Chapter 110: Chapter 110:Boss Battle [1]
Unable to see my figure clearly due to the cloud of sand, the crabawler sent the next three poison balls headed to my left and right, blocking my dodging routes.
With my right eye, I could now see a timer next to each of the cannonballs, counting down how long I had until they reached me.
They were all charging toward my current location from different directions in a downward sloping line...dodging them should be as easy as stepping forward.
Focusing on the first and closest cannonball headed toward my figure, I raised my blood-red blade so that its tip was facing the sky.
These balls were like time bombs; as soon as they got close enough to me, they would explode and spray lethal poison everywhere within a one-yard radius.
I didn’t have enough time or space on the beach, or get out of the ball’s splash zones.
Sprinting forward, I leaped two yards into the air, placing myself right in front of the first of the six poison cannonballs.
Then, without any hesitation, I brought my sword downward, and like a knife passing through butter, the blade sliced right through the cannonball, cutting it in two equal halves.
However, right before two equal halves of the sliced cannon ball could detonate, I sighed and cocked my head backward, looking up at the sky.
Although I had believed controlling my emotions would be close to impossible, getting myself to feel hopeless wasn’t that hard.
All I had to think of was that day.
That inevitable day when I would face off against the entirety of the human realm, including my arch-enemy.
Every time I climbed a small hill or persevered through a small obstacle, Mt. Everest was in the distance, waiting for me.
My existence itself was pointless.
But to fall, I first had to rise.
Perhaps, enjoying the rise before my inevitable descent was my life’s purpose.
Like Icarus flying through the sky, I was destined to rise to great heights with my power as the demon king, only to fall down and die.
All I could hope was that the rise was worth the fall.
The fact that my right eye was practically burning with pain helped as well.
As time halted, the poison cannon paused its self-destruction with its particles a mere inch away from touching my skin and burning me permanently.
The ball was halfway through its detonation, so frozen purple droplets of poison surrounded my sides.
Everything had stopped but me.
Feeling the time particles slowly drain from my body, I sighed and locked my eyes on the rigid boss in the distance.
Bursting forward through the path I had made in between the two equal halves of the poison ball with my blood red blade, I suddenly felt my arm wobble.
And, at that moment, despite time having supposedly halted, countless blood-red flowers suddenly appeared all around me.
Floating red spider lilies, glowing and flickering a crimson-red, floated around my body, emitting dark-red particles from their stems.
In contrast to the jolly light-blue sky and yellow sun, they cast an evil red light on the world.
"..."
Although I hadn’t planned on unlocking the first stage of proficiency with my sword, it was about time considering how much I had trained with it.
As I began descending, I raised my blood-red blade to the sky, and like moths flocking to a light bulb, the red particles emitted by the lilies swarmed toward my sword in massive groups.
Not able to collect all the particles, I reluctantly landed on the sandy ground, with there being no ripple in the ground despite my impact.
The blood-red blade of my sword was no longer visible as hundreds of crimson particles surrounded it, blocking it from my view.
However, every time I moved my sword, there was a slight delay as the particles needed a moment to readjust themselves around the blade.
When I swung my sword, a blood-red line would be carved through the air, as the particles desperately tried to catch up to my blade.
It looked as if I were wielding a red lightsaber, honestly.
Charging forward as the poison cannonballs remained frozen above me, I successfully escaped from their range.
Then, a second later, as I stepped forward, the sand suddenly shook under my shoes and sank.
Time had returned to normal.
Yet, the beast’s gaze was still concentrated on my previous location.
Taking advantage, I sprinted across the sand, holding out my sword in front of my face, parallel to my eyes.
As I jumped onto the crawbawler’s body, embedding my blade in its body and hanging by the hilt, the beast’s entire body shook.
However, no purple balls came.
Instead, like arrows, all six tentacles pierced down from the beast’s shoulder to my figure.
The first attack came when one of the tentacles headed down straight toward my head, intending to break my skull open.
Simultaneously, another tentacle went around my body so that it was behind me and pointed its opening at me.
*BANG*
Tens of small, normal-sized crabs flew at me with incredible accuracy, their claws stretched out and ready to stab through every part of my body.
If I yanked my sword out, I would fall to the ground and be stomped by the beast’s eight legs, so I was left defenseless against the two attacks.
That’s probably what Sage thought as she observed the fight.
Tilting my head to the right, I pulled myself upward and gazed at the incoming crabs.
At that moment, the purple tentacle aimed at the center of my head that I had ignored suddenly speedened.
However, just as the tip of its tentacle was about to plunge straight into my head, I suddenly flicked my head upright with incredible speed, injuring my neck.
*SLICE*
A second later, I felt it.
A gooey and soft sensation atop my head, leaking some disgusting fluid onto my air.
There was no pain in my expression, just pure digust.
It was a tentacle.
