Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 158: Comparing Me to a Dog
The man before her seemed so unfamiliar, or perhaps it should be said that he had always been so cold and heartless. It was just that she once had the fortune to be close to him, to be under his protection, without facing his cold side.
"Use me to divorce Vera Yves."
Winston Valentine’s face grew dark, "How did you know I was thinking of divorcing her?"
Cecilia Vaughn felt a chill run through her, "You know?"
Winston asked her without much expression, "Isn’t being the sixth Miss of The Valentine Family good?"
"The sixth Miss of The Valentine Family?" Cecilia laughed sarcastically, "Winston Valentine, you know I love you. Who would want to be the sixth Miss of The Valentine Family?"
"Love me?" Winston’s expression remained cold, "If it weren’t for grandmother wanting a paternity test for the child in your belly, were you really planning to marry me with someone else’s child? Is that the love you speak of?"
So he knew everything!
"What about you?" Cecilia looked at him painfully, "You used to treat me so well, you fought others for me, comforted me when I cried, you took my heart, so why could you turn around and marry someone else?"
"Why do you think you are standing here completely unharmed after everything that happened?"
"Do you love Vera Yves so much?" Cecilia asked unwillingly, "What makes her so worth your affection?"
Winston didn’t answer her question, he simply headed upstairs.
Cecilia clenched her fist, gritting her teeth, "Do you not care about Vera Yves’ affair with Miles Monroe? Winston Valentine, you’re not the type to stand others touching your things, are you? Vera Yves is no longer the Vera Yves of before, her heart and body both carry traces of Miles Monroe..."
Winston paused his steps for a moment, glanced back at her, eyes filled with blatant disgust and disdain.
"Cecilia Vaughn, are you reminding me that I’ve been too merciful to you?"
Stung by his gaze, Cecilia staggered two steps back.
As she left the villa, Cecilia saw a man not far off and angrily headed towards him.
"Smack!" A slap landed on Aaron Chandler’s face.
"Why did you ruin me like this?"
Aaron touched his cheek and saw her raise her hand again, he grabbed her wrist, "Do you think I could get inside without Winston’s permission? Cecilia Vaughn, get real! The one who wants to ruin you is him, not me!"
"Get lost! I never want to see you again!" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Aaron didn’t let go, "Now I guess no man wants to marry you except me!"
"Marry me?" Cecilia looked at him disdainfully, "Aaron Chandler, are you worth it? Look in a mirror and see what kind of person you are!"
"What kind of person are you?" Aaron tightened his grip on her hand, "For a man who doesn’t love you, you’ve ruined your own reputation! Who still respects a woman like you? Do you think you’re still that high-and-mighty heiress?"
High-and-mighty heiress?
Cecilia’s eyes burned with hate, she had ceased to be one the moment The Vaughn Family went bankrupt! By then, she had profoundly understood the fickle ways of the world.
Only he always treated her the same, continued to hold her dear, she once thought that was love. But why had everything changed? How could he love someone else?
Cecilia suddenly recalled something, she wiped her tears away, Vera Yves and Mrs. Yves did not share a blood relationship, so she wasn’t the Yves Family’s heiress, nor was she Tristan Valentine’s illegitimate child, then who exactly was she?
...
Vera Yves received the interview draft from Yates Abbott, she called him to discuss a few details and finalized the draft.
Yates smiled as he asked her, "Previously you didn’t want to take part in the amateur variety shows I recommended, now I’ve found some traditional medicine programs for you, they’re educational and feature many renowned doctors. Do you want to try them?"
Vera hesitated for a moment, "Could you send me the program’s detailed information?"
Yates heard her relent and said with a laugh, "I’ll send it to you on WeChat in a moment."
For the next half day, Vera went through information on several programs, among them one was slightly more reputable, and it invited well-known doctors from the industry.
The fake medicinal material incident at Wellspring Pharmacy affected the traditional medicine circle, because many renowned doctors used to endorse Wellspring Pharmacy, causing the whole group to be attacked by numerous radical netizens.
Vera considered repeatedly, eventually deciding to participate in the program.
Not for anything else, but to learn from these doctors, she only partially understood some of the knowledge her grandfather left behind.
Moreover, one doctor in particular specialized in treating brain diseases, maybe he could be recommended to Winston Valentine.
"Knock, knock, knock."
The sound of knocking interrupted Vera’s thoughts, as she went to open the door, a woman wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a mask stood tightly wrapped outside.
Seeing Vera open the door, the woman quickly walked in, signaling her to close it.
Vera hesitantly asked, "Stella Valentine?"
Stella removed her sunglasses, her expression somewhat unnatural, "I have a friend who wants to see you for treatment."
Vera ignored her, walking straight into the consulting room, Stella followed.
Vera sat in the chair, leisurely watching her, "You always used to say my grandfather was a quack, called him a swindler, said our Yves Family was crooked, only using sordid means, so why recommend your friend to me?"
Stella glared at her, dissatisfied, "Vera Yves, coming to you shows respect, don’t speak so passive-aggressively!"
Vera leaned back in her chair, unhurriedly stating, "Didn’t your mother teach you that those seeking favor should show the proper attitude?"
Stella gritted her teeth, "Isn’t your clinic here to help and treat patients?"
Vera chuckled, "Isn’t our Yves Family infamous for making money through deceit?"
Stella was silent for a long while, unable to reply, "What exactly must I do for you to treat my friend?"
"Beg, can you do that?"
Stella looked at Vera, trying to maintain steady breathing, and finally squeezed out a few words from her mouth, "Dr. Yves, I’m asking you to treat my friend, okay?"
Vera looked at her with indifference, "I’ve ceased practicing medicine long ago."
Stella’s expression changed immediately, "You’re messing with me? Even though you divorced my brother, you’re still treating him! Do you only treat men, not women?"
Vera looked at her, enunciating clearly, "Even if I treated stray dogs on the street, I wouldn’t treat your friend."
Stella stared at her in disbelief, "You’re comparing me to a dog?"
"Aren’t you speaking about your friend?"
Furious, Stella glanced at her, "Why so smug, as if you truly have any skill, just a blind cat that caught a dead mouse!"
Stella stormed off angrily.
Vera sterilized the clinic afterward, Stella wasn’t the first to seek her out recently, and wouldn’t be the last.
Vera intended to close the clinic door and saw a familiar car parked by the roadside.
"Vera, may I come in for a cup of tea?"
