Chapter 105: Run it’s the police

"You didn’t have to protect me. Now I might get bullied more," Aric said once Domino left.

"I would like to see them try," Gopher replied with a humph.

"I know you registered yourself as the protector of mine, but I have read the rules. You are not allowed to use abilities inside. Once you cross that line, I will definitely be expelled, and you might be executed or exiled," Aric said, as he had already read the do’s and don’ts of the school.

"Hmph." Gopher didn’t reply to that and walked while the other two siblings chose to be silent. It was better to stay away when Gopher was in a bad mood. Aric could only sigh.

It didn’t take long for Aric to settle at the place and then ask Gopher to find a place for himself in the nearest city and start his business.

"You should visit the library, and though you will not be allowed to start your magic training, you can get a general idea of how the magic works here," Gopher gave him that advice before leaving while Aric promised to visit them in a few days.

"Yaaawwwnn... What a long day..." Aric closed the door, and his eyes got a bit heavy. It was a long journey. "I will go to Grandma’s home and sleep."

Earth.

"Where were you all this time? We were worried about you," Grandmother was a bit angry seeing their grandson reach home late.

"It’s fine, Grandma. I was researching for my school," Aric lied right through the teeth.

"I don’t know what happened to your mother either. She doesn’t try to control you. I will have to talk with her," Grandma said, being quite disappointed with how their children were turning out to be. Irresponsible.

"Aha... Leave it... Our grandson might be tired. Give him something to eat," Grandfather came to settle and calm the situation. The talk of food made his wife happy and went to the kitchen to bring food for their favorite grandson. This made Aric and his grandfather feel relieved, and thus they started talking about how he was and how was his preparation for exams.

As they were talking, they suddenly heard a knocking at the door. It was in the evening, so they were confused about who had arrived so late, but Aric went instead to open the door because he knew who had arrived. Mira had already told a few seconds before the knock.

"Is this the house of Narayan More?" Those were the first words Aric got to hear after he opened the door. There were two men standing at the door wearing khaki-colored uniforms with black stripes on the shoulders. The uniform looked a bit worn out due to regular washing.

Both of the men had unkempt mustaches and their pot bellies hanging out of their worn-out belts and shirts. Aric knew who these people were. Actually, everyone in the whole country knew who they were, and they were always the harbinger of bad news.

The police.

If it’s not known, the Indian Police aren’t exactly known for their honesty and service to the public. Though over the years, the Indian Police had done their best to repair their image, the tags of corruption and being used by politicians were always there on the face of them. The only reason why the Indian Police wasn’t known around the world like the American or the French Police, it was because Indian Police didn’t carry guns, and they weren’t allowed to shoot.

At least publicly, they were never allowed. Aric knew about their arrival because Mira had already whispered in his ears. He was a bit confused about their arrival, though, because from what he could remember, he hadn’t put a foot wrong anywhere. He had allowed Mira to trade, but it was done in a very legal way. Mira even made sure to show that the stocks he was trading didn’t always make profits and did some deliberate mistakes along the way to make it more humane.

Over the past year, his wealth had grown significantly since the capital he had allowed Aric to do bigger trade. (A/N: I have no idea of stock trading, so don’t come at me for the use of wrong words.) But Aric wasn’t that bothered or scared like any other person in the country would be if a Police had shown up in the house. Not for himself and neither for his parents or grandparents.

"Yes, this is the house of my grandpa," Aric replied with equal confidence. The policeman didn’t seem to expect such confidence from a young teenager in front of the police. The uniform didn’t intimidate Aric at all.

"I am looking for Aric More," the policeman said.

"You are talking to him," Aric replied. But this time, he was really confused. Not because they came looking for him, but because they came looking for him in his grandparents’ place. This meant the police were aware of his move. This was after the fact that Aric had made sure that he couldn’t be tracked through his cheap mobile phone. This was something serious.

"You are Aric More?" The policeman was surprised that this young lad was supposed to be the one they came here for.

"Who is it, Aric? I..." came the shout from his grandfather from behind, only to be stopped right in his tracks when he saw the two policemen.

"Officer, is there any problem?" His grandfather had worked in CID before, so he could be partially called a police officer, and so he wasn’t as intimidated as most of the people in the country were.

"You are Narayan More, I presume. We are here to take your grandson, Aric More, into custody for beating up and wounding a classmate of his," the police officer said.

"That is an utter load of crap. Our grandson would never do such a thing, and he has never even raised a finger against any animal, forget about a human being. Show me the warrant," his grandfather said.
