Chapter 54: Chapter 54:Ten Shining Stars [3]
In the small Imperial class of around twenty enlightened students, I’d be able to receive private attention from my professors and teachers, allowing me to progress faster, instead of struggling on my own.
I was starting from complete scratch with zero experience, so my first step would be learning and using the basic pillars of swinging a sword.
The foundations of your swordsmanship are the most vital factor in your combat skill and style.
The way you swing your sword, the angle at which you jab, your grip on your sword...all these foundational things construct your sword art.
With the help of the advanced professors and teachers in the Imperial class, I could master these foundations, creating a strong base for my future combat art.
Whereas, in the Worldly class, I’d be training myself and probably make mistakes, just like my makeshift horizontal slash drill after the fireworks show.
However, this would come with the cons of being surrounded by talented individuals, and as I had mentioned earlier, I would be missing out on the competitive environment of the Worldly class.
She probably loathed me, anyway.
I would also become somewhat reliant on my teachers instead of myself, leading to progression problems in the future.
Sighing, I dejectedly shook my head and looked up at Daisy’s grim expression.
"I think I’ll stay in my imaginary world, for now."
Staring at me for a moment, Daisy remained still, blocking my way eastward.
Although her expression was neutral, she was probably bewildered that someone was willingly leaving the Imperial class.
At this point, only a couple of other dazed students and I remained in the plaza, and staff members could be seen stacking up chairs, starting from the back row.
A couple of silent moments later, Daisy’s emotionless voice sounded again.
"Call me Professor Daisy."
Without waiting for my answer, she grabbed my shoulder and dragged me back across the row of now-empty chairs, heading westward.
Not even looking back to make sure I was listening, Daisy continued.
"Since the imperial class is so small, each student is assigned a teacher mentor and advisor. While the process is usually random, I’ve already selected you."
Pausing for a moment at the sheer absurdity of the situation, I clutched my head.
Within the hour she dropped me off at the academy and the end of the entrance ceremony, Daisy had selected me as her student..?
Furthermore...she wasn’t even a sword-user! Daisy used a gun, an entirely different weapon with another set of skills...how could she be my mentor!?
As Daisy yanked me out of the plaza and onto the stone path that led through the forest surrounding the academy, I recalled the entrance ceremony.
Minutes ago, I had called Raven a dog, but here I was, getting dragged around like a child.
Daisy wasn’t even in the wrong, either; as a professor, she was simply following the academy’s rules.
If she knowingly allowed an enlightened student to join the Worldly class, she would most likely lose her job...but I doubted that the reason she was dragging me.
Even in my mind, I knew that the Imperial dorms were objectively the better place for me if I wanted to become stronger...but the environment discouraged me.
Unlike the Worldly class, where most were starting from nothing like me, the Imperial class contained talents who had been training since their childhood.
It wasn’t the ridicule or insults I would receive for being weak in the Imperial class that bothered me.
It was the fact that I couldn’t do anything about it.
I would be powerless.
Like an ant stuck in a city of humans.
Simply knowing I had the power to crush anyone who attacked me was enough, but I didn’t even have that.
Suddenly, Professor Daisy’s voice echoed from right in front of me as she finally looked back and made eye contact with me.
"Don’t you know? You’re my first student. Can’t have you any lower than number one."
Though I wanted to ask the infamous question, "Why me?" I knew she would answer with some vague bullshit, so I just stayed silent.
Perhaps I could survive with the help of a mentor.
Or, after the first semester, I could just drop down to the Worldly class.
After all, I had four years in this academy.
To my left, countless oak trees, each stretching far beyond double my height, appeared, forming the dense forest that surrounded the academy.
And, to my right, massive residential and academic buildings came into sight, each having countless windows and double glass doors.
*THUD*
Suddenly, I felt myself descend while my butt immediately hit the hard stone ground, causing me to buckle in pain.
"Be ready for tomorrow. You’ll have your lecture classes and then train with me."
With those words, Daisy departed, vanishing from my sight and into a nearby academic building in a matter of seconds.
As I looked upward while sitting on the ground, a massive building, decorated with countless crimson-red banners and golden medals, towered in front of me.
Most strikingly, a gold-plated phoenix, in the shape of a circle, stretched from the second-floor windows to the top.
Representing the current emperor’s belief that the human will was like a phoenix fire, impossible to put out, the symbol dazzled under the sun’s rays.
In contrast to the other plain academic buildings, the Imperial dormitory also had a mana circle sitting in front of it, rather than a door.
Taking a deep breath and calming myself down, I stood back up and walked forward.
Future dukes, grand dukes, and even emperors of the human realm would soon be in front of me.
The connections I could form now quite literally change the path of my life.
Unfortunately, though, I wasn’t planning on making any.
If I had, the hero would still be beside me.
Isolating myself from important plot figures...should be the best choice, right..?
After all, one slight slip-up in front of these influential figures, and my life would be gone.
As I stepped into the middle of the magic circle, it immediately flashed a dark purple, as if confirming if I was allowed inside, before returning to its normal light blue.
Then, in the next second, I was instantly...transported inside.
I blinked, and in the next moment, my surroundings had completely shifted. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
