Three Little Troublemakers Turned the World Upside Down After My Divorce-Chapter 8
Her Mother’s Cause of Death
In the bedroom.
Shen Ning clutched a photo of her late mother, her fingers tightly grasping the bedsheet. Her knuckles turned white as her eyes burned with a fiery, blood-red light.
Earlier that day, her grandmother had handed her a black file bag before departing.
And just now, she had opened that file bag.
Inside, she discovered a document, her mother’s life’s work—the exclusive formula for the Guqi perfume—along with a photo of her mother in her prime.
As she read through the document, anger coursed through her, causing her body to tremble with agony.
She learned that her grandmother had been secretly investigating the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death all these years.
Now, all signs pointed toward Shen Mei and her mother as the culprits.
Her grandmother was aging, with limited time left. She had no choice but to entrust everything to Shen Ning.
Restlessly, she rose to her feet and grabbed a wine glass, filling it to the brim. She raised her head and emptied the wine into her mouth, forcefully placing the wine glass back on the table.
Over the years, whenever she felt pain and anguish, she would seek solace in a glass of wine to numb her torment.
But tonight, it was clear that one glass would not suffice!
Shen Mei, no matter how you hurt me, I could endure it.
But I will never let you be the cause of my mother’s death!
She downed another glass of wine, her hand gripping the bed railing tightly, her cold, blood-red eyes consumed by shadows.
When she was ten years old, her father, Shen Deshun, had stubbornly brought Shen Mei and her daughter home, against Shao Meiqi’s objections.
Five years later, upon returning home from school, she witnessed her mother leap from the building, blood splattering her body.
Since that day, her mother had been bedridden until she succumbed to end-stage renal disease.
The Guqi perfume shop, her mother’s legacy, had been usurped by Shen Mei and her daughter. Shen Mei’s poor management had brought the shop to the brink of collapse, relying solely on the financial support of Li Zhenting…
Initially, she had contemplated relinquishing everything for the sake of her children, but now it seemed impossible!
She closed her blood-red eyes and whispered:
Li Zhenting, it’s in your best interest if my mother’s death has no connection to you. Otherwise, I will never spare you!
After a moment, she took a deep breath, opened her phone, and signed an electronic invitation before sending it to an email address.
…
The following day.
Li Corporation.
A man impeccably dressed in a tailored suit sat with composed poise, engaged in a multinational corporation video conference.
Suddenly, the screen displaying the first-quarter sales data turned pitch black, replaced by a towering Ultraman performing acrobatic feats, dominating the screen.
Ultraman expelled bubbles, each bearing the words “scumbag” and “scumbag”!
Li Zhenting’s eyes blazed with icy fury as his once composed face darkened ominously.
“What is happening?” he demanded sharply.
“Mr. Li, something’s wrong. Our computer system has been attacked by hackers.”
Hackers?
Li Zhenteng seethed with anger. The fact that the computer system of a multinational corporation could be so easily infiltrated by hackers was unacceptable!
“Find out immediately, conduct a thorough investigation, or else everyone will be fired,” he barked in anger.
Suddenly, his phone rang urgently.
He answered the call.
“Young Master, something terrible has happened. You must come back immediately. Young Master has run away from home,” the butler trembled as he spoke, his voice filled with anxiety.
Li Zhenting’s face paled. He swiftly ended the call and rushed back home…
Li’s Manor.
Inside the dressing room, Shen Mei donned an elegant and fashionable dress while meticulously painting her nails. She hummed a tune as she meticulously shaped her eyebrows.
“Miss Shen,” Butler Luo hurriedly entered the room.
Shen Mei shot him a cold glance.
“Madam,” Butler Luo quickly corrected himself, his voice fraught with worry. “Something’s amiss. Young Master has disappeared. He has run away from home.”
Shen Mei adjusted the mirror before her, lowered her head, and resumed her meticulous brow shaping, nonchalantly remarking, “What’s the big deal? It’s just another ordinary day. Everyone’s overreacting.”
