Chapter 74: Chapter 74 - Leaving Soon

The days of warmth and shared moments between Maya and Lucas came to an end when Lucas’s father finally returned home. Maya, who had grown comfortable in her position as the center of attention, felt a pang of disappointment. With his return, she knew things would change, though she didn’t expect just how much.

Lucas’s father arrived in the afternoon, his familiar presence immediately shifting the atmosphere of the house. He greeted Maya with a warm smile and a kiss on the cheek, a casual affection that seemed almost routine for them.

"Maya," he said warmly, setting his suitcase down by the door, "I missed you."

Maya smiled back, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "It’s good to have you back. The house has been quiet without you."

"And I see Lucas has been keeping you company," he said with a chuckle, glancing over at his son, who was loitering awkwardly near the kitchen doorway.

Lucas offered a tight smile but said nothing. He seemed different, quieter and more reserved than he’d been over the past few weeks. The easy, almost playful dynamic between him and Maya had vanished the moment his father stepped through the door.

That evening at dinner, Lucas’s father was his usual charismatic self, chatting animatedly about his trip and asking Maya about the house and how things had been in his absence. Maya played along, smiling and responding where appropriate, though she couldn’t help but glance at Lucas every now and then.

He barely touched his food, his gaze fixed firmly on his plate. The tension was palpable, though his father didn’t seem to notice.

After dinner, Lucas retreated to his room without a word, leaving Maya alone with his father. The older man stretched his legs out on the couch, patting the seat beside him. "Come, sit," he said with a grin. "Tell me everything I’ve missed."

Maya hesitated for a moment before joining him, their conversation flowing easily. She knew how to play her role well, laughing at his jokes and responding with just enough warmth to keep him engaged. But her mind kept wandering to Lucas, who was likely brooding upstairs.

When the night wound down, Maya followed Lucas’s father to their shared bedroom, leaving Lucas alone in his own room.

---

In his room, Lucas sat on his bed, staring at the wall. The house, which had felt alive and warm in his father’s absence, now seemed stifling. The laughter and easy camaraderie he’d shared with Maya were gone, replaced by an awkward distance that he couldn’t bridge.

As he sat in silence, the system’s voice chimed in, its tone as mocking as ever.

[System: No unholy moments tonight? You’ve really fallen off, haven’t you?]

Lucas scowled, throwing himself back onto the bed. "Shut up," he muttered under his breath.

[System: What’s the matter? Daddy’s home, and now you’re scared? Or is it Maya who’s scared?]

Lucas clenched his jaw, refusing to engage.

[System: Come on, admit it. Things were getting interesting before he came back. Now you’re just sitting here like a sulking child. It’s pathetic.]

"Go away," Lucas hissed, pulling a pillow over his head as if that would drown out the voice.

[System: Fine, fine. I’ll leave you to your misery. But don’t blame me when things spiral out of control. You’re the one who’s too scared to act.]

The voice faded, leaving Lucas in the oppressive silence of his room. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. The system was right about one thing: things had been simpler before his father came back. Now, everything felt off balance, and Lucas didn’t know how to fix it.

He rolled over, staring at the faint glow of the streetlight filtering through his window. Sleep wouldn’t come easily tonight, but then again, it never did when Maya wasn’t on the other side of the wall.

Lucas lay on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as the weight of the day’s awkwardness pressed down on him. The suffocating presence of his father, Maya’s distant demeanor, and the overall tension in the house left him drained. Just as he closed his eyes, hoping to escape his thoughts, the system chimed in with its usual smug tone.

[Reminder: Cum on Cindy’s Feet is incomplete. Time Remaining: 3 Days, 23 Hours, 42 Minutes.]

Lucas shot upright, his eyes wide in panic. "FUCK..." he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. He had almost completely forgotten about the utterly ridiculous—and humiliating—quest assigned to him earlier in the week.

[Don’t act so surprised. You knew this was coming. Tick-tock, Lucas. Time’s running out, and failure means... well, let’s just say you’ll be making a very awkward visit to a plastic surgeon.]

Lucas groaned, burying his face in his hands. He didn’t need the system to remind him of the punishment: if he failed the quest, his nose would transform into the shape of a penis for a week. A literal penis. The sheer humiliation was enough to make his stomach churn.

The next morning, Lucas joined his father and Maya for breakfast. The air was thick with unspoken tension, though Lucas tried his best to act normal. His father chatted away, discussing his plans for the week, completely oblivious to the storm brewing in Lucas’s head.

Maya, on the other hand, seemed quieter than usual, occasionally glancing at Lucas but saying little. Her normally bright and teasing demeanor had dulled, and Lucas could feel the weight of her unspoken thoughts pressing down on him.

As the meal wrapped up, Lucas cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "Dad, Mom... I just wanted to let you know I’ll be heading back to Brightville the morning after tomorrow."

The announcement landed like a hammer on the table. Maya’s head snapped up, her eyes wide with surprise. "You’re leaving? So soon?"

Lucas nodded, keeping his tone calm and casual. "Yeah, there are some things I need to take care of back there. Lena’s just started college, and I think she might need some help settling in."

Maya frowned, her disappointment evident. "You’ve been here barely two weeks. Can’t it wait? I mean... everything’s been fine here. Do you really have to go?"

Before Lucas could respond, his father cut in. "What about me?" he asked, leaning back in his chair with a wry smile. "You don’t miss spending time with your old man? We barely get to see each other these days."

Lucas hesitated, feeling the weight of both their gazes. "It’s not that I don’t want to stay," he said carefully. "I just have responsibilities back in Brightville. And Lena... she might need me."
