The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 229 - 227
Princess Eleanor looked at herself in the mirror. Today Lady Gisella had dressed her up in a beautiful ivory gown.
There were small details on her dress that shined and sparkled when she walked, making her feel like a fairy. Her black hair was pulled back, leaving a few wisps of curly hair framing her delicate face and the rest was twisted and secured into a tastefully elegant low bun. The earrings that dangled from her ears were made of diamonds and the necklace was a cluster of diamonds inlaid in a unique pattern of silver.
"This is just beautiful! " Princess Eleanor said with a smile on her face. Her lips were tinted red, giving her the confidence that she needed today.
"Princess." Lady Gisella walked in with a smile. She spread out the roses she had brought and looked at Princess Eleanor. "Crown Prince Richard had asked me to send them to you. He said you would like it."
Princess Eleanor could not help but laugh. Her eyes were sparkling as she shook her head. "What do you think? Will I like it?"
Lady Gisella sighed as she kept the rose on the gown. "Let’s just say that it does not go with your dress." Lady Gisella smiled as she continued. "Shall we..."
"Sir Kit...?"
"He will be there, Princess." Lady Gisella said in a small tone. "He could not help but do everything in his power to be near you." There was some hidden meaning behind her words as she looked straight into Princess Eleanor’s eyes. "So Princess, he will definitely find a way to meet you."
Princess Eleanor smiled as she nodded her head, "So shall we set off now?"
Lady Gisella smiled as she nodded before both of them walked outside. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Princess Eleanor walked into the ballroom. The whole place was decorated to the nines. It was well known that the High Priest, Priest Erasmus had made special arrangements to deliver the prophecy today. After all, the citizens of the Roulux Empire will be getting their future Crown Princess today who would bring prosperity.
"Princess, you need to be careful." Lady Gisella reminded but she kept her face normal as if whatever she was saying to her was an everyday occurrence. "People have eyes on all the Princesses."
"But we know the answers to the question, right?" Princess Eleanor smiled. "Don’t worry. I will not allow anyone to target me."
Lady Gisella breathed a sigh of relief. Soon many nobles surrounded Princess Eleanor and Lady Gisella and both of them got carried away in conversation.
Princess Eleanor was smiling and talking with other ladies as they discussed the dresses and jewelry but her eyes were constantly looking everywhere. She wanted to see just a glimpse of the man that she liked. But to her dismay, he was nowhere to be seen.
Soon everyone turned quiet as they saw the man in white walk towards the podium. He stood one step below the Royal family’s chair. It was only then that Princess Eleanor realized that the Emperor and Empress were still not there.
"We have gathered here to listen to the prophecy by God," Priest Erasmus said as his eyes sharpened. He looked straight ahead as he continued. "So before I recite the prophecy, I would like the Emperor to come down and take his seat. The man who God has chosen to be the Emperor. The man who would also welcome the new Crown Princess chosen by God and allow her to crown the next Crown Prince."
Whispers were going around. No one knew what it meant. What was the meaning behind the High Priest’s words?
The Emperor soon walked down as he smiled. His eyes looked at the people with a smile before turning them towards the High Priest. "You sure know how to play with words, Priest Erasmus." The Emperor said but it was a whisper that only he and the High Priest were privy to.
"I am a humble servant of God. I only recite what God asks me to." The High Priest responded with a smile. The Emperor looked down at everyone who bowed their heads, waiting for permission from the Emperor to raise their heads.
Once they got permission, everyone raised their heads only to realize that there were people with pale expressions.
The Empress did not like the way the High Priest had spoken. It was an open challenge to her son’s position. Her eyes narrowed as she took her seat.
"I feel that the High Priest is still young, saying the words carelessly." The Empress’s words were not soft and it was loud enough for everyone to hear.
Priest Erasmus did not shy away as he counterattacked. "As I have said Empress, I might be young but I am the only one who the Gods chose. If the Empress feel that I am not qualified enough, then should I say that you are choosing to oppose the Gods? Also in opposing the temple?"
The Empress’s face turned pale. She knew like everyone else, what power the temple held. If it was not for the help of the previous High Priest, she would never have been able to dispose of the previous Empress’s family. She would not have gotten the position she was in right now, nor would her son be the Crown Prince.
But even so, the Empress could not ignore the High Priest. His words were provocative, indicating that anyone chosen by the chosen Princess will be the future Crown Prince. Although she knew that anyone who was chosen would want to marry Prince Richard, there was a slight tremble in her heart that told her otherwise.
’Now that the first Prince is here, I cannot be quiet. Any word that comes out of the High Priest’s mouth is important and I simply cannot ignore it.’ The Empress thought as she bit her lips. Her hands formed a fist as she tried to control her burning emotions.
"Everything will be alright." Crown Prince Richard said as he smiled, looking at all the people with a benevolent manner. His eyes searched for Princess Eleanor in the crowd and when their eyes locked, his smile widened as he whispered. "Everything is under control, Mother. You do not need to worry about anything else."
The Empress nodded her head as she believed her son’s words. She was not in a position to question the man in front of anyone anyway. It would be an open challenge to the Temple and that would not reflect well on the Royal family.
The Emperor looked to the side as he sighed. He knew that the High Priest had something in mind today. It was evident from the way he was talking that he did not have any intention to back down now.
"I hope that everyone is ready to listen to God’s words." Priest Erasmus moved his body as he looked straight into the eyes of people. His gaze moved around the room, making sure that everyone was listening to him. "God had sent his prophecy down."
A smile formed on Priest Erasmus’ face, "The one who was born in winter when a star fell from the sky. Born as the guiding star for the Emperor, a beacon to the Empire."
As soon as Priest Erasmus said those words he swallowed hard as he looked at the Emperor. "I hope the Emperor knows what I am talking about. A rare phenomenon that occurred a few years back that was written down in history."
The Emperor nodded his head. He looked at all the Princesses as he said with a smile, "So who of you have been born in winter on the day when the star fell to the ground?"
The whispering became louder as everyone looked around. Many people were asking the same questions, but a few of the princesses were brave enough to walk forward. But their steps halted when they heard Priest Erasmus’ next words. "Before the Princesses come forward, I would like to say that the temple have already inquired and checked through the family registry. So the real Princess that deserves to be the chosen one is known to the temple."
Those Princesses took a step back as they remained silent. Their eyes looked around in envy as they took deep breaths, looking at the other Princesses, wanting to know who was the one chosen by God.
"But what if the date was written wrongly in the family registry?" The voice of one of the ladies sounded in the whole room. Everyone’s eyes turned as they looked at Princess Vida whose gaze was filled with an emotion of rebellion. "What if the King and Queen were afraid and thought that the birth of the Princess on the day of the fallen star was an indication of evil and changed the date in the family registry?"
Priest Erasmus smiled. He knew that Princess Vida would never back down. Not after she had struggled so hard to get to the position she was in, where the other nobles had favorable thoughts about her.
"Oh, it can be." Priest Erasmus nodded his head as he looked straight into Princess Vida’s eyes. His aura turned sharp as if he was angry that the Princess was questioning his authority. "But God had sent the chosen one’s name down. Can Princess Vida guess who that is? Someone that you care a lot about."
