True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 302: What do you know?
The moment I looked over the railings of the balcony, the corners of Sven’s lips stretched from ear to ear. He waved at me as if we were close friends while my face contorted. I looked around on instinct to see if anyone was around. To my relief, no one was there.
But when I set my eyes back to him, my brows furrowed. Sven was stretching his legs, lowering his body with his palms on his thigh. And before I could think what he was doing, he gestured to me to move away, which I instinctively did when I saw him jump.
It wasn’t new to us vampires to jump higher than humans could ever. Since Sven was a werewolf, this height wasn’t a problem.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, cautiously, staring at the man squatting on the railing as soon as he landed on this balcony. When he raised his head at me, he grinned.
"To chat."
"Get out." I pointed my finger to the side as my voice shook in anger. "Get out of here."
"Huh? Why?" he frowned and cocked his head to the side.
"I don’t have spare energy for idle talk and this is my room," I stressed. "How dare you intrude in my room without my permission?"
Sven pressed his lips into a thin, tight slash. "Can I get your permission and let me stay?" he asked, rendering me speechless. "I’m already here and..." he glanced over the balcony before he looked back at me.
"... the height from here is scary. I might break a few of my bones if jumped from here."
"..."
Shameless. That were the words I failed to describe him earlier when I saw him having a feast on his own. How could he shamelessly ask for my permission now and lie right in front of my face when he jumped from the ground to the balcony without a problem?
"Come on. I’m harmless." Sven sat down leisurely on the balcony, slipping his hand inside his ragged clothes only to take out a beef jerky! "I just want to check on you since you don’t seem well when you left the dining hall. I’m concerned since you’re my savior."
"I’m not your savior. I abducted you," I corrected in dismay. "I don’t need you to check up on me. So you can now leave."
"Aish... so cold." He waved the beef jerky in his hand and snapped his tongue, not showing any sign of leaving. Watching him bite the beef jerky, I scoffed.
"Should I call for my knights before you leave me alone?"
"Please don’t do that! Your father is spoiling me so much! I don’t want him to hate me!" he gasped, showing the chewed food in his mouth. "I’m just concerned about you, that’s all."
"You don’t have to and just a piece of advice. Leave this place. You don’t fit in here and whatever His Grace offered you, don’t think it is out of the goodness of his heart." I huffed while clutching my hand. "Leave before I call for the knight."
I turned around to go back to my room. He could just jump from the balcony, so I didn’t need to indulge with him further. However, just when I was by the door, I halted at the words he spoke.
"What?" I turned around in disbelief, only to see him nonchalantly shrug.
"Come with me," he repeated casually. "You might find it strange since we’re basically strangers and this might appear like I’m asking you to elope with me, but come with me."
Sven planted his hands on the railings, swinging his feet back and forth, smiling. "If I’m going to leave, you should come."
"What..." for a moment, my mouth opened and closed, losing my voice from this sudden invitation. But when I covered my voice, my eyes darkened as I frowned.
"Insolent. I knew you’re already this shameless, but to think you will get ahead of yourself and think I will put up with you just because I granted you mercy once," came out a cold and angry voice, annoyed at the air of nonchalance that was coming out of his mouth.
"I’ll only repeat it once. Leave me alone. If you want to stay in the duchy, suit yourself. But don’t ever bother me." I warned, drawing the line between us before I turned to leave. More like to run away, but I halted once again when he replied.
"You bother me." I looked back with furrowed brows. "I came here because you bother me and won’t leave my mind."
"What...?"
Sven let out a deep exhale as his pair of russet eyes scrutinized me before they locked with mine. "You look like someone who is trapped. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be the knight in shining armor who wants to save a damsel in distress. I just..." he trailed off as he pondered on his words.
"I just thought you didn’t suit this place."
"What do you know?" my voice shook as my breathing grew ragged. I already knew I didn’t suit this place, and I had been wanting to leave. However, where would I go? This was the place I was born and raised and even if I win the title of the heir, I had always known I wouldn’t leave this place and travel the world.
"If you think just because we talked once or twice, you already know me or my circumstance, you don’t. You have no right to say whatever you want to me because you don’t have anything to do with my life until now."
"You’re right." He nodded and shrugged, raising his hands in surrender. "I’m just saying you don’t have to worry about me. You asked me to leave this place knowing what kind of place it is. How I am here again is all on me, and you shouldn’t beat yourself with that."
He flashed me a kind smile and winked. "I’ll meet your father and share a drink with him. Don’t worry, I won’t be asking for your hand in marriage. I’ll come back when you calmed down." He didn’t wait for me to answer as he already jumped out of the balcony.
And just like that, I was left alone standing on the balcony.
