The Witcher – Uchiha Madara!-Chapter 216 – They have arrived.
[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kaedwen.
...
...
Near the northern mountains.
Wings flapped in the sky, as two dragons were coming out of the northern mountains, heading south.
"We're finally entering the human realm," the green dragon said cheerfully.
"Yes... just be careful with the humans, they're treacherous as we've already seen," the gray dragon commented.
"Are they as strong as the one who invaded Val Drahzûn? It wouldn't be too dangerous to face them, but just one of them put us in those chains and we were trapped for days without anyone noticing us... it was painful to stay hungry for so long!" the green dragon said with some concern.
"Don't be foolish, Ignavros. I've killed some of them, and you can be sure none were as strong as the one who managed to escape our valley."
The gray dragon Vornaxis replied to Ignavros, the smaller green dragon, nodding in agreement.
They continued flapping their wings, moving southward.
After being freed by the other dragons from the chains Madara had placed on them, they were certainly not happy at all with their humiliating situation caused by a human—becoming even a joke among the other dragons in recent weeks.
And soon after discovering that he had escaped the dragons who were chasing him through the mountains, it brought their frustration toward that human to a peak.
Vornaxis, the oldest and most prideful, wouldn't let that go unpunished. He would hunt the human, even if he had to descend into their realm to find him.
Until then, they had remained in the Dragon's Vale, not advancing into the human realm.
But as soon as they heard from some dragons about the powerful magical explosion coming from the human realm, near patrols that were in the southern mountains after Madara's invasion, they kept their eyes open and passed the information on to other dragons below the Central Vale of Val Drahzûn.
The two of them heard it immediately.
So they departed alone.
There was no rule preventing dragons from going out to explore the world.
After all, they were well protected, surrounded by mountains, and no human army could invade their lands with the natural defenses provided by hundreds or even thousands of mountainous peaks. The only way to reach them was by flying.
At the same time, they were peaceful creatures, preferring to live in the mountains in peace, believing themselves superior to any other race in this world.
However, the case of the human had left a deep wound, especially in Vornaxis.
He had been defeated by a human who spat fire at him, managed to go head-to-head with a blast of flames along with his companion, and then tied him up.
And recalling this, he felt his fury grow, as he suggested hunting down that human for revenge to Ignavros.
Dragons normally didn't care much about the outside world.
That's why they rarely bothered to descend into the lower realms.
But these two were moving forward to explore the site of the explosion, hoping to find some human involved in the recent blast.
And it could very well be that human.
As they descended, they saw an entire area destroyed, with several burned trees and all vegetation gone, the land reduced to charcoal.
"There are humans ahead," Ignavros murmured.
"Yes, it's true," replied the gray dragon, as he advanced toward them.
There was a group of mages and another group of people still studying the cause of the magical explosion, not knowing exactly what had happened there.
It was mid-afternoon when they saw something in the sky, due to the loud sound of wings echoing through the air.
When they looked up, they saw two creatures larger than any birds in their memories, before quickly realizing how rare those creatures were.
"Dragons?!" one of the sorcerers murmured, and in the next moment, the dragons landed on top of them, breaking the scorched ground as everyone recoiled in fear, falling backward.
"It can't be?!"
Everyone there almost had their hearts leap out of their chests as, amidst all the rising dust, colossal heads of powerful creatures began to emerge.
Dragons were rare to be seen, with some even transforming into human forms to camouflage among people, but seeing dragons there in their full form, as they began to stare down at the gathered humans, was something else—they knew very well the danger these creatures represented.
The stories of dragons had always been part of the folklore in all kingdoms, and their forms had always been depicted, despite being one of the rarest of all creatures.
"Why... why are there dragons here?!"
The sorcerers stood up in panic, preparing whatever they could, or even attempting to cast portals to escape, while the soldiers and scholars simply trembled, expecting certain death.
"They don't look like much..."
Ignavros studied the humans there, seeing them all shaking with frightened looks on their faces.
"Didn't I tell you?" Vornaxis said, observing them.
"Looks like he's not here..." Ignavros said.
"That's disappointing... and the place is full of chaotic energy... doesn't seem like it was caused by him either,"
Vornaxis remarked, knowing very well that Madara's spells were strange, though he couldn't really tell if it had been him—he couldn't sense his energy.
"What should we do...?" Ignavros asked.
"Let's fly through the human world. Let's try to find him..."
Vornaxis said, although he was quite surprised that the explosion had been caused by something so powerful. But it wasn't his concern there—only hunting that human.
"Let's go then..."
With that, both dragons began to soar into the sky once more, leaving the place behind as the humans there sighed in relief with the creatures flying away.
"What was that?!"
The soldiers couldn't help but mutter as they watched the dragons appearing like just two birds in the sky as they distanced themselves, after merely staring at them.
"I don't know... but we must report that two dragons just appeared here.
They also seem to be curious about the magical explosion of this magnitude,"
a sorcerer said, opening a portal before stepping through it.
Everyone there was very confused about what had happened.
Meanwhile, to the north, Madara, Ciri, and Geralt continued their path toward the mountains while avoiding any contact with people roaming around who might report the sighting of suspicious individuals like them.
Even a few hunters had to fall under Madara's genjutsu when they came across their tracks in the forest or accidentally bumped into them.
Madara always erased their memories.
The mountains were now just a few days' journey away, already visible in their grandeur.
"Incredible!"
Ciri commented, seeing the mountain range stretching past the clouds, heading south without an end in sight, with even more peaks still appearing past the horizon as they approached.
"This continent clearly has a strange natural architecture..."
Madara couldn't help but remark. Besides the continent being divided between north and south, in the northern part, there was a gorge, as they could now see, full of massive mountains side by side, splitting the north in two.
It only ended nearby, almost at the northern mountains, with just a small space used for main roads.
And the end of this division was near Sodden to the south—Kaedwen and Lyria were separated on the other side, while Temeria and Redania, along with a few other kingdoms, were further to the north.
Additionally, the continent had mountains on all sides to the east and north.
In fact, only part of the continent had been mapped, and the mountains prevented people from advancing further with cartography—mainly due to the dangers lurking in those peaks.
There were no civilizations there; shadowy creatures and wild beasts ruled that side of the continent, even being the reason for many monsters appearing here, born from those lands.
There were also the dragons, who were even more dangerous.
Minato had once ventured into their land, and he doubted anyone else would be capable of what he did—entering their vale and meeting some of them.
"You get used to it once you start traveling," Geralt said with a calm look.
He had passed through here many times during his life and was very familiar with the view.
"I can't wait to see the other side... It looks amazing," Ciri said cheerfully.
"Anyway, let's stick to the plan and go through the dwarves' entrance," Madara said.
No one said anything after that as they moved on over the next few days, maintaining their routine of leaving no traces behind, as dusk began to fall.
Madara suddenly looked up, spotting two small dots in the sky, before activating the Sharingan and confirming what was happening.
"What are those two doing here?" he murmured with a serious look, quickly recognizing the two dragons he had fought more than a month ago.
One of them, the smaller green one, was the one who had taken him to the land of the dragons, getting stuck on its snout by chakra.
"Something wrong?" Geralt asked cautiously, looking in Madara's direction.
But he couldn't see that far—nor could Madara, really—but he could identify the faint chaotic energy the dragons carried, associating it with the ones he had easily fought.
"Hey, Vornaxis... how are we supposed to find him like this?"
Ignavros asked, looking out over the vastness of the human world, endless to his eyes in the sky.
He could see countless cities, forests, rivers, while the humans were tiny to his vision. Searching for Madara would be a nightmare.
"I don't know... we just have to keep looking," Vornaxis said.
"Maybe we should've talked to those humans... The name of the one who attacked us was Madara Uchiha... shouldn't we ask if they know him?"
Ignavros asked in an innocent tone.
"..." Vornaxis.
"..." Ignavros.
Both dragons fell silent as they thought about it, until Vornaxis finally snorted.
"I think you're right... let's go back and ask.
We have to be quick—at night the humans return to their built homes and sleep there. We have to catch them before they leave,"
Vornaxis said, and Ignavros nodded.
Suddenly, the dragons began to turn back, while Madara curiously watched what they were doing.
In the end, he just shrugged, while Ciri and Geralt watched him, noticing he remained on alert the entire time.
"It's nothing... They've left," Madara said.
"What was up there?" Ciri asked, bewildered by the situation.
"Dragons," Madara replied.
"..." Geralt.
"..." Ciri.
"Wait... dragons... were they after you for invading their land?"
Geralt murmured, almost not believing it.
"Maybe... I remember chaining both of them before leaving the vale,"
Madara answered calmly, as if it weren't anything important, while Geralt and Ciri looked at him as if he had grown a second head on his neck—but they said nothing and kept walking.
Back at the destroyed area, the presence of the dragons had caused major chaos, with most of the sorcerers leaving to inform their leaders about the curiosity of dragons—beings that hadn't been seen on the continent in years.
Even most of the soldiers and knights had left, though they kept a handful of sorcerers and mages on site.
Everything seemed calm as night quickly began to overtake the day, with them setting up camp and lighting fires to stay a few more days, researching the location and better analyzing the magical force that had caused it, trying to uncover its origin.
"Man, what really happened here?"
one of them murmured, gathered with his companions in front of a fire, eating.
"Even with so many sorcerers here in the last few days, we haven't been able to conclude what could've caused that explosion... and the wreckage of an entire forest—now dragons are showing up too,"
another replied with a tired expression.
"Who knows... I just hope I don't see any more dragons,"
another muttered cautiously.
And that was when something changed in the area.
Everything seemed normal, until suddenly, an explosion erupted near the camp.
A freezing wind took everyone by surprise, blowing in from the explosion, glowing with a mix of white, gray, and black, extinguishing all the campfires instantly and freezing the surroundings in an instant, with everyone recoiling at the overwhelming energy that came without warning.
The glow of a portal began to illuminate the area, with sorcerers and soldiers scrambling to prepare themselves, shouting and questioning what it was.
Then, suddenly, things began to emerge from the oval portal of light.
Their black, frost-touched armor appeared from within, and they began to surround the camp, as screams of fear came from the humans there, questioning what those creatures were.
Soldiers clad in skeletal, icy armor began to march toward them, accompanied by strange, horned hounds.
Everyone simply swallowed hard, unsure of what to do, terrified.
Those things were over two meters tall, carried heavy weapons, and looked at them as if they were nothing but insects.
At the same time, one of the sorcerers pointed, trembling among the group.
"I know what this is... It's from the legends... It's the Wild Hunt!"
he exclaimed, as the skeletal soldiers continued to emerge from the portals, making the temperature drop even more drastically just with their presence.
