Transferred to Another World and Became a Teacher-Chapter 120 - The Eve of the School Festival
Going to the academy’s back garden, I found the props for Strass’ school festival presentation lined up. While the other teachers had put their things away somewhere, Strass didn’t seem to care if anyone saw them, and had left his presentation props there, out in the open.
“What is this airplane-like thing?”
“Airplane? It's a model I made in the shape of a dragon. I thought the shape was pretty good, but…”
Strass was hurt by my unintentional remark. However, looking at it again, it didn't look like a dragon at all. The wings were more like those of a dragonfly, and the body resembled a sausage. It could almost be mistaken for a flying hot dog.
But, I couldn't say that.
“Was it a dragon? Certainly, it had wings and horns. Perhaps if you made the head and tail more distinct, it might become a more impressive dragon.”
“……Is that so?”
I tried to salvage the situation, but it seemed I had failed. Strass looked at his dragon with a dubious expression.
“So, that dragon…? How did you intend to use it?”
When I asked, Strass looked at me with an unusually sulky expression, then quickly returned his gaze to the ‘dragon’.
Then, he chanted an incantation. The winds converged, blowing upwards from below to lift the object. With precise magic control, the dragon model rose smoothly and stably. Then, a board lying on the ground, as if attached to the dragon by a string, rose up. It seemed to be a panel representing a mountain. The dragon cleverly circled around it.
That’s impressive. Seeing such delicate magic manipulation, which would impress any magician, my impression of Strass changed slightly. But the presentation wasn’t over. He raised the earth and knocked down the panel, causing a whirlwind of dust to erupt towards the flying dragon.
The dragon was blown away. Despite its awkward appearance, I somehow found myself empathizing with Strass’ dragon model.
Ignoring my fluster, the dragon floated onto the whirlwind, gracefully flew outside it and slowly descended to the ground.
“Wow…!”
An exclamation involuntarily escaped me.
Seeming satisfied with my reaction, Strass let out a breathy laugh.
“It seems it was quite a good presentation. Now, how can we improve this presentation?”
Strass immediately demanded improvements to his presentation with a confident attitude. His smug look was a little childish.
“Well… unfortunately, I can't think of many places to improve.”
“Is that so?”
“Well, I feel bad about not helping at all, so should we modify the props?”
“Eh?”
Ignoring Strass’ noncommittal response, I used magic. Using earth magic, I tried recreating a model of the dragon and the mountain panel. Next to Strass’ dragon, a white dragon, meticulously detailed, appeared. It was made of a light metal, and hollow inside. It was surprisingly light for its appearance.
And I made the mountain panel into a beautiful iceberg resembling Mount Everest. It should go well with the white dragon.
“Whether you use it or not is up to you, Strass-san.”
Saying this, I bowed slightly and presented Strass with the newly created white dragon and mountain model.
“……Ah, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Returning a bow to Strass’ thanks, I left the place.
Afterwards, I finished the adjustments for Speyside’s presentation, and finally took a break. When I noticed, I had worked diligently, late into the evening before the school festival. Walking through the academy courtyard as the sun began to set, I stretched lightly, looking at the long shadows.

I stretched my arms out and breathed out.
The city was already in a festive mood, but the academy was also very noisy. Perhaps because the teachers were bustling around, the students also seemed restless. But the atmosphere wasn’t bad. It was a restless excitement fitting for the eve of the festival.
Sitting on a bench in the courtyard, I looked around the academy illuminated by the setting sun. It seemed some teachers were still rehearsing their presentations, from the sound of magic being used echoed from a distance.
Well, tomorrow will be busy again.
Thinking this, I took a deep breath, stretched my arms wide, when a violent flash of light shot up into the sky from beyond the academy. A loud crackling sound echoed, like a thunderclap.
“Thunder magic… it seems someone has taken a step further.”
The foundation was indeed what I taught, but someone must have applied it with their own hands. That’s wonderful. Creating better magic, stronger magic, newer magic… if even a small number of magicians could do this, magic would probably make great progress in a year.
This school festival was the first step in making that known.
“……It’s going to be exciting.”
I murmured this and looked up at the stars that had begun to appear in the sky.
