Shen Jingchen had only meant it as a joke, but Zhao Chengning ended up taking it seriously. The next day, he insisted on taking time out of his day to visit the doctor with his wife.

In his mind, he'd been tirelessly 'sowing his seeds' all day and night, so there was no reason for his hard work not to pay off!

Sure enough, as the saying goes, heaven doesn't disappoint those who put in effort.

His hard work did pay off!

If it weren't for the mass of people in the hospital, he wouldn't put his hands on his hips and laughed at the sky.

The doctor said that Shen Jingbin was three and a half weeks pregnant. Her condition was fine, so there was no cause for concern.

Shen Jingbin was still in a bit of a daze when she stepped out of the hospital. She subconsciously rubbed her belly. Was there really a baby inside?

It was a truly wonderful feeling. Although she did think that such a day would come to pass at some point, what she imagined and reality were different. She was only able to truly experience the emotions that motherhood brought about now.

"Dear," yelled Zhao Chengning all of a sudden.

"Hm?" Shen Jingbin shot him a look of confusion as she turned to face him.

Zhao Chengning plastered himself against her and placed a hand behind her back. His tender gaze was locked on her as he said, "I'm going to be a father."

Shen Jingbin's couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile, whilst her eyes and eyebrows were filled with mirth.

"Mm."

"I've always been thinking of this day, even when I'm dreaming," he said as he squatted down and gently pressed his head against her belly.

Shen Jingbin remained silent as she gazed lovingly at the man squatting before her.

Everyone coming and going from the hospital couldn't help but slow their steps and look at the young couple.

News of Shen Jingbin's pregnancy quickly reached the Shen and Zhao families. That night, both families rushed to the married couple's apartment. The elders passed on their knowledge to Shen Jingbin whilst discussing her children's names. Later on, Shen Jingbin was completely excluded from the conversation as they hotly debated the topic amongst themselves.

'Black lines' ran down Shen Jingbin's head. Hey, isn't it a little too early to be talking about a name? And is it really a good idea to be ignoring a pregnant woman!?

Helpless, Shen Jingbin returned to her room with Shen Jingbin following behind her like a curious child. He inspected her from every angle, to the point where just watching him made her feel dizzy.

"Can you just stand still and stop walking all over the place?" Shen Jingbin asked as she glared at him.

Shen Jingchen rested a hand on his chin and stared at her with a strange look on his face. "How curious. Sis, are you really pregnant?"

He then gave Shen Jingbin's belly a solid pat and said, "There's a baby in here?!"

"What the f*ck is wrong with you, Shen Jingchen?!" yelled Shen Jingbin as she kicked at him.

Zhao Chengning just so happened to walk into the room holding a cup of milk at that time. He hurriedly rushed over when he saw her kicking Shen Jingchen.

"Hey, you're pregnant. You shouldn't be making such exaggerated movements; take it easy," said Zhao Chengning as he set down the cup of milk and reached out a hand to support her.

Shen Jingbin glared at him. "I'm pregnant, not handicapped."

"She doesn't look pregnant to me. Hey Ah Ning, are you sure the doctor didn't misdiagnose her?" Shen Jingchen asked sarcastically.

"Can the single dog who doesn't even have a girlfriend please shut up?" said Shen Jingbin.

"What, a single dog doesn't have any rights?!"

"Don't be angry, wifey. Here, have some milk. Get some rest afterward," said Zhao Chengning placatingly. "Jingchen, my wife will be going on maternity leave. Hm...she'll be taking it from tomorrow onwards."

"What the f*ck. Bro, that's not how things work. A person usually goes on maternity from the fourth to eighth month, alright!? What's the point of her going on maternity leave now?!" said Shen Jingchen in surprise.

Zhao Chengning raised his head and said, "Can other wives match up to mine?"

Shen Jingbin nodded and looked at her husband with satisfaction. Shen Jingchen gave an involuntary shudder before distancing himself from them with a hand over his face. He'd rather put up with the elders prattling away in the living room than be with them!

It was too much for him to take!

When the elders were about to leave, for the first time ever, Mama Zhao actually spoke to Shen Jingbin pleasantly. She even brought up the idea of the couple moving into the Zhao family's residence where there'd be other people to help look after her.

Shen Jingbin glanced at her parents. She accepted Mama Zhao's offer with a smile after receiving a gentle nod of acknowledgment from them.

Mama Zhao took off a jade bracelet that she wore on her hand and attached it to Shen Jingbin before giving her a hug. When they separated, Shen Jingbin heard her whisper an apology into her ear.

Shen Jingbin's eyes turned red once again.
