Ultimate Spin System: Ero Spin?-Chapter 90 - Where’s the system?
Lucas’s excitement hadn’t faded even after they got their new outfits. He couldn’t help but glance around, absorbing every little detail of Raventhorn. The energy, the sounds, the sheer life of the city—it was everything he had imagined from a fantasy world.
Lena, however, remained wary. She kept her hood up, her sharp gaze scanning the crowd for potential threats. "Alright, now what?" she asked, looking at Aurelia.
Aurelia folded her arms, her smirk still present. "You need to start figuring out how to make money. You can’t just rely on me forever."
Lucas’s interest piqued. "Any suggestions?"
Aurelia nodded toward a large stone building at the end of the street, its entrance marked by a massive wooden sign with crossed swords. The symbol was unmistakable.
"The Adventurer’s Guild," she said. "It’s the fastest way to make a living if you’ve got the skills."
Lucas practically lit up. "A guild? Like, quests and monster hunting and all that?"
Elira chuckled at his enthusiasm. "Pretty much."
Darius cracked his knuckles. "It’s not just about monster hunting. Some people take escort jobs, exploration quests, or even material gathering. If you’re good, you can make a name for yourself."
Varian finally spoke, his voice low and unreadable. "If you’re weak, you die."
Lucas swallowed. "Noted."
Aurelia sighed. "You two might want to start small. No one’s going to trust a couple of clueless outsiders with real quests right away. But if you register, at least you’ll have an option."
Lena nodded slowly. "Fine. It’s better than wandering around aimlessly."
With that, they made their way toward the Adventurer’s Guild.
---
The moment they stepped inside, Lucas felt like he’d entered an entirely different world.
The guild was bustling with activity. Adventurers of all kinds filled the massive hall—some sitting at wooden tables discussing jobs, others checking the quest board, and a few already arguing over rewards. The scent of ale, sweat, and metal mixed in the air, giving the place a rugged, no-nonsense atmosphere.
Behind the front counter stood a woman with glasses, her brown hair tied in a neat bun. Despite her professional look, the moment she saw Aurelia, she raised an unimpressed eyebrow.
"Aurelia," she sighed. "What have you brought me this time?"
"Two new applicants," Aurelia said casually, pushing Lucas and Lena forward.
The receptionist gave them a skeptical once-over. "They don’t look like fighters."
Lucas puffed out his chest. "Looks can be deceiving."
The woman ignored him and turned to Lena. "And you?"
Lena shrugged. "We’re here to register."
The receptionist exhaled, already looking exhausted. "Fine. Names?"
"Lucas."
"Lena."
She scribbled something onto a parchment before reaching under the counter and pulling out two metal plates—one for each of them. "These are your beginner identification tags. You’re both ranked ’Bronze,’ which means you can only take low-risk jobs for now."
Lucas frowned. "How do we rank up?"
The receptionist adjusted her glasses. "By completing enough quests and proving your capability. Higher ranks grant access to better rewards but also deadlier missions. Understood?"
Lucas nodded eagerly. "Got it."
Lena took her tag, inspecting the engraving. "And what kind of jobs can we take right now?"
The receptionist pointed to a section of the quest board labeled "Bronze Rank." "Mostly delivery requests, gathering herbs, and the occasional pest control."
Lucas deflated slightly. "No dungeons? No epic battles?"
Aurelia smirked. "Not unless you want to be the next poor fool who gets eaten by a goblin."
Lucas shuddered. "Okay. Point taken."
Darius chuckled, crossing his arms. "I’ll give you two some advice—don’t bite off more than you can chew. Get some experience first."
Varian scoffed. "If they survive."
Elira smiled at them reassuringly. "Good luck, you two. And remember, the guild doesn’t babysit."
With that, the group left them to their own devices.
Lucas turned to Lena, grinning. "Alright. Let’s pick our first quest."
Lena sighed. "Just don’t get us killed."
Lucas walked up to the quest board, his heart pounding with excitement.
Their new life as adventurers was just beginning.
Lucas scanned the Bronze Rank section of the quest board, his eyes flicking over various requests. Most were mundane: delivering letters, helping with construction, pest control for oversized rats.
Then, one caught his eye.
Quest: Herb Gathering
Client: Raventhorn Apothecary
Objective: Gather 10 bundles of Moonshade Leaves
Location: Whispering Grove (1-hour walk south of the city)
Reward: 1 Gold, 2 Silver
Restrictions: Must be completed within a day
Lucas turned to Lena, holding up the parchment. "This one looks doable."
Lena skimmed the details, then nodded. "Better than killing giant rats."
They approached the receptionist again. She took the quest slip, stamped it with an official seal, and handed it back. "Accepted. If you don’t return by sundown, it’ll be marked as a failure."
Lucas grinned. "Got it."
"Before you go," the receptionist added, reaching under the counter, "this is what a Moonshade Leaf looks like."
She placed a small wooden box on the counter. Inside was a single dried leaf, deep purple in color, with silver veins running through it. The edges were slightly curled, and as Lucas picked it up, he noticed a faint, herbal scent—earthy with a hint of mint.
"These only grow in shaded areas, usually near the base of large trees," the receptionist explained. "Whispering Grove has plenty, but watch out—wild animals roam the area."
Lena narrowed her eyes. "What kind of animals?"
"Mostly wolves and boars. They won’t bother you unless you’re careless."
Lucas gulped. "Noted."
Aurelia, who had been watching from the side, smirked. "Good choice. Simple enough, but still a good test."
Lucas pocketed the quest slip and turned to Lena. "Guess we’re heading south."
Lena adjusted her coat. "Let’s get this over with."
With their objective clear, they left the Adventurer’s Guild and set off toward Whispering Grove.
---
Whispering Grove
The journey took about an hour, just as the quest slip had mentioned. The path led them through rolling fields and small clusters of trees before the landscape shifted into denser woodland. The moment they stepped beneath the thick canopy of Whispering Grove, the air grew cooler, and a gentle mist lingered between the trees.
Sunlight barely pierced through the leaves, creating long shadows that danced with the rustling of branches. The sound of chirping insects and distant animal calls filled the silence.
Lucas let out a low whistle. "Feels like we stepped into a storybook."
Lena, ever cautious, kept her eyes scanning their surroundings. "Stay focused. We need ten bundles, so let’s not waste time."
Lucas pulled out the sample leaf they had received from the guild and compared it to the plants around them. After a few minutes of searching, he finally spotted a cluster of purple leaves growing near the base of an old oak tree.
"Bingo." He knelt down, carefully plucking a handful. The leaves were soft and slightly waxy to the touch, their silver veins shimmering faintly under the dim light.
Lena crouched beside him, quickly gathering another set. "Eight more bundles to go."
The two worked efficiently, moving between trees and keeping a steady pace. Each time they found a new patch, Lucas would double-check to make sure they had the right plant before picking.
As they reached their eighth bundle, a rustling sound from nearby made them freeze.
Lucas slowly turned his head.
A pair of yellow eyes glowed from the underbrush.
A low growl followed.
"Wolves," Lena muttered.
Lucas swallowed. "Fantastic."
The creature stepped out of the shadows—a large, dark-furred wolf, its muscles tensed and ears alert. It wasn’t alone. Another emerged from the brush, then a third.
Lena tightened her grip on the small hunting knife she carried. "We’re not finished gathering. What’s the plan?"
Lucas forced a grin. "Run or fight?"
The wolves bared their fangs.
Looks like they didn’t have a choice.
The wolves stood there for a tense moment, their yellow eyes locked onto Lucas and Lena. Their growls rumbled through the grove, sending a shiver down Lucas’s spine. He slowly reached for the small knife at his waist, his mind racing with escape routes.
Then, without warning, the lead wolf’s ears twitched. It sniffed the air once—twice—before turning its head sharply toward the deeper parts of the forest.
With a final glance at the two humans, the wolves silently slipped back into the shadows.
Lucas let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. "Okay... What just happened?"
Lena, still holding her knife in a tight grip, watched the wolves disappear with narrowed eyes. "I don’t know. But let’s not question it. Just finish the job."
Lucas wasn’t convinced. Wild animals didn’t just leave unless something bigger was out there. His gut told him they weren’t alone in Whispering Grove. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
But Lena had a point—they still had two more bundles to collect.
"Right. Let’s wrap this up."
They moved cautiously, keeping an ear out for any further disturbances. The last few bundles of Moonshade Leaves were harder to find, hidden deeper in the underbrush. Lucas crouched down, parting some tangled branches as he searched.
Then, his eyes drifted sideways.
Lena was ahead of him, bent over as she carefully plucked herbs from a low bush. Her coat had shifted slightly, her fitted trousers hugging her figure as she worked. The position made certain... curves more prominent.
Lucas swallowed, immediately tearing his gaze away.
Damn it, focus, man.
He mentally scolded himself. This was not the time to let his thoughts wander.
Still, he couldn’t deny that Lena had a surprisingly nice—
Nope. Not going there.
Lucas shook his head, forcing his mind back on track. He reached out and grabbed another bundle of Moonshade Leaves, stuffing it into his pouch.
Then, as if to jolt him further out of his wandering thoughts, another realization hit him.
His sarcastic system, it still not pop up again since him arrived in isekai.
