True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 287: The new Ronmin
Thirty years later...
"Grandpa! Grandpa!"
The faces of the children in the streets brightened up as soon as they laid their eyes on the old man approaching them with a cane. His long hair was blanched just like his long beard, chuckling heartily as he spread his hand to welcome them.
"Grandpa, we’ve been waiting for you!" said a young boy, standing in front of the old man while the latter planted his hand on the boy’s head.
"You didn’t finish the story the other day! We want to hear more about the lamb and the wolf!"
"Yes! I want to be just as strong as the wolf!"
The old man’s eyes glossed over at the enthusiastic children who were waiting for him to arrive. He rocked his head, lips parting, but before he could speak, a voice from behind rang in his ear.
"Hey! These kids... do you have any idea how old my father is!?" A lady stormed in their direction, causing the children to hide behind the old man while the latter faced her. "These brats... I’ll give you a beating. Come here!"
"Victoria, I only see my grandchildren once every week. Give them a break." Deimos, the current king of the renewed Ronmin, raised a hand to stop his daughter from bullying her nieces and nephews. "The last time you played with them, Teresa and Priscilla didn’t talk to me for days."
Elizabeth clicked her tongue as she glanced at the five children hiding behind Deimos. "Hey. Didn’t you say I’m your favorite auntie? Why are you so happy when you saw my father but looked at me with fear instead?" she asked, sending a chill down the children’s spine.
"Victoria..." Deimos sighed as he glanced at his grandchildren, seeing fear dominate their innocent eyes. He was aware these children did say their favorite auntie was Elizabeth, but they said so under duress. All he could do was shake his head before talking to his daughter calmly.
While Deimos was telling Victoria to stop putting the children in distress, Cora watched them from the window of an establishment by the street. She clicked her tongue continuously, leaning against the jamb with her arms crossed.
"Hey, Reks. Your wife is at it again," she muttered, shifting her eyes to her brother-in-law, who was sitting around the table with Garrett and Silas as they enjoyed their booze. "Get your wife, will you? I don’t want to hear Teresa’s whining because her big sister kept bullying her daughter."
Reks hissed after downing his mug of booze. "Hell no!" came out a yell as he slammed the mug on the table. "I’m not sacrificing myself for the goodness of this world!"
"Goodness... didn’t you say you will catch the stars and moon for her if she marries you?" asked Silas, scrunching his nose up in disdain. "What happened to that?"
"My brother-in-law, I love your sister, but I’m no hero. She likes the children and simply wants to say hello."
"Say hello by threatening them?" Silas argued sarcastically. "If she really likes children, you two should make one."
"Uhm, hello? How can I bear a child? Liza likes kids, but she is afraid of carrying one. I might’ve given up at the thought of catching the stars and moon for her, but I respect my wife’s decision. She is afraid of carrying a child, and I am willing to wait until she is ready." Reks shrugged nonchalantly. "I mean, no one can say our family isn’t complete since my wife completes me already."
"Wow..." Silas clapped before he raised his head in the staircase where Tomas was jogging his way down. "Tom! Did you hear this guy? He’s spewing nonsense again!"
"I’d rather stay deaf than listen to his love story with Vic. I’ve already listened enough during our previous expedition in the northern region." Tomas rolled his eyes as he dragged a chair around the same table. Leaning an arm on the edge of the table, he clicked his tongue and looked at Silas.
"Even the Tarsa felt disgusted at this lovesick. His proud gloating affected the morale of the unmated young wolves. They nearly died against a monster. He’s that despicable! If not for the fact that his wife is my sister, we had buried him on the mountaintop."
"Goodness... you’re just jealous since our love for each other is stronger than the borders around Ronmin."
"Tell that to Ivo. He had prepared a long list of why Victoria needs to leave you in the future." Tomas tipped his head as he reached for the decanter to pour himself a glass to enjoy. "Don’t test him. You know how convincing Ivo can be. You don’t want him approaching Vic."
This time, Reks frowned upon the mention of Ivo. "Damn..."
"You should listen to his warning. That wolf had been on the edge lately because he was still single until now. Strange how he can convince people so easily, but he can’t even lure a lady to mate with him."
"Haha! Did Tito say they will attend this year’s mating season?" asked Silas with a loud laugh. "Aside from Reks and Edge, almost all members of his pack, including the Alpha, are single. Poor guys."
"Even if they do, no one will attend. All they know is to scare everyone. They should give up." Tomas commented before chugging his drink. "Even though Toby’s face can get all the girls, it’s not enough to salvage the others."
Garrett shook his head when the three of them laughed at the unfortunate reality of the members of the mad wolf pack led by the Alpha, Tito. Apparently, most of them were still single. Although it was mostly because they were a bunch of ’misfits’ and scared ladies away even before they could speak, it was also because the mad wolf pack helped Ronmin in securing their lands.
In the past thirty years, the werewolves had been planting more trees and taking care of the country. Now, in the present time, Ronmin was literally a hidden kingdom tribe in the middle of a vast forest. The royal family doesn’t live in the ruined castle anymore but stayed amongst the common citizen.
A lot had changed in Ronmin, which used to be a great empire. Even after thirty years, everyone was still adjusting, but the werewolves planned to continue this life and figure things out along the way.
