Chapter 51: Chapter 51:Orientation [5]

He had been sitting there, staring at me for thirty minutes, yet the thought of telling me had simply never passed his mind!?

Hearing my words, the student’s onyx-black pupils immediately widened, and he tilted his head as if saying, "Are you talking to me?"

He had seemed like the quiet type since the first time I saw him. freēwēbnovel.com

He had skipped the back sections of the chairs and come up near the stage to avoid sitting in a crowded area.

Then, upon accidentally stepping into my row, he had simply found a seat instead of making a scene by awkwardly walking out and choosing another row.

Thus, when his mouth opened, I did not expect anything too crazy...However, I was surprised.

"Are you kidding me? Did you not even look in a mirror before arriving here!? This is an orientation; I thought you knew."

At a loss for words, I pointed to my bandaged right eye and said.

"Are you stupid? Of course, I didn’t know. Did you think I was making a fashion statement by coloring my eye black and red!?"

Raising his hands and forming an "X" in front of his chest, the student responded in an equally loud and aggressive tone to mine.

"Hey, hey, hey, don’t try to shift the blame to me. This is your damn fault for coming to the ceremony like this. I thought you were some psycho who snuck in here with that demonic-looking eye."

Caught off guard by the mention of demons and realizing I had lost the argument, I hesitated before opening my mouth and looking at the timer ahead.

"Yeah, yeah, shut up, will you? I’m trying to pay attention to the stage like a good student."

Even though I couldn’t see him, imagining the angry expression on his face was enough to satisfy me.

Surprisingly, the black-haired student still responded a few moments later.

"Are you blind in your left eye as well or something? NOTHING IS UP THERE!"

At that moment, I suddenly smelt a horrid scent coming this way, so I shifted my head to the left to face the black-haired student and the start of the row.

And, there standing right in front of the entrance to my row, was a group of girls, all dressed up in similar uniforms to Evangel.

Filling up seats as they passed farther into the row, one of the girls in the group eventually halted before the black-haired student and asked.

"Can you scoot down?"

Crossing my arms, I smiled as I expected him to refuse and tell the girl to piss off or something...however, the black-haired boy simply nodded his head!?

Without saying a word, he obediently scooted all the way, now sitting right beside me.

The layout of our row of chairs now was like this:

Entrance : girl / girl / girl / girl / girl / black-haired boy / me / ___ / ___ / ___ / ___ / ___ : End

Nudging my left shoulder against him, I turned my head to the left and whispered.

"What the hell; why did you let them do that? Are you some sort of dog that simply listens to orders?"

To be fair, I probably would have done the same thing as him, but the difference now was that he had actually done it while I hadn’t.

Turning his head to the right so he was facing me, the boy angrily whispered back.

"What did you want me to do!? Say no, and get on their bad side before orientation even starts?"

Smirking, I muttered before turning back to face the stage.

"No, just keep listening to them like a good dog."

Placing his mouth directly in front of my left ear, he immediately whispered.

"If you’re so tough, why don’t you tell them to move right now?"

Shaking my head, I simply said back, not even bothering to whisper.

"Keep justifying yourself, dog."

Suddenly, the boy burst out, replying in a loud and aggressive tone that caught the attention of the group of girls sitting next to him.

"IT’S RAVEN. CALL ME RAVEN!"

Struggling to hold my laughter, I turned backward to hide my face, surprised to see the rows behind practically filled to the brim.

The near-empty rows behind me now had students with red blazers in every seat, and practically everyone was talking.

Perhaps, talking with the black-haired student had subconsciously caused me to ignore the horrid smells behind me?

Now, the only empty seats were the first, second, and third rows.

For the next few minutes, I passed the time by annoying my neighbor, Raven, by referring to him as a dog or purposely annoying him to see a reaction.

Despite his quiet appearance and solitary name, he really was quite animated and emotional.

As the time read, "[00:00:05]," the seats beside me and in front of me filled up with random male and female students, who weren’t important enough to be mentioned in the novel.

Or perhaps they were, and I was just forgetting things.

I had seen some students try to sit in the first row; however, teachers quickly appeared and told them that the first row was reserved for a special group of students.

The famed top 10 students within the academy.

Currently, they were probably feasting within one of the many restaurants in the plaza, waiting for the orientation to start to make their appearance.

Glancing over my shoulder, I attempted to look through the crowd of students behind me; however, a voice quickly dissuaded me.

"Looking for someone?"

Shaking my head, I turned back and replied.

"Why don’t you worry about yourself?"

Almost immediately, as if expecting my answer, Raven practically jumped out of his seat as he responded.

"Oh, so when I saw your demonic-looking eye, I should have just minded my own business and not said anything, right? Right!?"

Scratching my head, I pretended to act confused for a moment before awkwardly saying.

"Oh wow...you still remember that!?"

"IT WAS TWENTY MINUTES AGO!"

Chuckling, I was about to retort when suddenly a sound echoed from behind the curtains.

Then, with the timer now reading, "[00:00:00]", the crimson-red curtains instantly pulled apart, revealing the whole stage.
