The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 272: The long road to trust.
The two boys were named Wu. One was Wu Wei and the other Wu Gang. They were quite tall for their age, at par with Yuewei in height if Alix had to guess. One was shy as he didn’t meet Alix’s eyes but the other was rather bold and quite protective of the shy one with the way a part of his body covered his brother.
Funnily enough, Wu Wei was the younger one but he was also the protective one. Wu Gang, the older brother was the shy one.
There was no doubt when she set her eyes on them that they were Lin Qianfan’s sons. Their eyes, nose and height all modeled after him.
The principal of the orphanage, Yumei a kind old motherly middle lady that smelled of butterscotch candy. In her small office, she kept pushing the boys towards Alix but they were hesitant.
"Wei, Gang, don’t be shy. This is your sister, the one I told you about. She has been looking for you two for quite sometime."
She had already received a business card from Alix, a cheque, cash transfer, the gifts she had brought and a document which proved relation. The document happened to be a DNA test and a picture of Lin Qianfan with the mother of the twins.
As far as the principal was concerned, this was a god thing. The two children were lucky that they had family and not just any family but a rich family. Their lives would be so much better now.
"Wei, Gang, you are both going home with your sister. This is a good thing, you don’t have to be alone anymore. You are such good boys, I hope that you continue to be that way even when you leave. I also know that you will miss your friends after you leave but you don’t have to worry. Our doors will always be open for you both. You can visit us anytime you feel like it."
Alix stood up, indicating that she was ready to leave. Whether the boys trusted her or not, would be a matter to be settled later.
The principal stood up as well and the two boys who had bene informed in advance that they would be leaving picked up their bags. They didn’t have much, it seemed. All their worldly possessions could fit into school bags and carried over their shoulders.
It reminded Alix of the day when she left the Lin family villa, carrying only a bag just like them. They had lived just as wretchedly as she did in the past it seemed.
The principal walked her all the way to her car smiling so broadly as she thanked Alix for everything she had donated and when they were leaving, she even followed the car and waved until it disappeared from her view.
Inside of the car, after ten minutes of unnecessary silence Alix faced the two boys, and she said, "Don’t the two of you have any questions for me?"
Wu Wei looked at her with skittish eyes. He looked like a cornered animal that had been captured by a predator.
Calmly, she explained to the boys, "I am not a bad guy, I promise you. I really am your sister, Li...no, just Alix. That man you saw in the photograph is truly your biological father."
Then, to her surprise or perhaps not, Wu Wei said in a rough voice, "Our mother said that our father didn’t want anything to do with her and us back then. Why does he want us now?"
She laughed softly but mockingly and cursed Lin Qianfan in her mind. He should have been arrested for what he went around doing.
"It’s not him that wants you. Our father is an asshole, a bad man, selfish and cruel. His wife is even worse, she is a wolf that will corner you and take your life to protect her daughter. If she ever comes around looking for you, cause a scene and run away.
It’s not our father that wants you. I found you on my own and I couldn’t leave you in an orphanage, we share blood after all.
We have another brother, he is a year older than you. His name is Yuewei. His mother is the woman that came to see you yesterday. You will be staying with our brother and his mother for a while.
You can also stay with me but I live with my husband. I thought it would be easier for you to live with someone closer to your age. Yuewei is looking forward to meeting you guys. What do you think, do you want to live with me or Yuewei?"
As she had already had this conversation with Caishen and he was open to it, she could bring them home directly. But Meifen was willing to take them in because Yuewei also wanted to live with them.
"We will go with you." Wu Wei answered decisively.
"Huh!" her mouth fell open.
"We don’t want to live with another stranger." He said.
His young face was filled with seriousness when he said it.
"Pffft." Alix raised her hand to ruffle the boys hair. He was too serious for his age. Playing protector to his brother had surely caused him to mature a lot faster.
He frowned and lowered his head slightly.
"Oh, sorry." She retreated her hand, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.
"Mmm, I had promised Yuewei that you would spend tonight with him. I want to be the kind of sister that keeps her word to all her siblings so if you don’t mind, spend the night with him and get to know each other better. Tomorrow, the driver will bring you to my place after school. Yuewei attends my school, Yuwen academy. In order to keep you both safe, I want to transfer you as well. Is it okay?"
She spoke to Wu Wei as if he was an adult because that was the way he carried himself. He had been making decisions for himself and Wu Gang for long and she wanted to give him the feeling of still being in control.
He nodded, accepting what she had said. She was their guardian after all.
She tilted her head and looked at Wu Gang. He was peeping at her but when she looked at him, he smiled shyly and looked away.
"Is the kid mentally okay?" The system asked her. "They have no medical records I can find. That kind of shyness doesn’t seem normal."
Alix looked at Wu Gang thoughtfully as she pondered on the question. She decided that the boys would have to get a medical check up.
Perhaps Wu Wei felt uncomfortable with the way she was staring at Wu Gang because he shielded his brother with his body.
Alix retrieved her eyes and smiled. "Wu Gang is cute."
Wu Wei nodded stiffly.
She sighed and said, "Do you want to tell me about yourself and Wu Gang? I would love to know more about you, like the things you like. You can tell me anything, like the subjects you like or if you play sports. Yuewei plays badminton and baseball."
As the car continued its journey to Yuwen academy, Alix figured that it would be a long journey to gaining the trust of her brothers. In a way, this was a good thing. Just as they didn’t trust her, Lin Qianfan and Jing Hee would not be able to fool them easily.
