Transmigrated Into The True Heiress-Chapter 96: Not Impossible
Chapter 96: Not Impossible
Lyle stood a few feet away, his arms crossed as he watched the procedure with an intensity that made the assistants in the room shift uncomfortably.
As Liam inserted the needle into her vein, Eira winced but didn’t flinch. The clear tube connected to the syringe slowly filled with her blood, the crimson liquid a stark contrast against the pristine white of the lab.
"Her vitals are stable," one of the assistants noted, monitoring a screen nearby.
"Good," Liam said, withdrawing the needle after a few moments and applying a small bandage to Eira’s arm. "That’s it. I’ll begin the analysis immediately."
Eira flexed her fingers, relieved the process was over. She stood, but before she could step away, Liam stopped her.
"Wait, Ephyra," Liam said, his tone more serious now as he set the blood sample aside. His sharp eyes locked onto hers, studying her with renewed interest. "I need to ask you something before you go."
Eira paused, exchanging a glance with Lyle, who took a subtle step closer, his protective aura evident. "What is it?" she asked cautiously.
Liam adjusted his glasses, his expression thoughtful. "Have you noticed anything unusual about yourself lately? Symptoms, sensations, or even emotions that seem... out of place?"
Eira frowned, crossing her arms. "Not really. Unless you count the constant chaos surrounding me as unusual."
Liam didn’t smile at her attempt at humor. Instead, he continued, "What I mean is, have there been moments when you felt an overwhelming surge of emotion—whether yours or someone else’s—without any clear cause? Or moments when your body reacts in ways it never has before?"
Eira hesitated, thinking back to recent events. She had felt strange at times—emotions that didn’t seem entirely hers, moments of clarity followed by inexplicable exhaustion. But she hadn’t thought much of it, attributing it to stress and her rapidly changing circumstances.
"There have been... moments," she admitted. "Why? Is it important?"
Liam nodded, his brow furrowed as he glanced at Lyle. "Based on the data from my research and what Lyle has told me about your connection, there’s a possibility that your bond isn’t just one-sided. It’s not just her affecting you, Lyle—it might be mutual."
Eira’s eyes widened, and Lyle’s expression darkened. "What does that mean?" Lyle demanded, his voice low and sharp. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"It means," Liam explained, gesturing toward the monitors, "that while Ephyra’s emotional and biochemical state affects you, your condition might also influence her in ways we don’t fully understand yet. This could manifest as heightened sensitivity, unexplained exhaustion, or even changes in her own emotional state. If this bond deepens, it could become dangerous—for both of you."
Eira’s stomach tightened. "Dangerous how?"
Liam sighed, his voice tinged with concern. "If your connection continues to evolve, any severe physical or emotional strain on either of you could have repercussions on the other. In extreme cases, it could even lead to shared injuries or synchronized emotional collapses. The stronger the bond becomes, the harder it will be to separate your well-being from his."
"Isn’t that supposed to be impossible?" Eira’s hands clenched into fists at her sides. "So what are you saying? That we’re stuck like this forever?"
"Regarding the both of you, nothing is impossible." Liam hesitated, clearly reluctant to answer. "Not necessarily. But we need to monitor both of you closely and proceed with extreme caution. If the antidote works, it could stabilize Lyle’s condition and possibly weaken the bond. But until then... you’ll have to stay together."
"Before I forget, it might also cause changes in your personality. For example, one of you may change from being indifferent to being attentive or caring but not overly so."
Eira glanced at Lyle. He was the one who had been behaving differently and being so calm and attentive to her. Was their connection the reason behind it?
Eira opened her mouth to respond but closed it again, unsure of what to say. Her thoughts were a whirlwind. This connection between her and Lyle was unlike anything she had heard of. How could their emotions, their very beings, become so intertwined?
Lyle’s voice broke through her thoughts. "So what you’re saying is that I’m responsible for her changes," he said, his tone unreadable but his gaze unwavering on Liam.
"Not entirely," Liam clarified. "The bond is mutual. It’s possible that Ephyra’s emotional state has also been influencing you in ways you might not have realized yet."
Lyle glanced at Eira, his expression softening slightly. "I see."
Eira shook her head, her arms wrapping around herself defensively. "This is ridiculous. How could something like this even happen? Bonds like this... they’re supposed to be stories, myths."
Liam tilted his head, his tone turning thoughtful. "Perhaps, but myths often have roots in reality. And considering the unique circumstances surrounding both of you, it’s not entirely surprising that something unprecedented has occurred—at least to me."
Eira exhaled sharply, pacing the room. "So now what? Do we just sit around and wait for things to get worse? What’s the solution?"
Liam held up a hand to calm her. "The immediate solution is to continue monitoring you both. The antidote I’m working on for Lyle might help weaken or stabilize the bond, as I mentioned earlier."
"What about Lyle’s illness?"
Lyle interrupted, his voice calm but firm. He stepped closer to Eira, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You’ve done enough for today," he said, his tone softening as he looked into her eyes. "Let’s go."
Eira hesitated, torn between wanting answers and needing to get away from the overwhelming situation. Finally, she nodded, allowing Lyle to guide her out of the lab. She cast a glance back at Liam, who was already turning to his monitors, deep in thought.
The ride back to the mansion was silent. Eira stared out of the window, her mind racing with questions and doubts. The bond between her and Lyle was far more complex than she had imagined. The possibility of their emotions and physical well-being being intertwined felt both terrifying and strangely comforting.
What the hell?!
