Ace paid the bill, he walked out of the restaurant and saw how dark it had gotten. Frowning, he turned and looked at Joanna. "It’s getting dark. Let’s find a place to rest for the night."
Joanna had a bit of wine, so her cheeks were slightly flushed and she was feeling a little dizzy too. She stepped forward and lifted his chin, narrowing her eyes at him. "Looks like you want to take advantage of me after buying me dinner. Don’t think I don’t know what’s on your mind."
Ace was speechless.
Joanna burped and said bluntly, "But it’s fine, it’s hard to say who will take advantage of who. Alright, let’s go and get a hotel room!"
Ace’s jaw dropped. Did she have any idea what she was saying?!
He supported the swaying Joanna and said coldly, "You’re too inexperienced to take advantage of me. What’s more, you donated so much blood today. You’d better just behave yourself and rest well."
They went to the most prestigious hotel in the city center.
Ace went to the reception and said to the receptionist at the counter, "Give me two of your best suites."
"Sir, are you sure you want two suites?" The receptionist glanced at Joanna, who was clinging to Ace like a koala. It might have been the first time she had seen such a thing.
The man and woman were obviously close, but they wanted separate rooms.
"Yes, we’re not close, you see." Ace lifted his chin as he spoke. However, even as he said that, Joanna hung onto him and pulled his sleeve.
"You guys look... pretty close," the receptionist muttered before she started checking the rooms. At last, she informed Ace regretfully, "Sir, we’re left with only one Luxury Suite. The others are taken. What do you-
"Only one?" Ace knitted his brows and said reluctantly, "Fine, I’ll take that one."
After that, he lowered his head and explained to Joanna solemnly, "Listen. There’s only one room in the hotel. It’s not that I want to stay in the same room with you."
But he gained no response from her.
Joanna did not make any reply, possibly because she was too sleepy. She seemed to have dozed off while clinging to his shoulders.
After getting the room card, Ace helped Joanna into the room. Unexpectedly, a paparazzi snapped the whole process from afar.
"You’re so heavy. You don’t look it, but you are,’ Ace growled as he laid her on the bed, sweating profusely. "I’m not heavy, you’re just weak..." Joanna mumbled, half-asleep.
"What did you say?" Ace thought she wanted to say something to him, so he leaned closer.
"You... You’re weak," Joanna said softly.
"I’m weak?" Ace raised his eyebrows in surprise. He had lived for more than two decades, but no one had ever claimed that he was weak, especially women.
Before he could argue with her, she hugged his neck, then turned and pinned him underneath her.
"Ace, why are you so stubborn? I try my best to get you out of my life, but you always show up somehow. Even if you’ve lost your memory and forgotten about me, why do you still want to mess with my mind?" Joanna glanced at the man with perfect facial features below her. Her eyes were unfocused, and Ace didn’t know if it was the alcohol talking or she was serious.
