The Vampire King's Possession-Chapter 74 - . Lady Jevera Levaton
Chapter 74: 74. Lady Jevera Levaton
Mauve froze on the last step and stared without modesty. The vampire's pale skin stood out in the dim light. She was dressed in pants and a buttoned shirt. A brown coat rested on her shoulders and her black boots almost completely disappeared in the dark.
Behind her were two guards who walked through the doors with her but it was pretty obvious who was in charge. They had held the doors open as she walked in and were now closing them.
Mauve couldn't really see her face from the stairs as the distance between the entrance and the stairs was a bit much but she couldn't stop staring. She was enthralled.

She had a stern expression and her gray eyes shone in the dark. Her wind-blown hair didn't make her look less pretty instead it made her look fierce.
The red hair was all over the place and Mauve knew she couldn't paint a better picture. She stood tall and proud and Mauve was instantly envious of her confidence.
The vampire immediately noticed her presence and jerked her gaze toward her. Mill felt goosebumps pop out her arms and she immediately knew they had met before now. The stare was more than enough to jog her memory.
Her memory wasn't the only thing that was jogged, she broke out of the trance and immediately brought her head down. She came down completely from the stairs just as servants rushed out from the inner rooms. They all bowed at the sight of her, only a maid approached her.
"Lady Jevera," the maid cried. "Welcome," she curtseyed and bowed simultaneously. "It is so lovely to have you back."
Mauve recognized the maid, she was Yasmin. So, this was Lady Jevera, Erick's cousin. She raised her head to peek at her but immediately brought it down.
Lady Jevera slowly turned her gaze from Mauve and looked at Yasmin. "Hmm. It better be good to be back."
She took off her coat and handed it to the maid who graciously accepted it and looked a little too happy in Mauve's opinion.
"Your bath water will be in your room in minutes and it is almost time for the second meal unless you would prefer to have your meal brought up to your room."
"Go get it ready, I will be in the room and ready to have my bath in two minutes."
As soon as the words left her lips, the servants dispersed like flies, and only the guards she had come with remained.
"Tell father I made it here safely. You may leave."
"Yes Milady," they said simultaneously. The doors opened and they were gone. Only then did Mauve realize that she was alone with Lady Jevera but that wasn't the only problem, she also realized she had not gone past the staircase and had just stood staring. She winced, she could feel the vampire's gaze on her.
The vampire took a step forward and Mauve's hand on her dress tightened. She gripped the hem of her dress tighter as she felt herself shrink. The tension was so intense, she felt it in her skin.
Lady Jevera was closer now and Mauve wished she could teleport. She was glad she was no longer in the way of the stairs as try as she might she could tell her legs to move, but they weren't listening to her.
It wasn't like she was scared, she was more overwhelmed. The vampire was a lot to take in but that wasn't the only problem Mauve could immediately tell Lady Jevera didn't like her.
She got closer and Mauve found herself bending her knees even before she gave her brain the order to do so. She opened her mouth to say something, anything but her throat wouldn't work.
The stare didn't ease up and maybe felt sweat break out of her back and drip downwards. However, she was grateful her legs still held, she couldn't afford to fall flat on her face here.
Lady Jevera got close enough for their shoulders to touch and Mauve held her breath until the vampire completely passed her. She released the breath she was holding and stumbled forward, just enough to uproot her from the spot.
Mauve was glad when her legs were walking again and she wasted no time in fleeing. She briskly walked down the ballroom and didn't stop walking until she got to the door of the dining hall.
There were no guards in front and she pushed the door open. She was glad when she saw the hall was empty. She needed a breather from the scene she had just experienced. She needed a moment to calm her nerves.
Mauve sat in her usual chair and placed her head on the table as she waited for her heart to return to normal. She slowly raised her head and covered it with her palm. It felt warm against her cold fingers.
She pulled her fingers from her face and stared at them, they were red from how hard she had gripped her dress. She hoped she would have to face another encounter with the Lady. She was a little too much for her to handle.
The door suddenly opened and Damon walked in, his eyes immediately darted around as though he was looking for something. When his gaze rested on her, his features softened but not enough to make a difference.
He walked to the table and took a seat. His hair was slicked back as usual but they looked hand run. He nodded to her and Mauve smiled at him but he didn't even see it as his attention immediately shifted to the door.
The door opened and Erick walked in, he had the hunt of a smile on his lips. He saw Damon and the smile immediately vanished.
"I see you are here early," he says coldly.
"I am never late," Damon said and looked away.
"Don't even think about it," Erick muttered as he passed Damon's back. "This human presence doesn't change anything."
