Transmigration: Step Into The World of Books And Become The Strongest!-Chapter 61: The Disappointment of Sharon and Nathan Showing Kindness
At the sound of that voice, Sharon’s expression instantly shifted.
"Father asked me to come? For what?" She asked with a frown.
Arthur, who had expected this reaction, merely smiled without saying a word.
"Of course, it’s about the awakening of your attribute, Princess," he replied casually, picking up a piece of shrimp and placing it on her plate. "Now that you’ve awakened the golden light attribute—the rarest in the world—it’s only natural he would seek you out and try to win your favor. After all, you’re a highly valuable asset to the Valdom Magic Kingdom."
Sharon immediately understood what he meant, and a wry smile curved her lips.
"So he’s looking for me just because of that, huh?"
She stabbed the shrimp with her fork and popped it into her mouth, her gaze dropping to her plate as if to hide the sadness in her eyes.
Since childhood, her father had never shown her even a trace of affection or care. All she ever received was coldness, indifference, and neglect.
And now, even after awakening her attribute, nothing had changed—he sought her out not out of love, but because of her value.
It would be a lie to say it didn’t hurt.
Arthur sighed softly and reached out to gently pat her head. "I know you’re hurting, Princess Sharon. But this is the reality you must face. To gain something, you often have to give something in return. Even the love you seek from your father comes at a cost."
"He’ll treat you differently now because you have value—and that value lies in the attribute you’ve awakened."
His words left Sharon in silence for a long while. Then, she slowly lifted her head and met his gaze.
"Are you the same, Aron? Do you love me only because I have value?"
The question struck him like a blow. Arthur’s body stiffened, and for a moment, he was completely speechless.
The truth was, the kindness and care he had shown Sharon all this time had only been part of his mission. To deny that would be nothing but hypocrisy.
But ever since last night, something had changed. He no longer saw Sharon as just a target—she was a person now, someone he genuinely cared for.
Someone he wanted to protect. Someone who deserved a happy ending—something she had never experienced in the original storyline.
Taking a deep breath, he lowered the hand resting on her head and gently pinched her cheek.
"Don’t worry, Princess. Even if the world turns its back on you... even if you lose all your worth—I’ll stay by your side. That’s my vow," he said, his voice firm and sincere.
Sharon was quiet for a moment, then smiled—warm, bright, and full of life.
"Thank you, Aron..."

In his workspace, Nathan sat in a chair, absorbed in the demands of government affairs.
To many, his position might appear as though he were lounging on a throne, issuing orders to ministers and high-ranking officials.
But that assumption was far from the truth. His job was far more taxing—evaluating the work of his ministers, reorganizing the kingdom’s policies, and handling countless other responsibilities.
On top of that, he had to ensure his people lived in prosperity, free from hardship. If he failed, discontent could spread—and, eventually, it could ignite rebellion.
*Knock!*
Just as he was buried in paperwork, a knock echoed from the door, followed by the calm voice of a young girl.
"Your Majesty, it’s me, Sharon. May I come in?"
Nathan paused, his hand frozen mid-motion. He turned to the door with a neutral expression.
"Come in, Sharon. The door is unlocked."
*Clack!*
The door opened, revealing Sharon’s graceful figure. She stepped inside, closing the door behind her with care.
She then walked toward Nathan’s desk, halting about a meter away.
"Good afternoon, Your Majesty," Sharon said with formal respect, lifting the hem of her dress as she bowed. "I heard from the servant that you called for me. How may I assist you?"
Nathan’s brows furrowed at her overly formal tone, particularly when she addressed him as "Your Majesty" instead of "Father."
"Don’t be so formal, Sharon," Nathan said, taking a deep breath as he leaned back in his chair. "Call me Father, not Your Majesty. It makes our relationship feel distant."
At his words, Sharon couldn’t help but smile inwardly, but it was a sad, hollow smile.
In the past, such a gesture from him might have filled her with happiness.
But now, there was no trace of joy in her heart.
She wasn’t sure why, but one thing was certain—she had grown too disillusioned with her father.
When hope turns to disappointment, it creates a wound that no medicine can heal.
And that’s exactly how she felt now.
With a calm expression, she slowly raised her gaze and replied, "I’m sorry, Your Majesty. Calling you ’Father’ is forbidden by the Queen and the concubines. And you... you’ve indirectly agreed to that prohibition in the past. So, I’m afraid I can’t."
"You..." Nathan was taken aback by her response, wanting to argue, but the words stuck in his throat.
He suddenly recalled how Victoria and the concubines had always disapproved of the way Sharon addressed him. And in that moment, he chose silence—silence that spoke of acceptance.
Had he known from the start that Sharon was such a remarkable child, perhaps he would have stood by her sooner.
But regret had no remedy. Even if he forced her to call him "Father" now, it would be meaningless.
Sharon’s changed demeanor made it clear—she was no longer the quiet little girl who had once accepted everything in silence.
"Well, let’s put that aside for now," Nathan said, massaging his temples. "The reason I called you here is to restore your status as a royal princess. What do you think? Do you agree with my offer?"
Although Sharon was officially a princess, she held no real power like other royal family members.
That power—political, financial, and social influence—had always been out of her reach. In many ways, her title was little more than a formality, a meaningless designation.
Nathan wanted to change that. He hoped to grant Sharon real power so that her status as princess would have substance, not just be a title on paper.
His hope was that, if Sharon grew strong enough one day, she might develop a sense of attachment to the kingdom—and be willing to protect it.
But despite Nathan’s expectations, Sharon’s expression remained unchanged. She shook her head slowly.
"I’m sorry, Your Majesty. I cannot accept your offer."
