Chapter 67: Chapter 66 What Malice Can a Kitten Have_1
"Hehe, here’s today’s serving of vegetable juice."
Ayatsuki Ayaka extended her pink thermos with both hands, smiled, and revealed two cute dimples on her cheeks.
"Iroha, were you waiting for me here on purpose?"
"I didn’t wait too long; I timed it just right. Saeko and the others don’t like drinking vegetable juice, so it’s just for you, to avoid waste."
Ayatsuki Ayaka replied with a smile in her eyes.
She didn’t wait outside the Kendo Club’s door; she waited here on purpose to avoid repetition. And incidentally, to make a stronger impression in Aozawa’s heart.
Nobody could refuse a hot girl standing in the sunshine offering vegetable juice!
Ayatsuki Ayaka was putting into practice the experience she’d drawn from days before; even she was astonished by her own Zhuge Kongming-like strategy.
At this rate, winning Aozawa over was just a matter of time.
"Thanks."
Aozawa took the thermos from Ayatsuki Ayaka’s hand, unscrewed the cap, and started gulping it down.
Free vegetable juice sure tastes good.
The morning classes went by in a flash. After lunch, Aozawa did not stick around with Phoenix Academy Maggie to shoot the breeze. He made an excuse about wanting a nap and went to a secluded corner of the school, where he carefully hid his phone.
Aozawa pictured a Persian cat in his mind, activated his Transformation Ability, and quickly became a white Persian cat.
From a cat’s perspective, the trees in front of him seemed to grow larger; their lush foliage appeared to dominate the entire sky. Even the grass blades were no longer short, instead becoming barriers that obstructed his view.
Aozawa curiously examined the world through a cat’s eyes.
After a moment, he collected himself and began to explore the campus with elegant, feline steps.
He avoided places crowded with students, instead wandering through quiet areas until he spotted the courtyard tree.
Aozawa pushed off with all four paws, leveraging the Persian cat’s jumping power. He landed on the tree trunk, his paw pads pressing against the bark as his sharp claws sprang out, gripping the wood. With a few more agile movements, Aozawa swiftly climbed the tall osmanthus tree.
He crouched on a branch of the osmanthus tree, looking down at the scenery below, a unique sense of satisfaction filling his heart. However, when he looked directly down from the branch, he suddenly felt dizzy.
Aozawa didn’t have acrophobia, but looking down from such a height still made him a bit apprehensive. This was a natural human reaction, yet it didn’t affect his actions.
He changed direction, ran a few steps along the branch, and then took an easy leap forward, landing lightly on the ground. The movement was fluid and seamless.
A cat’s body is so flexible! Aozawa couldn’t help but marvel internally. If only human bodies could be as agile as a cat’s, how wonderful that would be.
Aozawa stretched languidly on the spot and continued his campus adventure.
Brilliant High School occupied a substantial area in Adachi District and was well-equipped. Baseball fields, running tracks, club buildings, academic buildings—all the structures that celebrated youth were present.
Aozawa weaved through the shrubbery, and suddenly his view opened up. He emerged from the bushes.
In front of him was a grassy area—quite large from a cat’s perspective—lined with a row of cherry blossom trees. Under one of these trees sat a person.
Her jet-black hair was tied into two braids that rested on her shoulders, and she wore square-framed glasses. Perhaps because the midday sun was a bit hot, the girl hadn’t zipped up her light blue jacket. Instead, it was left open, revealing the impressive sight of her white shirt. Even her plain attire and hairstyle couldn’t diminish the appeal of her fair skin and ample bust.
Aozawa recognized her at a glance: Arakawa Reina, the class representative of 2C, and also a qualified maid.
"MEOW~" Aozawa greeted Arakawa Reina. The sound he made was, naturally, not a human voice but the soft meow of a cat.
Arakawa Reina’s heart was instantly captivated by the Persian cat’s appearance. Her face broke into a smile as she said, "Oh, how cute! Whose cat are you, little one? Are you lost?"
The girl spoke to the cat. It was an almost universal understanding: no one stopped to wonder if the cat could understand them; people just wanted to talk to cats.
"MEOW MEOW MEOW."
"So cute!"
Arakawa Reina beamed with a doting smile, immediately broke off a piece of her lunch bread, and extended it. "This is cream bread from the convenience store," she said expectantly. "It’s really delicious!"
This is what you use to test a cat, your master?!
Aozawa glanced at it and decided to make her understand the difference in status between cats and humans. He stepped forward and, with one paw, swatted the piece of bread from the girl’s palm.
This decisive strike dealt a critical blow to Arakawa Reina’s spirit. She stared at the flying piece of bread, her expression frozen.
So, even a cat wouldn’t eat the bread she thought was delicious.
I’m so worthless... A poor child like me probably shouldn’t even exist in this world.
Arakawa Reina felt an overwhelming urge to die right then and there.
"I’m sorry. It’s all because I’m so worthless. Such garbage bread... it’s not worthy of you at all."
Aozawa heard her disheartened words and, with another leap, landed on her chest.
"Class Rep, don’t be sad, I was just playing with you."
As he "spoke," Aozawa rubbed his cheek against Arakawa Reina’s slender neck, nuzzling her affectionately like an ordinary cat. The words he uttered reached Arakawa Reina’s ears as cute MEOW MEOW MEOW sounds.
In an instant, the sadness in the spectacled girl’s heart was healed.
This cat might have scorned her beloved cream bread, but it was willing to approach and comfort her.
Deep down, it’s definitely a very gentle and kind cat.
"Aww, little kitty, I love you so much!"
Arakawa Reina wrapped her arms around Aozawa’s body and began to "absorb kitty energy." "When I make money in the future," she declared, "I’ll definitely buy you the world’s most delicious cat food!"
Whoa...
Aozawa experienced the sensation of a cat being petted and felt as though he had unlocked the door to a whole new world.
Enjoyable as it was, Aozawa knew he still had to leave. His resolve was as firm as that of any player after getting what he wanted. The moment Arakawa Reina’s hands loosened their grip, he quickly pushed off with his paws, using the springiness of her lap to launch himself. He landed behind her, pointedly ignoring her calls of "Little kitty!" He ran off without a backward glance.
How could a man of his strong will possibly linger in the gentle haven of those delicate hands petting him?
After wandering around outside the academic building, Aozawa arrived at the club building. With a bold leap, he landed on an open first-floor windowsill, planning to sneak into the building from there.
He hadn’t chosen the main entrance; that would be far too ordinary.
"Oh? Where did this little kitty come from?"
Through the window was an activity room, somewhat small and rectangular in shape. It was floored with tatami mats. A guzheng rested on a long, low table.
The girl who spoke had her jet-black hair coiled atop her head in a style reminiscent of a noblewoman, yet it didn’t seem out of place on her. This was because her face was filled with a disarmingly sweet smile.
Since she was inside the activity room, the girl had taken off her jacket, wearing only a white blouse with a water-blue pleated skirt. Her neck was fair and smooth, like jade. Her clear eyes reminded Aozawa of a mountain stream.
"Well, hello there, cute little guest. Would you like a cup of tea?"
The girl approached, bending over to extend the invitation.
This was the first time Aozawa, without using his X-ray Ability, had caught a glimpse of the blue and white fabric of her bra through the opening of her blouse.
Given such a sincere invitation... he thought, and decided to stay. "MEOW."
