Chapter 1734: Chapter 1734: Better Not Ask What Kind of Friend

"Oh." Stanley Zachmann was used to her being busier than himself, so he didn’t ask who she was having dinner with. Instead, he looked up and gently asked the girl, "Then, would you like me to give you a ride? I’m going with Master Cadmus and the others in the same car. Where is your dinner place? We can drop you off."

Nathalie Quinlan hadn’t answered yet when her phone started vibrating.

She took out her phone and looked down; it was a call from Candice Yancey.

Nathalie didn’t answer and hung up. Soon after, messages from Candice Yancey came pouring in.

[Candice: Nathalie, have you arrived? I’m waiting for you outside the airport. The car license plate is XXXX. Is your luggage heavy? Do you need me to come in to get you?]

Then came Mr. Yancey’s message on WhatsApp.

More succinct than Candice’s, conveying a hint of calmness.

[Mr. Yancey: I’m at the restaurant, Edric is here too. He said you like spicy chicken? I’ll order it for you if you don’t have a favorite dish.]

Nathalie rubbed her temples, a trace of helplessness flashing across her eyes.

She replied to Candice first, telling her to wait a bit, then she replied to Mr. Yancey on WhatsApp, saying he could just order a few dishes casually. She had eaten something on the airplane and wasn’t hungry now.

After replying to both, Nathalie found a moment to tell Stanley Zachmann, "No need, Dad, my friend is waiting for me outside. I’ll take her car."

Stanley Zachmann was actually quite curious about which ’friend’ she mentioned, but recalling Nathalie’s friends he’d met in Inderia, he thought it best not to ask.

There was Caleb Dax before, and Khendy Lordon too. He was still trying to get used to it all.

Nonetheless, he expressed his concern, "Alright then. Go have dinner with your friend. I won’t bother you. Just send me a message once you finish."

"Mm." Nathalie, without the slightest impatience, nodded with her delicate and eye-catching face, her expression lazy yet patient.

Stanley Zachmann’s brow relaxed, and he smiled, "I’ll sort out and bring over your mom’s things when I get back. You’re still staying at the Rhine?"

Amadeus Yancey had previously sent him the address, inviting him over.

But the thought of the daughter he’d finally found being whisked away by outsiders before he could warm her home made him uncomfortable, so he had never visited.

Now that he was almost done with his current matters and considering the recent events in Inderia had made him realize he still had shortcomings, he hesitated slightly before saying, "I’ll bring it to your home later."

Nathalie glanced at him, nodded, her voice slightly hoarse, "Okay."

Stanley Zachmann seemed even happier, enthusiastically suggesting, "Is Mr. Yancey around? I mentioned before that I wanted to invite him for dinner but haven’t yet. It’d be perfect for the three of us to have a meal together sometime."

Nathalie thought of the man still far away in Inderia and, with her beautiful dark eyes, replied, "He’s away on a trip and won’t be back for a few days."

"I see." Stanley Zachmann felt a bit of small regret, but he quickly brushed it aside, happily saying, "Next time, then. I’ll invite him when I get a chance. He’s a nice young man, and I have something I’d like to discuss with him."

"Okay." Nathalie nodded patiently and murmured ’Mm,’ taking a sip of coffee and tossing the empty can into the nearby trash bin.

After a few more words with Stanley Zachmann, Candice Yancey called again, likely wondering why Nathalie hadn’t come out yet.

Just then, Master Cadmus and the others’ car arrived.

Nathalie told them briefly and then grabbed her single shoulder bag, heading out to find Candice Yancey.
