Chapter 119: The Most Imperfect Anomaly (4)

"Weak?" Devion raised a brow. Perhaps, at their level, it was indeed weak. But if someone apart from them stumbled in this place, they might not see it that way.

Its ability truly had the potential.

"Yes, it’s weak. But, how can we leave?" Devion had multiple ideas, but not necessarily a good solution. "Don’t tell me, you want us to talk with it?"

Devion had a deadpan expression as he looked at Khal. He said these words without being convinced himself, but when he saw how Khal’s lips curled, and Ayen also did not have a negative reaction...

"Hey." Devion tilted his head and poked Khal’s chest lightly with his fist. "Are you serious?"

Khal chuckled and held Devion’s hand.

"Why not?" This response clearly confirmed Devion’s words.

Although he already had a hunch, Devion was still dumbfounded to have his assumption be correct.

"Huh? Are you mad?" Devion chuckled without humor, then looked at Ayen. "What do you think?"

Ayen should be more reasonable. However, he was mistaken yet again. Ayen only thought for a moment and concluded that it should be plausible.

"Maybe, we can try," Ayen glanced at Khal. Clearly, he trusted that since Khal had thought of this possibility, then it was something that could be done.

Devion fell silent. He remained unconvinced. He furrowed his brows and averted his gaze.

Why did the two insist on this? Or was he too narrow-minded? Perhaps, indeed, he was. Devion could not see any reason why they had to talk with the anomaly.

No matter how weak it was, it was still an anomaly. Devion did not fear fighting. He was prepared for a battle, and his plan was actually to use brute force to leave.

Somewhere, there had to be an opening that they could use.

Why talk to it? It was an enemy. He did not care if the other side had not shown any malicious intent yet. Soon, they would be. That was on their instinct.

Devion could not understand. However, the two truly thought it was possible. Or... Was he just an idiot unable to see the big picture?

Yes, perhaps that was the reason he could not understand. He was just...

"Babe," Khal’s call snapped Devion out of his thoughts.

When Khal saw that Devion’s focus returned, he led Devion’s hand to his lips and kissed it. "Can you listen to me, first?"

Khal put on an assuring smile, but his eyes flickered with caution.

"I can see that you’re lost in your thoughts."

Devion’s mouth parted, his gaze shifted to Khal and Ayen. Ayen’s worried expression showed that his state was indeed worrying. His mental state was never that good, and it deteriorated over the years.

Khal was aware of it, and Ayen had also discovered it.

He then bit his lip before he finally sighed. Devion closed his eyes and opened them again. He squeezed both hands and put on a smile.

"Tell me your reason. I’ll listen."

Ayen wordlessly leaned on Devion’s body. Devion’s smile became more genuine because of that. Watching them, Khal also could not help but smile. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

He firmly locked his fingers with Devion. Making sure the other was aware that he was there. He had been doing it for so many years. And somehow he was glad that, now, he was not alone.

That Devion now had another person who held his existence and made him stable.

"If I’m not mistaken, it was only born not long ago. It was like a new and blank consciousness." Khal started to explain his thoughts while the two listened to him attentively.

When Khal noticed the town, even before they entered its walls, he already suspected something was amiss. However, as he said, it was faint and weak.

He merely thought it was interesting, something Devion would like, and for Ayen to encounter another unfamiliar event.

The mana disturbances around the town further intrigued him, but he did not really sense any danger from them. Although the place had five mana disturbance sources, it never once attacked them.

Only after they took the initiative to show Ayen the anomaly did it manifest. There was no malicious intent or offensive power from them.

It was very different from the known mana disturbances. It should be known that each of them was notorious and feared in the world because of the countless deaths they caused.

And this place was not discovered because it was cut off from the world, as though the ’observer’ specifically made it so.

"This place is quite unexpected for me." Khal had to admit this part. "I never thought it could create a scene and make it look realistic."

Honestly, saying this world was merely a scene was like downplaying its ability. If anything, it was amazing. Its potential was indeed top-notch.

Devion nodded, and so did Ayen. As for Ayen, he did not have a particular opinion about it. So, he was not that amazed.

Khal’s gaze deepened, and he looked up. It was as though he sensed the observer’s gaze once more.

"It has an obvious flaw. It’s clueless about most things, unable to maximize its abilities."

In fact, they might be its first-ever visitor, which was the reason for its flaw. One could call it luck. Khal truly thought so. To have stumbled upon something so interesting and something so rare.

He could not help but look at Ayen, his eyes filled with inexplicable meanings and emotions. Khal did not say anything about his thoughts, however, and continued to explain.

"It can’t completely restrict us. And it has no intention to do so."

This was the biggest flaw. They were transported to this place, which is almost like a complete replica of the past. Everyone had their consciousness and will.

No one would think they were fake.

The three of them entered the bodies of the natives so as not to disrupt the perfect scene. However, they were still in the bodies of espers and a guide.

If it were malicious, it could transfer into the bodies of ordinary people and completely restrict their abilities. And when Khal entered a dead body, it could inflict more consequences, but he had not felt anything.
