Transmigrated As An Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 42 - 41: The Orc Lord (2)
Chapter 42: Chapter 41: The Orc Lord (2)
The moment Henry dashed forward, I felt my soul leave my body.
"No!" I screamed, my voice breaking as he sprinted toward the Orc Lord with a speed born of pure, unfiltered rage.
But he didn’t stop.
The Orc Lord moved faster than I could blink.
With a sickening clap of its massive hands, Henry’s head was crushed.
Blood sprayed through the air, painting the ground in gruesome streaks.
His body collapsed like a broken doll, lifeless and still.
"Henry..." The name escaped my lips, barely a whisper.
The others fired their guns, desperation driving their actions.
Bullet after bullet flew toward the Orc Lord, but none reached their mark.
Every single one stopped mid-air, as if hitting an invisible wall.
I couldn’t move.
My legs were rooted to the spot as I stared at Henry’s crumpled form.
The pain in my chest was unbearable, like my heart was being torn apart.
I should’ve stopped him.
I should’ve known...
I should’ve known something like this would have happened.
I should’ve warned him.
No one is safe in this damned world.
"Damn it," I muttered under my breath, my fists clenching so tightly my nails dug into my palms.
Just why?
Why do people like him die?.
Why do people like him suffer in this damned world?.
While the others kept firing, futile as it was, I walked toward Henry’s body.
Slowly.
Mechanically.
The sounds of gunfire and the guttural growls of the Orc Lord faded into the background.
I knelt beside Henry, ignoring everything and everyone.
Which didn’t matter because they will all still die.
"I’m sorry," I whispered, my voice shaking. "This is my fault. I should’ve protected you."
My hands hovered over his body, trembling.
The Orc Lord roared behind me, its club smashing down on one of the other soldiers.
The sound of bones breaking filled the air, followed by screams that were abruptly cut off.
I didn’t turn around.
My eyes stayed on Henry, on the man who had shared his pain with me.
"Rest, the Orc Lord will still die," I whispered, my voice firm despite the pain in my chest. "I’ll kill him. I swear it..."
The Orc Lord is only permitted to die...
In my hands alone.
The ground shook as the Orc Lord’s heavy footsteps approached me.
Its shadow loomed over me, and I felt its gaze boring into my back.
I rose to my feet slowly, turning to face the towering beast.
It grinned down at me, its tusks gleaming in the moonlight.
Instead of cowering in fear.
I slowly grinned back.
It wasn’t a grin of joy or mirth.
It was one of pure defiance.
If this beast thought it could scare me, it was dead wrong.
"You might be powerful and terrifying. But by the time we are done here..." I said, my voice low but steady.
I raised Doom, the heavy gun feeling almost weightless in my hands.
"I will be be your fear made flesh!"
The Orc Lord lifted its massive club, the grin on its face widening as it brought the weapon crashing down.
"Ack!"
The ground split beneath me, rocks flying everywhere, but I stood there, my head bleeding, the force was so powerful that I heard some of my bones break.
But.
I laughed, the sound hollow and bitter.
"Is that it? That’s your strength?" I taunted, staring up at the beast.
The Orc Lord’s grin faltered.
It didn’t expect it.
Yes.
That is the expression I wanted to see.
I raised Doom again, aiming at its chest.
The Orc didn’t move, certain its protective force field would block the shot.
But it was dead wrong.
When I pulled the trigger, the bullet didn’t stop.
It broke through.
The impact sent the Orc staggering back, its armor dented and cracked where the bullet hit.
A low growl rumbled from its chest, and for the first time, its confidence wavered.
The Orc charged at me, its club swinging with deadly force.
I dodged and fired, each shot striking true.
The once-impenetrable armor began to crumble, pieces falling away to reveal the green, bleeding flesh beneath.
Pain wracked my body as its club grazed me, sending me flying into a tree.
My ribs screamed in protest, but I forced myself to stand.
The Orc was battered and bleeding, but it wasn’t done yet.
With a sudden roar, the orc charged, its club raised high.
I pressed the trigger, sending a bullet flying through the air.
The gunshot echoed through the forest like thunder, the bullet struck the orc lord in the shoulder.
It staggered, letting out a growl of pain, but the creature did not fall.
Instead, fury ignited in its eyes.
The orc turned toward me with a snarl, its teeth bared, and I could see the blood trickling from the wound I had inflicted.
I ducked behind the tree as it charged, its heavy footfalls shaking the ground.
I could hear the snap of branches and the rustle of leaves as it barreled through the underbrush, rage giving it an unyielding strength.
I darted to the side, trying to create distance between us, but the forest was dense, and the orc was relentless.
It swung its club in a wide arc, and I barely managed to dodge it, the weapon crashing into the tree behind me with a resounding crack.
I scrambled to regain my footing, shooting another glance at the beast.
It was already turning, eyes blazing with fury, and I knew I had to act fast.
I fired again, the bullet finding its mark in the orc’s thigh.
It stumbled but quickly regained its balance, letting out a furious roar that echoed through the trees.
I was running out of options.
The orc was more resilient than I had anticipated.
As I prepared to fire once more, I realized the orc was closing the distance too quickly.
The sound of the orc’s growls grew louder, its club raised high.
I aimed and fired, the shot ringing out as the bullet struck the orc in the chest.
For a moment, it staggered, and I thought I might have a chance.
But then, with a roar that echoed through the forest, the orc charged forward, unfazed.
It swung its club with deadly intent, and I barely managed to dive to the side.
The club missed me by inches, crashing into the ground with enough force to send shockwaves through the earth.
I scrambled to my feet, with every ounce of strength, I aimed again.
The orc was relentless, and I could see the fury in its eyes.
I fired one last desperate shot, but it went wide, missing the target entirely.
The orc closed the gap, its club swinging through the air, and in that moment, time seemed to slow.
I could see the determination in its eyes, the primal instinct to conquer its foe.
The club connected with my side, and pain exploded through me.
I felt the impact knock the wind out of my lungs, the world spinning as I gasped for breath.
I could hear the footsteps as he walked slowly to me, it shadow loomed over me.
My vision blurred with exhaustion, but I couldn’t stop.
I wouldn’t stop.
"Just die already!" I spat.
Finally, the Orc paused, its glowing eyes narrowing as it assessed me.
Blood dripped from its wounds, and its massive frame heaved with each breath.
"You bastard, you stand no chance against me"
It knew it was losing.
"What?!, Gonna cry!" I said mockingly.
With a guttural roar, it disappeared into the shadows, vanishing into the forest.
"Coward!" I shouted after it, my voice hoarse. "Get back here!"
But it was gone.
I stood there, panting, my body screaming in pain.
The others...
No there were no others.
I was the only one left.
The only last man standing.
Turning back to the carnage, I walked to the bodies of my fallen comrades.
Henry’s lifeless form lay where I had left it.
Summoning Ori, I pointed to the ground.
"Please help me dig" I said, my voice hollow.
Ori was larger.
But it wasn’t surprising because I learned earlier it could increase it hight.
But i really don’t know if it has a limit.
Ori hesitated, but eventually began to dig with his paws.
Ori worked silently, the sound of dirt being moved the only noise in the otherwise silent forest.
Once the graves were dug, I placed each body in gently, my hands trembling with the effort.
When the last body was buried, I knelt, pressing my hand to the freshly turned earth.
"I’m sorry," I whispered. "Rest in peace now..."
With that, I rose, my body heavy.
"Your suffering is over"
With that i turned and walked away, leaving the graves behind.
