The Vampire King's Possession-Chapter 73 - . A Pretty Vampire
Chapter 73: 73. A Pretty Vampire
A soft knock, "Come in," Mauve said and adjusted the sheets against her legs.
The door opened and Mill walked in holding a tray. Mauve immediately brightened at the sight of the food. Mill placed it beside her and nodded at her.
"Thank you," Mauve said and Mill walked out of the room.
Mauve dug into the meal, eating rapidly but making sure to chew properly before swallowing. She was famished but that didn't mean she didn't have the patience to relish the meal.
She ate the last of the food and placed the plate on the tray. She then leaned on the headboard for a couple of minutes before she slipped under the sheets, exposing just her head, and went to sleep.
She was out in mere seconds. The fact that she was no longer hungry made it easier for her to fall asleep faster

Mauve woke up groggily, rubbing her eyes hard. She yawned loudly and didn't bother covering her lips as she stretched out her hands simultaneously. Mauve felt her stiff muscles ease up as she stretched.
She brought her right hand to her neck, it was hurting a little. She bent it to the left and the right side, trying to ease up the pain. It helped but she could still feel a nagging ache.
She threw the sheets off the rest of her body and got out of bed. She was barely out of the bed when she yawned again. She was starving again, she wondered how long she was asleep. She hoped for a long time because if she was this hungry and it wasn't time for the second meal yet, she would be incredibly worried.
She adjusted the cover sheets before walking away from the bed. She walked to the dresser and was horrified at the reflection that looked back at her. She looked like she had been run over by a carriage.
Her hair was a bed nest and one of her eyelids looked lopsided. She rubbed it again and it looked normal again. She sighed and took a seat. She took the brush and tried to make her hair look less like she had been struck by lightning.
Sometime in her sleep, the scarf Mill had used to tie up her head had fallen off. She didn't recall seeing it on the bed and she just concentrated on trying to untangle her dress.
She yelped in pain as she pushed the brush down. She groaned out loud and tried to separate her hair into sections to make it easier to comb. She dropped the brush after a while, her hand was hurting.
It has been a while since she tried to take care of her hair herself. She groaned out loud. She didn't want to have to ask Mill because Mill already took care of her hair but she was a messy sleeper and she had ruined it.
A knock interrupted her thoughts and she jumped from the seat. "Come in," she managed to say after she had calmed her heart rate.
Mill walked in with the hint of a dance to her step. "Mauve, I see you are awake. I came by earlier and there was no response to my knock."
"I must have definitely still been asleep." She said with her back to the mirror.
"Well, you are awake in time for the second meal. Would you like me to bring your meal to the room?" Mill offered.
Mauve shook her head vigorously. "No, I will join them in the dining room. Thank you." She would rather face an awkward scene with Erick than have to stay in this room for another minute.
Mill nodded and turned around to leave.
"Mill," Mauve called softly, her eyes down and her fingers twiddled with the edge of her hair.
"Yes," Mill said, turning around to look back at Mauve, her expression gave nothing away.
"Do you think you can help me with my hair?" Mauve softly asked, her voice felt lodged in her throat, and was surprised when Mill answered as she was certain the woman had not heard her.
"Oh, of course, I assumed you wanted to do it yourself since you didn't call me up." As she spoke, she approached Mauve.
"Well, I didn't call you up because I didn't want to bother you."
"Bother me?" Mill asked with a frown. "I am to look after you, nothing else is a priority. The Primus would not be pleased if he found me lacking in my task so do not hesitate to call for me irrespective of the circumstances."
Mauve nodded vigorously at her words, "I won't hesitate."
"Good. Now hand me the brush, I'll take care of this."
Mauve gave Mill the brush and the vampire spun her around so she was facing the mirror again.
Mill worked swiftly, she started with the tips, carefully brushing them as she untangled the mess. She was done with half the hair in no time, she moved on to the other half and brushed Mauve's hair altogether.
"Would you like me to tie it as I did before or you'll prefer it down?"
"This is fine, thank you." Mauve already felt bad for troubling her, she did not want to take up more of her time, if it was almost time for the second meal Mill definitely had work to do.
Mill nodded and walked out of the room. Mauve watched her go and stared at her reflection. Her face looked presentable and she was grateful there weren't any sleep lines on her face that would have been annoying to get off.
She tucked her ears behind her ears and ran her fingers through her hair so some fell in front of her shoulders. Satisfied with the look, she headed out of the room.
She was early but she didn't care, she didn't want to have to wait and she could take her time to get to the dining hall. She took the stairs that led downstairs toward the kitchen one at a time.
She ran her hands over the railing as she walked down. On the last step the entrance doors flew open and the prettiest vampire she had seen walked in.
