Too Late to Love Her: When She Divorced, He Fell Apart-Chapter 114: Haven’t You and Your Wife Already Divorced?
Thinking of this, Tristan Lockwood’s gaze once again fell on Claire Hale’s cold face.
Her eyes remained indifferent, without any reaction.
She only pressed her lips tightly, seeming to contemplate something.
"I..."
"Get out."
Tristan Lockwood threw these cold words at her, Claire Hale froze for a moment, then immediately opened the car door and got out without pausing for a moment.
Only after seeing her silhouette disappear did he irritably pinch the bridge of his nose.
A moment later, Tristan Lockwood dialed his assistant’s number and said, "Check who’s been involved in meddling with Claire Hale’s firm lately."
The assistant was first stunned, then instinctively asked, "President Lockwood, haven’t you already divorced your wife?"
Tristan Lockwood’s voice sank: "Yet you still call her your wife?"
The assistant didn’t dare to make a sound and promptly responded.
However, just as Tristan Lockwood was about to hang up the phone, the assistant carefully asked another question: "President Lockwood, once this is found out, are we to remain indifferent or help Miss Hale?"
"Do I still need to teach you that?"
The little assistant didn’t dare to ask further, but based on Tristan Lockwood’s tone, already knew the answer and quickly said, "I will promptly help Miss Hale with the investigation."
...
When Claire Hale returned to her car, she felt a weight heavier than when she came.
Given Tristan Lockwood’s reaction, there’s a high probability that he wasn’t the one behind this.
Moreover, he has always been straightforward; if he had really done it, he would have threatened her long ago, and wouldn’t have such a big reaction, accusing her of misunderstanding him.
Inexplicably, Claire Hale felt a bit uneasy.
The moment Tristan Lockwood pushed her out of the car, she actually felt that her visit was impulsive and somewhat self-humiliating.
Yet, just a second before getting out of the car, she saw, perhaps incorrectly, a fleeting loneliness in Tristan Lockwood’s eyes.
Claire Hale inexplicably grew more restless.
On the way back to her firm, her mind was filled with Tristan Lockwood’s final expression, and she thought, indeed, I shouldn’t see him anymore; seeing him once just stirs my heart.
Unexpectedly, Claire Hale saw Dean Dawson downstairs at the firm.
Dean Dawson appeared much thinner than before, likely having suffered much since the last incident.
But no matter what, he has truly hurt her; Claire Hale directly regarded him as air, walked straight past him toward the office building without a glance.
Dean Dawson quickly caught up with her, blocked her path, and said in a low voice, "Claire, I’m here to apologize. Last time on the mountain, I was wrong, I’m sorry."
"If you truly want to apologize, just make sure you never appear in front of me again."
Claire Hale said coldly.
Dean Dawson said: "Last time on the mountain, I really didn’t mean to do that. That morning, the woman named Jade Sutton told me you could accept such a relationship, and that’s why I had such thoughts. Claire, I’m truly sorry. If I could do it over, I definitely wouldn’t have done such a thing."
Claire Hale’s brow twitched, and she mercilessly said: "No matter how many times you redo it, it won’t change the fact that you’re a scumbag. Dean Dawson, you’ve already married, how can you shamelessly say such things?"
Saying this, she inevitably thought of Dean Dawson’s wife Cindy Skinner making a scene at Byron Lockwood’s birthday banquet.
She couldn’t help but continue: "You took those kinds of photos of me and allowed your wife to publicly slander and insult me; how can you possibly have the audacity to stand in front of me?"
Her eyes were cold as ice.
Upon closer inspection, there was even a hint of hatred.
She chose not to retaliate against Dean Dawson because she didn’t want to waste her time on such scum. It didn’t mean that those events had simply passed or that she would forget.
But obviously, Dean Dawson didn’t think he was wrong. He even said, "But because of this, didn’t you and Tristan Lockwood successfully divorce? Claire, in a way, I helped you."
Claire Hale raised her hand and slapped Dean Dawson.
She slapped him hard, almost with all her strength, leaving herself slightly panting.
Dean Dawson’s gold-rimmed glasses were knocked to the ground by her slap.
The lenses shattered.
An ambiguous emotion emerged in Dean Dawson’s eyes. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
As Tina Hayes came out of the office building, she saw Claire Hale and Dean Dawson standing confrontationally.
Her expression changed instantly, she rushed over, grabbed Claire Hale by the wrist, pulled her behind herself, fiercely glared at Dean Dawson, and cursed, "Get lost!"
Dean Dawson stared at Claire Hale, unmoving.
Tina Hayes didn’t waste words with him, directly pulled Claire Hale into the car, and without hesitation, stepped on the gas pedal, driving toward Dean Dawson.
Dean Dawson remained standing where he was.
"Tina, stop the car."
As the car approached Dean Dawson, Claire Hale said to Tina Hayes.
Through clenched teeth, Tina Hayes unwillingly said, "President Hale, if this kind of person wants to die, let him die then."
Claire Hale actually didn’t want Dean Dawson to have it easy either, not just Dean Dawson, but Cindy Skinner who humiliated her at Byron Lockwood’s birthday, she didn’t want to let her off either.
However, she rationally said, "We can’t ruin ourselves because of people like him."
Even for revenge, she couldn’t get herself involved.
In the car window’s reflection, Claire Hale saw Dean Dawson just standing there, staring intently in their direction.
She furrowed her brow and said to Tina Hayes, "Let’s go."
Tina Hayes reluctantly turned the car around.
In the rear view mirror, Dean Dawson’s figure grew smaller and smaller, and the malevolence in his eyes deepened beyond their view.
A few days later, when Claire Hale returned to the firm from outside, Joy Sharp approached her, saying, "President Hale, those few disrupted connections from last month have been reestablished."
Claire Hale was taken aback and surprised.
"Did they say what caused this before?"
Joy Sharp found it strange too: "No, but when we reached out again, they weren’t as resistant as before, and even cooperated by sharing information."
Suddenly, a thought popped into Claire Hale’s mind, that perhaps Tristan Lockwood had helped her resolve this.
Yet this thought only lingered for a second before she dismissed it herself.
Even though Tristan Lockwood is a doctor, he has been involved in the Lockwood Family’s business affairs. As a businessman, he prioritizes benefits above all else; there’s really no reason for him to help her.
Regarding the sentiment, they are divorced, and she even misunderstood him as causing trouble, making it even less likely for him to intervene.
This situation, while Claire Hale is concerned about it, what’s more troubling now is Dean Dawson.
Since that night, Dean Dawson has been haunting her like a ghost, waiting downstairs at her firm after work hours, following her home with his car, and leaving without speaking.
The next morning, when Claire Hale leaves her home, she again sees Dean Dawson’s car.
This behavior is akin to that of a psychotic stalker.
