True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 269: Final Act I
"..."
There was a moment of silence as they watched Reks ’violate’ Elizabeth in shock. Daniel was too stunned at the sight that welcomed him as his mouth opened and closed like a fish.
Cora and Silas were the same. Moments ago, Reks told them he figured out a way to calm Elizabeth down. They didn’t know this would be his idea!
Elizabeth roared when Reks pounced on her, and then he bit her neck to submission. Although she struggled for a bit, the slight relief of his teeth into her skin calmed her down.
A loud roar snapped Silas and Cora back from their daze, understanding Reks’ cue. Disregarding the situation between Reks and Elizabeth, Silas and Cora leaped forward, knocking Elizabeth out while she had her guards down.
Elizabeth growled, and then it slowly turned into whimpers, gradually losing her consciousness as her glowing eyes dimmed. Reks remained on top of her until both of them morphed back into their human form.
However, even before Reks could reach the completion of his human form, a powerful kick landed on his side, which caused him to fly away.
"Fucking pervert." Cora ground her teeth while Silas tossed his top to cover his sister’s body. "Once Vic wakes up, we will kill him."
She cracked her knuckles while Silas shook his head sideways. The latter gazed at Elizabeth before bending down on his knee, brushing Elizabeth’s forehead gently.
"I’m glad she’s alright," he expressed with a deep sigh of relief. "Although it seemed she’s very exhausted and wouldn’t wake up for days."
"That’s better than not waking up at all." Cora shot him a glance before shifting her attention back to Elizabeth.
"You’re right." Silas securely covered Elizabeth’s body before carrying her in his arms.
"That’s a surprise."
The two snapped their eyes as they looked in Daniel’s direction.
"Dan!" called Cora as relief took over her face. Her eyes scrutinized him from head to toe, sighing in relief once again seeing that her brother seemed alright.
"Did you finish him?" Silas inquired, shifting his eyes behind Daniel and asked, "Did he get away?" seeing that Cedrick wasn’t anywhere.
"Dead." Both Silas and Cora looked back at Daniel at his reply. "He turned into ash when I took out his heart."
There was a moment of silence between the three of them. It was only interrupted when they heard Reks grumble from a distance.
"Anyway!" Cora clapped to get her brother’s attention, forcing a smile while darting her eyes between them. "That’s a minus. He’s a troublesome fellow with that demonic wings. That left us with just one."
"You’re right." Silas nodded in agreement, only to furrow his brows as his eyes fell on Daniel. "Any problem?"
Daniel blinked back from his trance. "Uh, it’s nothing. Just..." he trailed off as he slowly looked up in the sky.
Not just him, but Cora and Silas also raised their head, only to see the sky split.
"What the hell...?" she whispered in disbelief as the black space akin to a portal in the night sky grow bigger.
"The fuck is that?" Silas narrowed his eyes, acknowledging the restlessness of his heart.
Meanwhile, Daniel could only hold his breath. Unlike Cora and Silas, this... was familiar to him.
"Hugh," he muttered while his chest moved in and out heavily. "What the hell happened?"
Not just the three of them, but every werewolf and vampire on the land also looked up at the same night sky. Everyone was unaware of what it was, but there was only one feeling that dominated their hearts.
Dread.

At the gates of the palace...
"Grandpa..." Toby held Deimos’ hand as he felt the sudden dread outside the guardhouse where they were treating the emperor’s injuries. He then gazed at Tito, who was standing by the door, leaning against the jamb with his arms crossed.
"Uncle," he whispered.
This was the first time he had seen Tito bear such a solemn expression. Although Tito looked intimidating at first glance, this was the first Tito truly felt intimidating, not just because of his tough shell.
"Your father will be alright, boy." Deimos forced a smile as he planted his palm on top of Toby’s head. "He will be."
Deep in his heart, even though he hadn’t seen what was going on outside, his instinct told him it was terrible. His jaw tightened, eyes burning, praying to the moon goddess to watch over them.
Meanwhile, Tito kept his eyes outside — at the night sky, to be exact. A minute passed before he carefully set his eyes back inside.
"Toby, can you watch over Father for now?" he asked, watching Toby raise his brows.
"Uncle, where are you going?"
"To check on something." Tito glanced at Deimos and tilted his head down slightly. The latter let out a deep exhale before he waved.
"I am handicapped, but that doesn’t mean you should entrust my life in the hands of a boy. He’s too young for that responsibility," Deimos argued as he gazed at the young bear, who truly resembled Hugo in a strange way. "I’ll protect my grandson. Do what you must do."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
"Uncle..." Toby whispered, clutching his hand close to his eyes while watching Tito flee the guard tower. He then turned his head in Deimos’ direction, only to see the latter smile reassuringly.

Meanwhile...
"Luna!"
I heard Natan yell from behind me, but I didn’t look back. My heart was pounding against my chest and my calm breathing slowly grew ragged. Even when I didn’t look up, I knew what was already forming in the sky.
The hell’s gate.
Yes. From the sky. A portal that connected the mortal world to the underground world — another way to the empyrean realm.
But that wasn’t the thing that terrified me. Neither did the gates that were the source of the dread creeping up my spine and settling in my heart. It was the fact that the wolf awakened.
"Hugh..." I whispered, picking up my pace, catching a glimpse of the Ronmin Empire. Close, yet too far.
