The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 30: Different Thoughts
Hiding in the shadows, Luna Sutton: "..."
She had said her intuition was spot on; these two indeed had some secrets.
Had Maya Miller just stolen her sister’s love interest?
She clicked her tongue twice, decided not to watch anymore, and quietly slipped away.
As for other people’s business, she couldn’t be bothered to intervene, as long as it didn’t concern her directly.
Luna returned to her own cave, and was just about to go to sleep when her gaze fell on the entrance, considering when she might make a door to block it.
Although the tribe was very safe and no one would come by at night, having it this open still felt unsettling.
She quickly lay down on her stone bed.
There was dry grass spread beneath, soft though it was, but there was nothing to cover with, and she shivered from the cold.
So she took the animal hide from her basket and covered herself.
It was just a bit small, covering her stomach but not her feet.
She simply started a campfire in the middle of the cave; the flames lit up the entire cave and made it much warmer.
Luna lay back on her stone bed, one animal hide over her stomach and another over her feet.
Tonight she would make do, planning to borrow a bone needle and some fish intestine thread from someone tomorrow to stitch the hides together into a thin blanket.
Perhaps she was exhausted from the day and had just taken a bath, because her mind was hazily dwelling on trivial matters, but she fell asleep quickly.
However, she was woken up in the middle of the night by noise.
The sounds of the tribe’s beastmen pairing with females were louder than each other, as if competing; exceptionally clear, and notably loud in the night’s silence.
The noise kept her from sleeping, leaving her feeling very annoyed.
Looking at the pitch-black night outside the cave, her brows furrowed tightly.
Every night was like a singing contest, going nonstop till the early hours.
She really admired these beastmen’s energy. They hunted during the day and then were so energetic at night, did they need no rest?
Luna didn’t know that most of the tribe’s females had several beast husbands; four or five was typical.
They would take turns at night, so it took several days for each turn, naturally working through the night.
Anyway, they could rest on other nights; the night it was their turn, they were as if filled with a fierce energy.
The tribe’s females didn’t need to work; their beast husbands took care of them, and they only had to focus on reproduction.
At night they paired with males, and during the day, most of the time, they rested.
In the morning, they might wash animal hides or come out to roast meat if they were hungry.
But most of the time, they just laid around.
Luna turned over, thinking that this wasn’t a sustainable solution.
She needed to find a way to block the cave entrance with some kind of door tomorrow, to block out some of the noise.
She sighed, lay back down, and used the animal hide to cover her ears, trying to shut out the noise outside.
Fortunately, the noise gradually subsided, and she drifted back to sleep in the early hours. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
In Malachi Arcanus’s cave, spacious and deep, the bright moonlight shone through the entrance, casting a wild and untamable beauty on his handsome face, with a few traces of wildness and unruliness.
His muscles appeared even more robust and powerful in the moonlight, as if containing endless strength and passion.
Malachi lay on his stone bed, listening to the pairing sounds echoing throughout the tribe, something he was long used to.
Even felt numb to.
But tonight, those sounds made it so he couldn’t sleep, turning restlessly.
His mind involuntarily recalled that scene today when returning from hunting in Tagren Forest, with Luna in her ragged grass skirt sitting on his back.
The leaves behind her had rotted away, and she was just sitting on his back like that.
At that time, he hadn’t noticed, just felt like a big lump of fat sitting on him, pressing against his ribs on both sides, warm and making him feel disgusted.
Malachi shivered thinking back to that lump of fat pressing against him.
But then he remembered how she sat on his back, being tossed about without making a sound, not daring to hold onto his neck.
And when they returned to the tribe and she discovered the leaves rotting behind her, how she had looked as if she wanted to die of shame and embarrassment.
Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile.
Suddenly he realized, Luna didn’t seem so hateful after all.
At least, today, she was amusing to him.
Not as annoying as she used to be.
But when he thought of her nearly 300-pound frame and those huge buck teeth...
The smile on Malachi’s lips froze, and whatever goodwill he had vanished.
He realized he couldn’t accept Luna’s ugliness.
She was really ugly.
Then he remembered how in the Tribal Square tonight, she had slapped Mia back after being slapped and her newly awakened Wood Healing Ability.
She wasn’t so bad after all.
At least she was much better than before.
Malachi found his feelings towards Luna becoming complicated, not as disgusted as before.
But he still couldn’t find it in himself to like her.
He turned over, lying back on the bed, hands resting behind his head, looking at the rock ceiling, filled with a myriad of thoughts.
He didn’t know when he fell asleep.
Corbin Crowley’s cave was at the top of the tribe’s peak, surrounded by dense trees, appearing quiet and mysterious.
Corbin lay on the spacious stone bed, silver moonlight casting shadows of varying depths over his chiseled profile.
His silver eyes were as deep as the night sky, gleaming with a cold light.
Tonight, he was also disturbed by the relentless sounds of pairing in the tribe, with a certain inexplicable restlessness arising.
His face darkened, turning over irritably.
But soon, his mind involuntarily conjured Luna Sutton’s face, fat and bloated, with a flat and broad nose, eyes so small they were almost invisible, and a mouth full of large buck teeth.
A massive body with layers of fat; particularly the fat around her waist drooping below her buttocks, which were large enough to make several others envious.
Filled with a sense of revulsion, whatever desire he had vanished instantly.
He sat up abruptly, his face dark enough to drip water.
What was he thinking?
How could he think of that lumpy woman?
He even visualized her waist fat and enormous buttocks.
Corbin’s face soured, silver eyes flashing fiercely.
It must have been the influence of the tribal sounds, sparking a desire for mating.
So he covered his ears, lay back down, and closed his eyes to sleep.
This time, Luna Sutton’s face didn’t reappear in his mind, and he soon fell asleep.
Zeke Veridian and Rhys Blackwood weren’t any better off, their thoughts varied.
Kian Sterling, however, slept soundly, not only soundly but deeply, completely exhausted.
After giving Luna the coarse salt, he went straight to the nearby Moonlight Forest, selected two sturdy trees, and broke them.
He figured out a way to cut them into sections, following Luna’s method, hollowing them out, leaving the outer parts and base intact, and finely smoothing them.
After working for nearly an hour, he managed to carve out two wooden buckets and two wooden basins.
Poor fellow had his two fox paws worn quite a bit, wondering if it would affect his hunting.
He naturally had no inclination to ponder such miscellaneous things, retreating to sleep after the arduous task.
......
The next day.
As the sky barely turned light, Luna Sutton awakened.
She was roused by the cold; the fire in the cave had burned out in the early dawn, and having slept deeply, she hadn’t woken up to add more wood, with the animal hide also slipping to the ground.
Woken by the chill.
Yawning, she got up to pick up the fallen animal hide, dusted it off, and casually placed it back on the stone bed.
Seeing it was already bright, Luna decided not to sleep any longer and got up to go outside and wash up.
She used the salt Kian Sterling gave her last night to rinse her mouth, washed her face, and felt much more awake.
