Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Will He Take Revenge on You?

Tristan Lockwood didn’t speak, he just picked up the wine glass on the table and walked away without a word.

Jenson Jennings sighed inwardly.

Maybe he was truly mistaken, the bond between these two wasn’t as deep as he thought.

He said, "Claire, give up. Tristan no longer has feelings for you."

Jenson didn’t hear Claire Hale’s response.

On the other end of the phone, there was a long silence, followed by the call ending tone.

Jenson put down the phone, walked over to Tristan Lockwood, and said, "Now you’ve completely shaken her off. Are you satisfied?"

Tristan held the wine glass, his eyes slightly downcast, staring at the dark liquid swirling in it.

His gaze gradually grew deep, and after a long while, he said softly:

"The one being shaken off wasn’t her."

...

After the call with Jenson ended, Claire Hale felt an unprecedented sense of relief.

Her work ended early today, so she booked a table at a fancy restaurant and invited Tina Hayes and Joy Sharp to have dinner and drinks with her.

At the restaurant, Tina Hayes noticed the faint smile on Claire Hale’s lips from time to time and curiously asked, "President Hale, what got into you today? You seem to be in a good mood."

Claire Hale smiled, "I think Tristan Lockwood and I are finally done."

"Really?"

Tina Hayes was initially surprised and delighted, but then something didn’t seem right.

"Hey, didn’t you two get divorced long ago? Why end it now?"

Claire Hale briefly summarised the events of the past few months.

After listening, Tina Hayes was so shocked that she blurted out, "Why does this make Tristan Lockwood sound like a bit of a simp?"

Claire Hale paused and quickly said, "He’s not simping; he just doesn’t want me to have a good time."

"But from what you said, he seems to like you. Maybe he’s trying to keep you around in his own way?"

Claire Hale put down her chopsticks and gave Tina Hayes a sharp look.

Her gaze was full of scrutiny, which gave Tina Hayes a chill, "Sis, can you stop looking at me like that? It’s scary."

Claire Hale: "Weren’t you the one who used to cheer when I and Tristan broke up? Why are you speaking up for him today?"

"I’m not speaking for him," Tina Hayes said, "It’s just that it sounds like there’s more feeling between you two than before the divorce."

Claire Hale gave her a faint glance, "What, do you want me to get back together with him?"

Tina Hayes hurriedly shook her head, "Of course not. The way you’ve been trying to shake him off, you’re almost an Oscar-winning actress. How could I expect you to reconcile?"

Next to them, Joy Sharp, who had been listening to their back-and-forth while eating, chimed in, "President Hale, what if one day Tristan Lockwood finds out you acted like a simp for two months just to dump him? Would he retaliate against you?"

Tina Hayes thought that made sense, "Yeah, President Hale. There’s a chance Tristan Lockwood could do something like that. After all, for him, making our little firm’s life difficult is just a matter of moving a finger."

Claire Hale figured this out too, and she said calmly, "It’s not that easy for him to find out."

Since the two of them were completely cut off, even in the same city, let alone interacting, it’s almost impossible for them to even run into each other unless one of them does so on purpose.

She wouldn’t go looking for Tristan Lockwood.

And since Tristan Lockwood was tired of her, he’d naturally not come to see her again.

A man’s interest often comes quickly and disappears just as fast; over time, he wouldn’t even remember.

Moreover, she didn’t believe that Tristan Lockwood’s affection for her was deep enough to be unforgettable.

If someone truly likes another person from the heart, no matter what the other person is like, they won’t change their mind.

Unlike him, who once she wasn’t to his taste, quickly grew tired and discarded her easily.

"That’s about it for my stuff, nothing more to say." Claire Hale shifted the topic, looking at Joy Sharp with concern, "Joy, how are you and Jude Jacobs doing lately?"

Joy Sharp swallowed the meat in her mouth, smiling, "Pretty good."

Claire Hale: "Jude Jacobs..."

She didn’t finish her sentence because out of the corner of her eye, she saw a woman entering the restaurant, arm in arm with Jude Jacobs, intimately walking towards the private room.

Jude Jacobs was dressed in a neat black suit today, while the woman was wearing a chic short dress with shiny crystal heels, smiling sweetly, with a lovely demeanor.

From afar, they looked like a perfect match.

Claire Hale saw Jude Jacobs, and naturally, Tina Hayes, sitting next to her, saw it all clearly too.

Complex emotions flashed in their eyes.

Tina Hayes, unable to hold back, wanted to curse out loud but was stopped by Claire Hale holding her hand.

Joy Sharp’s seat was opposite them, back facing the door, so she didn’t see the scene.

However, she noticed the sudden unnatural expressions on Claire Hale and Tina Hayes and found it strange, so she turned to look toward the door.

"Joy."

Claire Hale called out to her just in time.

"Come with me to the restroom."

She stood up, blocking Joy’s view, and grabbed her hand, leading her to the restroom.

On the way, Claire Hale asked tentatively, "Joy, during your time dating Jude Jacobs, have you ever felt something off?"

"No."

Joy Sharp shook her head, looking back at Claire Hale, noticing there was a flicker of words unsaid in her eyes, which made Joy feel uneasy, and she asked, "President Hale, is there something you want to tell me?"

Claire Hale pressed her lips together.

Jude Jacobs and that woman earlier were clearly in a relationship, and it’s very likely Jude Jacobs was with that woman before Joy.

That would make Joy the ’other woman’.

Thinking of this made Claire Hale feel distressed.

This bastard Jude Jacobs was shameless enough to put the unsuspecting Joy Sharp in such a position. Knowing Joy’s character, she’d likely hide away and be secretly heartbroken if she ever found out.

Thinking of this, Claire Hale couldn’t keep the secret any longer. After quickly weighing her words, she said, "Joy, there’s something I need to tell you."

Joy Sharp: "What is it?"

"Jude..."

Claire Hale had just opened her mouth when she heard a loud noise not far behind her.

She instinctively looked back and saw the waiters heading towards the private room.

Looking at their seats, Tina Hayes was nowhere to be seen.

Claire Hale’s heart sank; Tina Hayes probably couldn’t hold back and went to cause a scene while she and Joy were in the restroom.
