Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 717: A touch of the past
Chapter 717: A touch of the past
For a while, they flew around aimlessly, with no destination in mind. Eventually, they ended up teleporting to the dead world where the inter-realm games would be held. They touched down in the middle of one of the largest stadiums to ever be built in the universe.
Scarlet had this brilliant idea to create games she had seen in animations. This stadium was for viewing games that involved literally moving the earth like in avatar the animation.
"What kind of games will be played here?" Esong asked her after looking around for a while. He couldn’t begin to guess because the field was not normal.
It was sort of similar to the football fields on their planet but different.
"One of the mountain trolls suggested a game where they fight using the soil, dirt and sand as weapons. Over ten thousand creatures whose powers are related to the earth will get in the field and tousle it out. The goal is to send as many opponents over the edge of the field and to their death while advancing.
Around the field we have a sea of fire, specially made blades from Apheitos which can cut even a stone man, grinders and other very dangerous things that guarantee death." She smiled and clarified, "Not permanent death. Annihilation is not the goal of the games."
She pointed to another side of the field that formed a mountain. "The game is played in levels, level one to twenty. The higher you go, the more deadly and painful your death becomes. If you look beyond the mist on the mountain you can detect hanging streams with ancient mega sea creatures that have existed for millions of years. Tridon added them for fun because he wants to see a lot of blood drawn until the water turns red."
She saw the frown on his face and shrugged.
"It’s barbaric but that the whole point of most of the games, to elicit the same level of excitement which war brings."
"I was just thinking that Tridon is a psychopath. As for the game, i could see myself participating in it."
She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Why did he want to participate in such a game. It was not exactly structured and he preferred structured games.
"Which one of you wants to play?"
"Both of us." Two voices spoke up as one. "We would like to see how many opponents we can push to their death or down into the abyss i can sense below. The higher one goes, the more dreadful it will get."
It was an interesting game to him, no foes and no friends, just one person on a rampage until they got to the top and claimed victory. This was the perfect game for those that liked violence, chaos or simply winning.
"It’s not for reapers." she told him. "It’s for earth related creatures only."
"That’s not fair." he grumbled out. "It’s discrimination against other creatures. I would like to make a formal complaint to the council of inter-realm games. The head of the council is my Susu so i am sure that she will hear me out and pass a ruling in my favor."
"Personal relationships will not affect the rules of the games." She answered, in monotone.
He suddenly went around her, grabbed her by the waist and trailed his hands up to her breasts with speed.
"What if i promise to put out?" he asked.
She didn’t have a sensible response to his stupid question. All she had was a smile and a chuckle. The silliness in the man had kicked up a notch since he returned.
"No." she slapped his hands away.
Undefeated, the hands moved to her butt and he whispered, "What if i..."
"No." she cut him off and pushed his back with her hips. "It’s not a game for you. If adjustments need doing, they will be done before the next season of that particular game begins."
He sighed sadly and dropped to the ground. Like a kid whose candy had been snatched, he pouted. All he was short of was throwing his legs out and whining.
"It’s not fair." he mumbled.
She sat down in front of him and randomly handed him a lollipop, comforting him the same way a mother would a child that was throwing a tantrum in a shopping mall. "Be good." She reached up and touched his head. "You can take part in five other games, stop acting as if i have denied you participation in the best and only game. We can go and take a look at the field of rings of fire. I added my flames to it so only the most daring creatures will participate in it."
He unwrapped the lollipop and put it in his mouth. His face was still sulky so she knew this was far from over. If he was like this, there would surely be others just as determined to participate as they wished in any game of their choosing.
"What was your life like in the past, before you became Scarlet the reaper?" he asked suddenly.
She was slightly bewildered with the way he had jumped from one topic to this new one. Had he given up or lost interest?
Still, she chose to answer his question because this topic was bound to be raised at one point or the other.
"I come or is it came...." she moved her eyes around, confused. Then she shrugged, "It doesn’t matter anyway. I lived on a planet called Earth. I was born in one country but raised in another because my parents...." she stopped and sighed. That also didn’t matter, what he asked about was her life, not history of the earth or a record of everything from the moment she was born.
"What’s wrong?" he touched her hand and asked, his voice gentle.
She shook her head and made a decision to summarize her past. "My life was good, i was a lazy rich girl who lived a carefree lie like your sister Emily. And then one day, an illness arrived, something so terrible that drove humans out of their minds. It was a sickness that turned humans into monsters that we called zombies."
She didn’t want to explain zombies when it was easier to show him. She showed him some of the memories from her old world.
He got to see the zombies, zombie hunters, the cruelty they meted out on each other until sanity returned with the awakening of superpowers.
At the end of the viewing and narration she said, "I think i would have lived good life if that bastard had not fed me to the zombies. Someday i will request the lord of death to allow me return to earth just so i can reap his soul. There is no way that asshole has a good soul. I really hope that he is suffering right now."
She talked about her past lover with disdain which both Esong and Nyx liked. If she had talked about him with fondness, they would be unhappy.
While she was angry at what he did to her, they were not. As terrible as it was, that was the action which brought her to them.
Esong asked her, "Do you want to go and take a look."
