Transmigrated as a Ghost-Chapter 1148 Gronex’s True Power
All of the power that Marcus had left burst forth from his body and channeled into his scythe.
He was pretty well tapped out from the fierce battle, but he still had enough left in the tank for one last big attack.
'I did not think that I'd be using one of these so soon and in a situation like this.' Marcus thought, pulling a certain item out of his item box.
In preparation for whatever he would be asked to do for Relia's master, Marcus had spent a good deal of time leading up to his retrieval making magic items and weapons in his forge.
One of which was a special projectile made of a mithril and adamantine alloy that had strips of iron attached to it on the outside.
Typically, when using the railgun attack he had developed, he would create the projectile with the iron sphere spell, but that came with some limitations.
Now that he had gotten vastly more powerful than he had been when he first thought up this combination of magic spells, the iron sphere he conjured simply could not hold up to the full force with which he could launch it.
The spell would quickly lose stability and fall apart after only traveling a couple dozen meters if Marcus went all-out.
This was why to utilize the full power of the attack, Marcus had needed to create a projectile that could withstand the extreme forces it would be under.
'I'm basically firing about thirty thousand gold coin worth of material right now, but this is the minimum I'm going to need for a dragon slaying bullet.' Marcus thought right before he finished charging the attack.
Needless to say, Gronex had sensed the massive buildup of power and was doing everything he could to try and get his body moving again.
Focusing his regeneration on his legs, he wanted to try and get away, but the damage he had taken from Lyra's and Quillon's attacks was significant.
Along with Roxene's Supreme Skill that was still in effect, he was not going anywhere.
"Eclipse Railgun."
Pulling the trigger, Marcus launched the special adamantine mithril alloy projectile forward at nearly Mach twenty-seven.
From about three kilometers away, it took the attack less than a third of a second to reach where Gronex currently was.
Following impact, there was an enormous explosion of light and darkness that erupted from the projectile.
Marcus had packed in all of the strength he had left into the projectile, so it certainly had no shortage of destructive force.
"Might have even given it a bit too much oomph." Marcus said as he watched his physical body start to break apart.
He had reached his absolute limits and was reverting to his spiritual form.
It did not take much spiritual energy for him to maintain a corporeal body, but it did take a little.
However, he had given all of his mana and spiritual energy into that last attack. He was unable to even keep floating in the air and was slowly descending to the ground below.
As he looked on at where Gronex had been, the aftermath of the blast he had created started to fade away.
No, it was not just dissipating, but something was breaking through and destroying it.
Soon the light and dark energy gave was to a bright crimson flame.
"GAARRRRRRR!"
An earsplitting roar rang out and the dust and remnant energy of Marcus' attack gave way to expose Gronex.
He was now wreathed in an armor of thick crimson fire, and the wounds that he had suffered had almost entirely healed already.
"Lyra already warned us about this, but that Supreme Skill of his really is powerful."
Marcus had been hoping that their opponent's pride would keep him from using his greatest ability before it was too late, but it seemed that Gronex valued his life more.
Just before Marcus' Eclipse Meteor had hit, the Giant Lava Dragon had activated his Supreme Skill, Heavenly Flame Armor.
It was an awe-inspiring power that not only gave Gronex an ultimate defensive ability, but also rapidly restored any wounds that the Lava Dragon had incurred.
Basically, he was unbeatable by anything less than an absolute force that fully overpowered him in one shot. It was likely that even Boreas had no chance of beating Gronex while his Supreme Skill was active.
"We just need to hold on for five minutes though. I hope we can do it" Marcus muttered as his form was engulfed in silver light.
He had just used the last charge of his Ultimate Refresh to bring himself back up to peak condition.
He still did not know how Lyra had learned this, but she was certain that the longest Gronex could keep his Supreme Skill going was five minutes.
Whether this was a hard time limit imposed by the skill or if that was simply how long Gronex could use it before his stamina was depleted, was unclear. But ultimately it hardly mattered
Just like Marcus, Lyra and Quillon had used just about all they had in their attacks.
That meant that they were not going to be much help in keeping Gronex busy. They had already been having a hard enough time keeping up with the dragon before, but now he was far stronger. And only Marcus and Roxene were left to hold him off.
"I just got to do what I can!" Marcus shouted.
A moment later, his body started to rapidly expand.
After his evolution, he had gained the ability to manipulate his form however he sought fit.
Doing so took quite a bit of focus depending on what he was trying to do, but just making himself bigger was not too difficult so long as his body's proportions stayed the same.
In only a couple of seconds, Marcus had transformed into a three-hundred-meter-tall giant.
This did not actually improve his stats in any way, but if he wanted to wrestle a colossal Lava Dragon, he needed to be at least this large.
It also helped to draw Gronex's attention towards him. The last thing he wanted was the ancient mythic beast to go after Lyra or Quillon.
"I thought that you might have had something interesting as another trump card, but you're merely grandstanding. Growing bigger without actually increasing your strength is a foolhardy move." Gronex said, clear disappointment in his voice.
He had been pushed to his limits by beings he saw as beneath him, but now that he was going all-out, the threat that they had presented no longer existed.
With movement faster than Marcus could react to, Gronex leapt closer and whipped his tail at him.
At the last second, Marcus tried to conjure a mana barrier and put his arms up to defend, but it had been a pointless endeavor.
As soon as Gronex's tail covered in crimson flames hit him, he knew that any defense that he deployed would be worthless.
The entire top half of his body was blown away by that one strike. Leaving his feet standing up without a body above the waist.
Still, this was not enough to kill Marcus, and his torso started to rapidly regenerate.
"I am tried of this. Just die!"
Along with the words coming out of his mouth, a bright light formed in Gronex's throat.
An instant later, he sprayed Marcus' entire form with a blast of molten rock that utterly obliterated him
