Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 402: A casanova with a moral code.
Chapter 402: A casanova with a moral code.
Far away from the Blue star, in the sky station, Esong was bored after another patrol of the surrounding areas. It had been a week of monitoring duty and all was silent above, no danger could be detected.
To occupy his time, he and his men watched sports matches, engaged in mecha fights. They also played games, watched movies and soap operas.
The sky station was occupied mostly with engineers, doctors and mecha warriors. A new recent addition was the group of chefs who prepared food for everyone that worked there. Esong was sure that if more people were made aware of the knowledge that those who worked in the sky station had access to all sorts of good food, they would sign up to work there without hesitation.
"What are you eating?" Ian asked Esong.
Lately, Esong was behaving like a bottomless pit and every time he returned from patrol, he would eat something. There was a general question being raised among the men out of jealousy, just how much had Scarlet packed for him?
"Instant pumpkin pudding," he answered.
"What is that?" Captain Jacks came closer, before Ian did. He squeezed himself in the chair next to Esong in the monitoring room from where they were keeping an eye on the view provided by the drones and rotating shoot to kill drones.
Captain Jacks poked his finger forward in an attempt to get a taste of what Esong was eating out of the glass jar with a spoon.
Esong brought his pudding closer to his chest and pushed the chair Jacks was sitting on away with his mental strength.
"Take your unsanitary fingers away from me. I don’t know where, what or who they have been touching." He said with disgust.
They had been there for a week and Jacks was already sleeping with one chef, two engineers and another mecha warrior.
"He is right, you are gross." Ian added.
Jacks pouted and said, "You guys are so judgmental. What’s wrong with having a little fun? " He looked at Ian and said, "Last I checked you did not have anybody warming your bed, I can understand Esong’s need to preserve his private bits because he is married happily but not you. Are you planning to join the monks soon?"
Ian showed them a hologram of a woman and said, "For your information I am not single anymore. This guy right here found himself a girlfriend during the new year’s holiday."
He was smiling proudly and pointing at himself with both of his thumbs.
"Boring." Jacks bellowed. "Now, gimme some of that orange goo Esong."
Pretending as if he had not heard the request, Esong continued looking at the monitor as he licked his spoon and his lips.
His phone dinged and he removed it from his pocket, he read something and he frowned. It seemed like what he read, he did not like.
"What’s the matter?" Ian asked.
"My wife is going to Zord on some alliance meeting with the emperor and a few officials of the empire. What kind of bull is this? Do they know how dangerous such a mission is?" he complained, still scrolling through the phone.
"It depends on the kind of security they are taking, the emperor would not move unless he is assured of his safety." Ian told him. "Who is going from our association?"
"It’s General Patterson’s men." Esong said.
"Hell no!" Jacks said, "That slimy bastard, I don’t trust him one bit. They should have contacted our death thunder army; we are the best among the mecha warriors. Who gave the emperor this absurd security plan? If there was a vote for most likely to betray his men or his empire, Patterson would be at the top."
Esong was irritated, and the more Jacks talked, the more his anger flared up. "I am definitely going to make a few calls about this. I will not let my wife be in danger because of incompetent warriors like Patterson. And why is the RGB involved in this? Who is this captain Atlas that is leading them on this mission?"
Jacks touched his terminal and showed Esong a picture, "Is it this the Atlas to whom you refer?" He asked warily.
Esong checked the identities of those who had been named on the document and he nodded.
"Fuck this monitoring shit; we need to be on that trip." Jacks exploded. "Look, Atlas does not attach himself to random mission without expecting something in return whether it’s money, a promotion or a woman. I am a bastard that sleeps around but I have morals and code, for example, married women or men are not my cup of tea.
Atlas has no code, he is more of a thrill seeker who likes a challenge. He prefers married women, the more beautiful, out of reach and influential they are the better."
Jacks looked around warily as if he was about to reveal a very big secret. He even went ahead to erect a sound barrier around the three of them.
All this mystery made Ian and Esong curious about what he was going to say next.
Jacks whispered, even though nobody outside the barrier could hear them, "I know for a fact that Atlas once considered pursing the empress. But, she is different from the other married women he messes around with because the emperor will rip his neck off his body if he dares to do such a thing.
If your wife and Atlas are going for the same trip, I can assure you buddy that Atlas will try something unless another more challenging target presents itself. But let’s all be honest here, what challenge is bigger than the wife of a mecha king, a general of the empire, one whose prowess is sung and told everywhere?"
Esong frowned, and clenched the glass which held the pudding tightly in his hand. His mind was filled with images of Atlas attempting to seduce his wife. The glass shattered and Esong punched the counter on which the pudding had been sitting, cracking it as well.
That small crack caused a code red alarm to go off inside the sky station and Ian hurried away to input a code that would shut off the alarm.
"Hehe, buddy, calm down. Your wife did not look at me twice and I am more handsome and charming than Atlas. He may try, but she will not fall for it. Everyone in the empire knows that Scarlet is obsessed with you." Jacks told him.
He should not have mentioned this to Esong who cold sometimes go off like a bomb. He did not know that Esong was just as possessive of his wife as she was of him. If he had known perhaps he would have worded the truth more carefully.
"I am going to train." Esong abruptly and he stood up.
Captain Jacks could only watch him leave and say a prayer for whoever Esong’s training partner was going to be in this exercise because they were so dead. They were in for a very brutal beating.
He looked sadly at the orange pumpkin pudding that had been wasted, "Aah, I didn’t get a taste." He said with a sigh.
