Ultimate Check-in System-Chapter 48: Aura Manipulation
After Tyler returned to his room, he walked up to the table and picked up a small chip.
He placed the chip on the side of his head and asked.
"Ace, have you finished recording all the data?"
"Sir, data has been recorded!"
"I have found information on the Astral Continent, Six Major Countries, Four Minor Countries, Hunter System, Hunter Association, Runes, Formations, Outbreak Predictions, and even some secret information on mines."
Hearing the report, Tyler was genuinely surprised.
"Wow! That’s a lot of data. So, for now, let’s just start with Hunter System. What can you tell me about the Fifth Rank?"
"Fifth Rank, also known as Intermediate Rank, is considered a mark of a successful hunter."
"Out of ten million registered hunters, less than a million have reached Fifth Rank, as it is considered the main military force of any organization."
"Fifth Rank hunters have a considerable control over their Aura, allowing them to paralyze the weaker opponent with just the release of their Aura."
"They can also condense and control Aura into shapes and projectiles. In the hands of a Fifth Rank hunter, Aura can become a fortified armor."
"That being said, Fifth Rank Hunter only has five times more Aura than fourth rank, forcing the hunter to use Aura more carefully."
Hearing that, Tyler raised his eyebrows. He didn’t expect Aura could do things like that.
He knew Aura could be transformed into skills and use them to manipulate the skills. But he never thought Aura could also be used as a skill.
Armor, weapons, and projectiles were also just the shapes and forms of Aura Manipulation.
Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but ask.
"Ace, is there some sort of training method for Aura Manipulation? Can I do this stuff at Fifth Rank?"
"While there isn’t any training method for Aura Manipulation. There have been several cases where a Fourth Rank hunter can use Aura Manipulation."
"It will be severely restricted as even a Fifth Rank hunter can’t maintain Aura weapons and armors for long."
"Is that so?"
Tyler nodded his head.
He understood this situation. Aura was limited, and lower-ranking hunters had a lower reserve of Aura.
One of the differences between the fourth and fifth ranks was five times the Aura.
Currently, he has enough Aura to use just his Aura for skills dozens of times.
But considering the amount of Aura required to form a weapon or construct, that would be massive.
’I can try, though. If I can manage it, my Aura control will improve significantly.’
’Although we do get innate Aura control upon reaching Fourth Rank, it wouldn’t matter if it gets better, right?’
He turned around and asked.
"Misaka, can you teach me Aura Manipulation?"
"Again!"
Misaka showed a helpless smile and said.
"Sir, have you ever thought that these ranks help not only to represent one’s power but also risks and disadvantages?"
Tyler contemplated her words for a while and replied.
"Do you mean if I practice Aura Manipulation, my vitality will be at risk?"
"Not just vitality, your mental state as well! Aura is derived from mental and physical energy. A deficiency in one of them can cause severe problems, much less two."
"If you practice Aura Manipulation at this stage, you will be forcefully extracting more Aura, in the name of strengthening your Reserve."
"But this action backfires because we don’t have the vitality and mental state of a thousand men."
"Perhaps son of a god could possess such talent, but not us.
Hearing that, a smirk appeared on his face.
"Maybe I am not a son of the god, but I do have a god given talent of having something that I need at the moment."
He took out a potion from the inventory and said.
"This is a Full Body Recovery Potion. Taking one will help you recover from your exhaustion. I have three of these. So, do you still think I shouldn’t practice it?"
Hearing this, Misaka was surprised but showed a helpless expression.
"Sir, have you ever considered it’s okay to go slow? You don’t have to be superior to others in everything."
"Those with such mentality will either become a tyrant or work themselves to the point where they will have no family or friends."
Her words stung him.
He never thought of becoming a tyrant, more so, distancing himself from his loved ones.
He had barely gained a few in this world. How could he even think of distancing himself from them?
But then he thought about her words, and it made a lot of sense.
Even the best of the emperors and kings would rely on his loyal subordinates to rule their nation.
"You are right. Thank you, Misaka!"
He walked up to her, hugged her, and returned to his chair.
As he sat down, he asked.
"Let John inform the execution of the criminal. We will announce Khalim’s death a week from now."
Hearing his words, Misaka nodded but paused.
"Sir, is it okay if I confirm this again? Why are we trying to clear the name of a heinous criminal like Khalim?"
"Because we need hunters, strong hunters. Do you feel Rose’s strength?" Tyler asked.
"Yes, if I have to give a rough estimation, her Aura has grown three times while her rank has remained the same."
Misaka replied.
"That’s the thing. She had several tough battles, which helped her gain more experience, which increased her mental energy."
"Because she was constantly eating those monsters’ meat, her physical energy was also growing significantly, giving her a huge Aura boost."
"But do you know what affected her the most? It’s her Willpower to fight those monsters."
"If she had remained here like a coward, she wouldn’t have grown so much. Khalim is the prime example for this."
"If he had stepped up for the challenge during my test, he would’ve become a hunter. He wouldn’t stoop so low to commit such a heinous crime."
"Remember his words in prison. Even facing death, he kept denying his connection with his family, going as far as cursing them."
"But you and I both know what he said isn’t what he meant. That’s why courage is so important."
"If he hadn’t done that, I wouldn’t have thought so much of his family. I believe hiding his identity is a better move."
"We have a woman who wants her child to grow up happily despite losing her father. This will propel her to work hard."
"I want her to become a hunter because this way, she will do her best to gain more reputation for her family."
"Remember, she is now Mira Tenshi. When she married Khalim, she took his surname. For that surname, for her daughter’s future, she had no choice but to work hard."
"And that’s what I need from my hunters. Someone who is willing to put a lot of effort."
"Our abilities stem from our desire and dream. Our mental energy can be empowered by our willpower."
"Our physical energy can be increased through rigorous training. No matter how you look at it, our desire to grow stronger is the fuel for our strength."
"I can provide them with ideas, Natural Fruits, and even sparring partners, but I can’t provide them the desire for strength. I can only guide them."
Hearing his words, Misaka helplessly sighed.
"I underestimated you, sir. You are indeed the boss."
Tyler burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! That’s right. I am your boss. Now, I am asking you to do your job."
Misaka rolled her eyes and left the room.
While working on several documents, Tyler felt a strange feeling in his heart.
Tyler stood up from his chair, walking towards the window as he felt uneasy in his heart.
’What’s with this feeling? Why am I feeling so negative so suddenly?’
At this moment, he felt his Totem reacting violently. He directly made the mental connection with the Totem and entered the world of Totem.
This world was almost as big as his city.
In this world, he saw three creatures.
One of them was Fang, the Dragon.
Another was an ant, but his body was nearly the size of a tiger.
Finally, there was a human-like person with long ears.
He ignored Fang and Moko.
"Alex, was that you?"
Alex nodded his head and opened his mouth. Unlike Fang and Moko, he was capable of speech.
"I felt a great calamity heading towards you."
Tyler’s eyes widened in shock.
"What calamity?"
He shook his head and replied.
"I can’t see the future. I can only sense the destruction you are about to face. This is a calamity that could potentially ruin your life."
"That’s all I can find."
Tyler’s heartbeat soared. He never thought troubles would come knocking on his door so quickly.
’It seems like I can’t give her a promotion. I need to grow stronger.’
At this moment, Alex continued.
"Let me go out! When you created me, you bestowed me with divine knowledge. I will know that knowledge to protect your city."
