Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 718: Where is Karma?
Chapter 718: Where is Karma?
It started off as a joke but indeed, they found their way to the earth, right in the place where Scarlet had died which was now a large mall.
If she was an ordinary reaper she would not have been able to step foot on earth as she didn’t have the permission of earth’s reaper. But, she was a kopuko, so she could go anywhere. As for Esong, Nyx was demi-god, the shadow prince of the underworld. He could visit any world he pleased.
Earth had changed and Scarlet could hardly recognize the old world from the new one it had become. It had been rebuilt into a more developed world. It wasn’t half as developed as the Sun star or most of the other empires in the alliance but it was not the same small fish at the bottom of the sea anymore.
Immediately noticeable were the flying cars, armor, artificial intelligence which was everywhere. Drones, tall city walls, bionic scans, clean roads and extra.
Of course, with humans developing super powers, some things were bound to change. Apparently people flying to work was normal. At one spot, Scarlet saw them ferrying people from one spot to another like taxi drivers.
"Ho!!, now this is funny." she chuckled.
Did earth need airplanes anymore now that humans could fly others around for a fee.
"This is where you come from?" Esong asked as they flew over an endless city.
"It’s different." she answered. "What year is it?"
She looked at billboards, television screens especially those that aired the news.
"Two thousand seventy eight." he answered.
She stopped flying and turned to him. How many years had passed between her death and now? She was certain that she had been gone for less than three years.
"Your old world is now called united earth." he said.
Her mind had travelled a little so she didn’t notice when he grabbed a hold of a flying human and decided to read their mind.
"The one we are looking for is Fan Kuan. You said his special power was fire related. He is alive and well, these humans have made some advancements i guess. They can now live to one hundred fifty three years. That man is one of the most influential humans on this world."
"Eh." she somewhat shouted in surprise.
"Got him, let’s go." he added.
She was still processing what Esong had said when he grabbed her hand and teleported them straight into someone’s house.
The someone was none other than her past lover who betrayed her. There were various pictures on the wall of this house, pictures of him in the past and present. He was now married to a beautiful woman and he had been blessed with two children. His house was big, he was wealthy and held a high position in the military of the new united earth.
Life was good for him despite the fact that he had directly led to her death. No__, he had killed her by shooting her legs.
An ugly look came over Scarlet’s face and she went into a rant. "Aaah, this son of a bitch, how can he live a good life after what he did to me? I thought karma comes back to bite everyone that does wrong in the ass. Where is his karma? Where is the goddess of justice, i need to have a word with her. I should just burn this whole house down. No, i should burn the man himself."
Esong saw the green flames spark in her hands and he teleported them away from the new united earth directly. The angrier she became, the more likely she was to go through with the decision. Being a kopuko would not protect her from the old gods if she killed a human out of vengeance for a wrong done to her when she was still human.
This was why reapers were not allowed back on their original worlds. It was to avoid acts of vengeance. Fan Kuan’s fate was not hers to decide.
He took her directly back to the Blue star, to their home and into the nursery where their children were still sleeping. Nothing got her to calm down faster than looking at their babies.
Scarlet sighed loudly, once, twice and then a third time. She still couldn’t believe that the bastard was living a good life. How many more people had he gone on to harm after her? He had not climbed up to where he was with clean hands.
Esong had no idea what to do so he hugged her from the back and whispered, "Sorry, I shouldn’t have taken you back. I thought that maybe he was dead or suffering. But, don’t worry, just because justice has not dealt with him yet doesn’t mean she won’t. No human takes the life of another and ends up living a good life in the next cycle. Even if he doesn’t suffer now, he will suffer later."
Scarlet shook her head and a tired moan made it’s way out of her mouth. On looking at the things she had now, her life , children and husband, it didn’t matter anymore. She was immortal, he was mortal and he had a terrible fate in store for his next life. Did being angry over a killer who never loved her truly matter?
The more common sense and logic walked through her mind, the less she cared about her past. She had a bright future to look ahead to.
She shrugged then, feeling a burden rolling off her shoulders. "You know what, i couldn’t care less anymore."
Esong moved his hands to her shoulders and turned her around so that he could look her in the eyes and feel the weight of her declaration.
"Really?" he asked tentatively.
"Mmmm." she nodded. "My life now is better than it was back then. If i hadn’t been killed, i wouldn’t be here right now with you. I wouldn’t be a kopuko or immortal. For all i know, even if it wasn’t him, i would still have ended up as zombie dinner."
He embraced her tightly in relief and teleported them to the bedroom. He didn’t go to the bed but the balcony and he sat down on the couch so that they could watch the sun rising together.
He even placed Nyx’s flute above the balcony door. He knew how much she loved listening to it. Good thing it could play automatically.
Watching the golden rays of both suns come out while listening to the flute, a smiled formed on her face. The world was too beautiful for anger to eat her up.
She waved her hand and opened the balcony door, letting in the rays and first heat of the day. It felt so nice when the sun hit her face.
As she enjoyed the feeling of being kissed by the morning suns, she thought about the last time they had both been out all night like this. It had never actually happened before.
They had not spent an entire night out adventuring without a plan. Most nights that they spent out also usually ended in sex. This one had really been a different kind of night, which they had both enjoyed.
"I can’t believe that we have stayed out all night." she said.
She turned to him and laid her head naturally against his shoulder. She closed her eyes to catch enjoy the sun
"I think dating is better now that we have wings and can go from world to world. Next time, i will take you to that world with all the mermaids. It will be more romantic to see that blue moon together. What do you think?"
He looked down and realized that she had fast fallen asleep.
