Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 1698: Trapped Here
Chapter 1698: Chapter 1698: Trapped Here
Breathing heavily, Gu Fan and Li Shi finally ran out of the dark tunnel. Unable to resist, they looked back and found that nothing was following them.
In a desperate situation, they had no choice but to run back to the abandoned town, only to bump right into patrolmen Old Five and Old Six.
"Another two!" Old Five and Old Six immediately assumed a fierce stance, pointing guns at Gu Fan and Li Shi.
Gu Fan raised his hands at once and anxiously said, "There’s something here, just now in the tunnel, it killed one of your people."
"What?" Old Five and Old Six were shocked and looked into the distance. However, due to the far distance and trees blocking their view, they couldn’t see the tunnel.
Old Five snorted coldly, thinking Gu Fan and Li Shi were deceiving them, and walked up to deliver a resounding slap across Gu Fan’s face.
It was Gu Fan’s second slap, but he didn’t feel humiliated or angry at all. Fear dominated his heart. He only wanted to survive, so he desperately begged them to find a way to escape this abandoned town.
"Shut up." Old Five kicked Gu Fan and pointed his gun at him, forcing Gu Fan and Li Shi to move toward the holding area.
An already dilapidated school—the driver, Uncle Blacky, the woman in red, and Gu Fan’s high school classmates were all detained there. Their faces were fearful, their eyes jittery as they watched the few armed fugitives around them.
The boss spun his pistol while smoking, contemplating how to deal with so many people. He couldn’t release them, as they’d risk exposing the gang and their location.
After months on the run, the fugitives had finally found a place to temporarily rest and weren’t ready to move yet.
At this moment, Old Five and Old Six dragged Gu Fan and Li Shi inside, yelling, "Move faster!"
"Two more!" The boss raised his eyebrows in mild surprise. If there were stragglers, then maybe there weren’t only two.
Old Three’s gaze lingered on Li Shi, who was quite attractive, and he couldn’t suppress a creepy smile: "Oh, look at this, a little beauty."
"Speak up! Are there others out there?" Old Two pressed his gun to Gu Fan’s head, his expression filled with murderous intent.
Gu Fan hurriedly replied, "You have to believe me, there’s really something out there, something real—it seems like a beast."
"What beast? You think you can scare us?" Old Five grew impatient, displaying an annoyed expression.
Gu Fan persisted, "It’s true! I’m not lying! We just encountered it in the tunnel, and one of your people got bitten to death."
"You’re saying Old Seven was bitten to death?" The fugitives were incredulous. They looked at each other, then turned their gazes to the boss.
The boss’s face darkened. He ordered Old Six to call Old Seven using the walkie-talkie.
Old Six obeyed, but after trying three times, there was no response. It seemed Old Seven really was in trouble.
"Damn it!" Old Two roared angrily, slamming Gu Fan’s head against the wall and shouting, "Speak! What did you do to Old Seven?" freewebnσvel.cѳm
"It wasn’t us, it really wasn’t us!" Gu Fan desperately explained, but the others wouldn’t listen.
Li Shi pleaded tearfully, "You have to believe us! We’re telling the truth! If you don’t believe us, you can go check the tunnel!"
Hearing this, the boss furrowed his brows, then focused on Li Shi and Gu Fan. Seeing their panicked, student-like demeanor, he doubted they could fake such terror—it seemed genuine.
"Fine, we’ll go check!" The boss wasn’t reassured and had to see with his own eyes.
The six fugitives herded nearly thirty people toward the tunnel. For safety, the six armed fugitives stayed behind with guns pointed at Gu Fan and the others.
The driver, Uncle Blacky, Gu Fan, and a few other men walked at the very front. As the pitch-black tunnel loomed closer, they grew more and more afraid, slowing their pace.
The boss handed Gu Fan and the others a flashlight, instructing them to handle illumination, and warned Gu Fan not to try anything funny—or he’d regret it.
Truthfully, Gu Fan didn’t want to return to the tunnel at all. What had happened earlier was too horrifying; he’d rather fight the fugitives than face whatever lurked in the darkness.
"Hurry up, move faster!" The fugitives urged from behind, but Gu Fan and the others continued inching forward at a snail’s pace, the flashlight beam darting nervously back and forth.
Gradually, the air became suffused with the scent of blood. In that chilling instant, everyone’s hearts sank; their fear drove them to huddle closer together as they walked.
Eventually, they reached a point where they could see an overturned vehicle up ahead—a car belonging to the fugitives, and it looked heavily damaged.
"What the..." The boss was visibly shaken. There was no way Gu Fan and Li Shi alone could have flipped the vehicle.
Beyond the car, massive rocks blocked the path, sealing off the tunnel entirely.
Old Six gasped, "How’s this possible? When Old Seven and I came back earlier, the tunnel was fine. How did it collapse so suddenly?"
"Look, there’s blood!" someone shouted, and everyone instinctively turned to look.
The boss immediately led the charge to investigate, discovering numerous bloodstains on the ground along with Old Seven’s gun—the bullets were all spent.
The overturned vehicle bore deep claw marks where it had been damaged. These marks were the most terrifying part, sending chills down everyone’s spines. Whatever was here—it wasn’t just a wild animal.
The previously attacked woman cried out in desperation, "I told you it was true! I told you it was true! You have to believe me now!"
Everyone was filled with dread and instinctively clung closer together.
The boss’s face fell, and he let out a cold snort: "Listen to me! There’s nothing here! Stop scaring yourselves and get back!"
The evidence was staring them in the face, yet the boss still claimed there was nothing. Gu Fan grew frantic and tried to persuade him further, only to be silenced with the butt of a gun.
"I said get back! Don’t you understand me?" The boss’s voice carried more frustration than menace now, and even he no longer appeared as fierce as before. Fear flickered in his eyes the same way it did in everyone else’s.
Terrified, Gu Fan nodded repeatedly. In his mind, staying with the group and following orders felt like the only hope for making it through alive.
Everyone began leaving the tunnel, but they couldn’t help glancing back every few steps. The bloodstains on the ground, the deeply clawed vehicle, and the horrors that had just unfolded left them trembling, drenched in cold sweat.
Gu Fan noticed something odd—those fugitives seemed less concerned with watching him and the others now. Their guard had noticeably slackened as their attention was drawn elsewhere.
