Chapter 218: Chapter 216

"Why is she not coming?" The chief healer asked as he looked anxiously at the Princess’s lady-in-waiting.

It was today that they were supposed to leave Duke Beaumont’s mansion. Although he did not see the Princess for a few days prior, he was still aware that she would not ignore the Emperor’s order. Especially when the Emperor had already sent the carriage, specifically to bring her back.

"Any particular reason?" Crown Prince Richard asked as he looked at the people standing there. He had simply hopped on the horse and then rode to the Beaumont mansion when he knew that his father had asked the Princess to come to the Palace. The plan was about to begin and he was yet to unravel the identity of the man who claimed to be the first Prince.

"The lady-in-waiting is not feeling well, and I thought it would be better if she stayed back a few days and tried to get the help that she needed." Lady Gisella said with a smile. "And it would be better if I bring the Princess to the Royal Palace. I am well aware of the situation and may be of help to the Princess. I hope the Crown Prince does not mind."

Lady Gisella’s words were straightforward, and Crown Prince Richard understood them clearly. It was good to have Lady Gisella who was on his side to accompany the Princess. In this way, he can keep an eye on her and make sure that she keeps to her side of the story. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"That will be better." Crown Prince Richard agreed. "But where is the Princess?"

"She is about to come out," Lady Gisella said, "I will have a look."

With those words, Lady Gisella turned around as she entered the mansion yet again, making her way to Prince Arlo’s room.

"Did the Duke not come?" Crown Prince Richard asked as he looked at Nia with narrowed eyes. He could see that her face was a little pale and maybe she really was not feeling well. But staying at the duke’s mansion without his consent was a big taboo. How could they make a decision on their own?

Nia shook her head as she lowered her voice. She knew that it was a test and deliberately made her voice sound sick. "We had never met the Duke. It was because Princess Eleanor was worried about me that Doctor Raul had suggested keeping me back as his patient."

Crown Prince Richard did not say anything as he looked at the chief healer. His eyes were asking if what the lady-in-waiting said was the truth.

The Chief healer nodded his head in agreement. He was there when the princess made a mess of things when she was worried about her lady-in-waiting. If it was not for Doctor Raul who had an irritated look on his face to sigh and declare his decision then, it would be impossible to make the Princess leave for the Royal palace.

"I will have to go now." Princess Eleanor said to Prince Arlo who nodded his head bravely. It was clear from his eyes that he was a little sad and yet he tried to control his emotions.

Princess Eleanor felt her heart sting. It was clear from the start that the Prince was too young. A ten year old child and yet he knew how to behave. He knew how to control his hurting heart and smile through it.

Princess Eleanor touched the Prince’s face as she smiled, "Do not worry. Everyone here is loving and caring. They will look after you and even Nia is going to stay back. You will always have someone you know beside you."

"But what about you?" Prince Arlo asked as he bit his lips. His eyes looked straight into her eyes full of worry. "You will be alone there."

"Lady Gisella will be there with me. So don’t worry too much." Princess Eleanor smiled but soon she heard a knock on the door. The indication was clear. The carriage was here.

Soon Lady Gisella stood at the door and looked inside. "Prince Richard is waiting for you."

Princess Eleanor’s eyes shook as she swallowed hard. She did not want to show her uneasy expression to her brother as she nodded her head. "Arlo, take care of yourself and do whatever Doctor Raul asks you to." Her hands held onto his as she kissed his palms. "I will make sure to bring you over to the palace soon. So trust me."

Prince Arlo nodded his head but could not help but moved his head as he burrowed himself into her arms. He held onto her tightly as he nodded his head again and again. "I will wait for you."

Princess Eleanor gave a sad smile as she got up, but soon she saw a man with a mask standing outside the door. Princess Eleanor smiled as he looked at Lady Gisella who underwood the gaze as she nodded, "I will wait at the front door."

Princess Eleanor smiled as she walked outside as she gave a last smile to Prince Arlo and nodded. The door was closed but soon she was pulled into the embrace of large arms, as a man’s breath ticked the back of her neck.

"I heard the Crown Prince is here." Princess Eleanor said in a small tone. Her eyes stayed on the closed door as she bit her lips. "Will you come to meet me?"

Sir Kit moved the Princess around as he made her face him. "Is there anything that is bothering you?"

"I am just a little afraid." Princess Eleanor did not deny it. Her eyes looked straight into Sir Kit’s as she continued explaining. "There is something that is bothering me. I have never gone out and fought on the enemy’s land."

"There is nothing to be afraid of. I will be there with you, so do not worry about anything else." Sir Kit caressed Princess Eleanor’s cheeks. "You were in the palace when your uncle took the throne. Didn’t you survive there?"

Princess Eleanor nodded. She was never afraid to go and attack the enemy but now the situation was different. Now there was someone that she loved, someone who she wanted to protect. There was a young brother who needed her care. She could not just act on her impulse without a care in the world. She could not keep her life on the line and neglect everything else.

"I will be there with you. You will not feel alone there, Princess. Just trust me on this and do not worry about anything else. You have someone who will protect you at all costs." Sir Kit said in a gentle voice as his thumb ran across her cheeks.

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she looked up at the man. She leaned towards him as she went into his arms, wrapping herself in his embrace as though it was a blanket.

Princess Eleanor wanted to feel the warmth for the last time before she left. She wanted to remember this feeling for the longest time.

Princess Eleanor bit her lips as she looked up. She could see the man’s eyes staring straight into hers. Princess Eleanor could not help but push herself up as she smiled. Her hands wrapped around his neck as she pulled his face closer to her own.

Princess Eleanor’s lips touched him as she leaned in deeper into the kiss. The kiss was strong as if she wanted to pull the man closer to him.

Soon they both turned breathless as they looked at each other. "Remember... Do not worry about anything."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She believed in his words as she smiled. "I know."

Soon they made their way outside and she saw Lady Gisella waiting for her at the front doors. Princess Eleanor took Sir Kit’s hand into hers as she looked up at him. "Meet up with me soon."

Sir Kit nodded his head as he kissed her hand. "I will, I promise."

Princess Eleanor was silent as she smiled softly before she walked outside with Lady Gisella. Her eyes looked at Sir Kit one last time before she turned around.

As soon as she walked out she saw the man standing in front of the carriage. Crown Prince Richard walked towards the Princess and he nodded to Lady Gisella before turning his head to the Princess.

"Princess really took her time," Prince Richard said in a small tone. His eyes looked straight into her eyes as if blaming her for making him wait.

"I had to make sure to take everything that belonged to me." Princess Eleanor said as she ignored the Crown Prince. Her eyes turned towards her lady-in-waiting as she said in a low tone. "Nia, make sure to come to me once you start feeling better. We cannot impose on Lady Gisella a lot."

Nia nodded her head as she looked down. Her eyes did not stay up as she took a deep breath. "Yes, Princess."

Princess Eleanor looked back at the Beaumont mansion before looking at the Crown Prince, whose hand was stretched out in front of her, ready to guide her towards the carriage.

Princess Eleanor smiled as she took his hand and entered the carriage with a smile. Her eyes looked at the mansion hoping to meet the people she loved soon.
