The X Guide-Chapter 135: Next Stage (6)
The soft expression in Khal’s expression immediately disappeared. He stood up, careful not to disturb the two sleeping on the bed. He went to the balcony and closed the door behind him.
One person was already waiting there for him. Khal glanced at him; the man shivered, but his back remained straight.
It was common knowledge that anyone reporting to the leader must maintain their composure and was not allowed to show weakness, despite the oppressive atmosphere Khal brought.
One should not bow their head too much, buckle their knees, or kneel directly. It was seen as disrespectful despite the submissive implication.
They must maintain their dignity. One Khal wanted to see more than them kneeling to him.
Khal did not say anything and stood overlooking the dark coast.
This was a cue for him to report. The moment that Khal entered the Port City, they were quickly alerted.
"The clash between the two forces started," he began his report. The chaos that started in one zone had now spread to the surrounding zones and settlements.
"The tension in the capital had also reached new heights."
They were asked to lie low, but this was actually for the organization as a whole. But for the members who had popular identities, they could enter whenever they wanted.
This was merely a start, a probe of each other’s strengths. No one would go all out at the start of the game.
"Also," the man added slowly, "A group of clan members arrived yesterday. We’re monitoring them and have yet to take any action."
Any orders from the leader were strictly carried out. While the clan members were obviously here to create trouble, they chose to ask for instructions on how to deal with them.
"Which clan did they come from?" Khal asked casually. He was not concerned about their presence at all.
"Some are from the small to medium clans. But there are members from the elite clans. They are from the Thorne and Nevaris clans."
He did not notice Khal’s eyes flicker at the mention of the Nevaris Clan. "Are they direct descendants?"
The man shook his head. "They aren’t. But only affiliated espers."
Khal’s interest quickly faded. He thought he might give an early gift to Ayen, but it turned out they were not direct descendants. It was only meaningful if they were.
Still, he would not let anyone mess with his turf. The moment they set foot in this place and wanted to disrupt the peace, they were already dead in his eyes.
In a way, Khal was always biased with his own.
"Kill them." Khal was about to wave his hand after saying that order when he paused. "On second thought, spare the members of the Nevaris Clan. Just knock them off and deliver them in one piece in their territory."
The man did not ask about the rest. Obviously, they needed to be killed. He quickly understood their leader’s intention. They had no compassion for clan members who were here to create chaos in the first place.
Khal said something else, and the man affirmed before he dismissed himself. Then, Khal was left. He stared ahead, expressionless. The intense cold in his gaze almost freezes everything around him.
However, it was just an illusion.
Khal’s control of his mana was impeccable enough not to manifest it even when his emotions were unstable. He held onto the railing, his hands gripped on it, veins bulging in his arms.
Khal closed his eyes.
No matter how powerful he was, he could only make sure those under his protection were safe and sound. As for the rest of the world... They could only wait.
Soon.
The next day, Ayen stared at the behemoth before him. He could tell that only half of it appeared on the surface of the water, and the rest of its body was under the water.
Ayen was always surprised, but this was the first time his jaw truly dropped. He could not even say a word; he was truly speechless.
"A submarine?" Devion loudly pointed at it. "Fuck. When did you even prepare this? No, I didn’t even know you owned one!"
When they rented a small boat to go to a nearby island, Devion thought the ship might be big, and it would be too eye-catching. He never expected it to be a submarine.
Khal laughed at their reactions.
"Don’t you laugh. Ayen, this piece of shit loves to show off!"
Ayen blinked and then turned to them. The two who had begun to bicker paused and could not help but stare at him.
It was because Ayen’s eyes were shining; the pure excitement was practically written in his eyes. Ayen was so amazed that his heart was thumping.
He did not even care about how Khal managed to get it, or if he owned it, or whatever. He wanted to ride on that! It was even better than a large ship; he thought Khal had prepared for them.
"Ayen is..." Devion forgot everything he wanted to say. All that he could see was Ayen’s excited expression.
Khal smiled.
"Adorable," he completed Devion’s words. And Devion nodded.
"Yes, he is."
Now, Devion finally forgot to interrogate Khal. Khal glanced at him and inwardly sighed in relief.
Since Ayen also wanted to ride the submarine, they did not wait any longer. It was fully operated by mana cores and only needed to be steered once in a while to give directions.
Devion supported Ayen as they entered the submarine without waiting for Khal.
Khal watched them intently, and only when they were out of his sight did he turn to the same man who reported something to him last night.
An envelope appeared in his hand, and he gave it to the man.
"Deliver it to the headquarters." His gaze was solemn and chilling. "It’s very important. No one must be careless in handling this. As for Team 1Z, call them to focus on this."
The man was a bit surprised. Everyone knew that Team 1Z had a very important position and directly reported to Khal. They managed everything related to curses.
For them to also be called, how important was this mission? The man gulped and felt that the envelope was too heavy.
Still, the man nodded.
’Understood!"
Khal nodded and approached the submarine. His hands clenched.
That curse...
It was time to deal with it once and for all.
