Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 321: Clingy Pomelo
Jude didn’t mind Keith Hughes’s touch; his hands were warm, with a fatherly feel.
If possible, he naturally hoped Desmond Fairchild and Seraphina Sinclair could be together, but that seems unlikely now.
Since that’s the case, pairing Keith Hughes and Seraphina Sinclair together is also a good choice.
Looking back, he was always playing matchmaker for his mom, busying himself over her lifelong happiness.
Over the next few days, Pomelo and Jude were inseparable, their relationship as close as conjoined twins.
No matter where Jude went, he always brought Pomelo, and Pomelo, like a little tail, constantly followed Jude.
In every corridor of the hospital, Pomelo’s sweet calling of "Brother Jude" could be heard.
Jude also adored this little sister who appeared out of nowhere, granting nearly all her requests, never breaking his word as long as he could fulfill them.
"Brother, can you stay at the hospital with me tonight? Uncle Hughes gave me several fairy tale books recently; could you read them to me?" Pomelo looked at Jude expectantly with her bright, watery eyes.
These days spent together made her grow fond of Jude, always wishing she could stick beside him.
But Jude had to attend school, so he usually went home at night and returned to the hospital in the afternoon.
A day felt neither long nor short to Pomelo, yet for her, it was akin to an eternity. While Seraphina and others kept her company in the hospital, she still preferred playing with peers her age.
Pomelo was very insecure; every time Jude was slightly late, she would start overthinking, fearing Jude no longer liked her.
She was really scared, scared that one day, Jude would abandon her just like her parents did.
Seeing all this, Seraphina knew not what to do.
She thought allowing Jude to stay by Pomelo’s side was a good choice, but now it seemed not entirely right.
Lacking security and overly depending on Jude was not beneficial for Pomelo’s future growth.
Jude wished to spend more time with Pomelo, but staying overnight at the hospital required Seraphina’s approval.
He gently reassured, "I’ll ask Mommy about it, see what she says; if she lets me stay, I’ll stay here with you, okay?"
Pomelo nodded obediently, her big eyes blinking: "Mmm, I’ll listen to Brother."
When Pomelo used her pitiful eyes on Seraphina, Seraphina knew she was done for.
Such an adorable little girl, and so good at acting coy, what could she do? 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Letting Brother Jude stay at the hospital with you isn’t impossible, but you must sleep before eleven," Seraphina said helplessly, seeing how sticky this child was.
Getting Seraphina’s approval, Pomelo nearly jumped with joy, rushing over to hug Seraphina’s leg, smiling gleefully: "Thank you, Auntie! I knew Auntie is the best!"
Her praise was appreciated by Amy Sinclair, who lovingly ruffled Pomelo’s head, a gentle look in her eyes: "You little girl, I don’t know what to do with you; go play now."
"Thank you, Auntie," Pomelo laughed sweetly and disappeared from Seraphina’s sight, while Jude, worried for her safety, naturally followed.
After the two little ones left, Fiona Dunn couldn’t help but shake her head: "Seraphina, you’re truly spoiling them too much; it’s not good to continue like this. My mom always said, love the kids but don’t overindulge; what you’re doing now is complete indulgence."
"Pomelo’s life is so tragic; I can’t bring myself to speak harshly to her." Seraphina, being a mother herself, understood Fiona’s logic, yet she couldn’t bring herself to say anything harsh when faced with Pomelo’s little face.
"You’re right, but we can’t pamper Pomelo too much either. It’s not good for the child; if she develops a spoiled personality, it’d be terrible," Fiona stated righteously.
Speaking of spoiled, Seraphina glanced at Fiona casually: "Even if spoiled, I doubt it’d compare to you, so your words lack conviction."
Fiona grinned sheepishly: "I don’t think I’m that spoiled, hehe."
"By the way, how are things between you and Joel White lately? You got drunk at a bar over him last time; have you reconciled?" Seraphina didn’t initially want to pry into Fiona’s affairs.
But seeing Fiona’s improved mood recently, she couldn’t help but ask.
Upon hearing about Joel, Fiona’s face immediately turned sour: "We’re perfectly fine, nothing for you to worry about."
"Really?" Fiona’s expression said it all; Seraphina knew their situation might not be great but didn’t press further.
What Joel truly thought remained unknown to Seraphina, who stepped in as a godmother.
Fiona truly was a good girl; though somewhat willful, she was kind-hearted and well-known, matching Joel well.
She didn’t understand what Sharon worried about, persistently keeping Fiona at arm’s length.
Yet Fiona was unwaveringly devoted to Joel, and it was hard to pinpoint when she became deeply infatuated with him.
Joel told her there was no chance between them, which was undeniably devastating for Fiona.
"Seraphina, do you think I really don’t deserve Joel? I’ve done so much for him; why does he keep pushing me away? Doesn’t he feel even a bit of affection for me?" Fiona questioned, unable to comprehend. Just remembering Joel’s cold gaze pained her immensely.
Despite trying hard to get close to him, why was it always like this?
Could it be she wasn’t good enough?
"Don’t think too much about it; it’s not your fault. I’ll talk to Joel about your situation when I see him," Seraphina patted Fiona’s shoulder, signaling her not to be sad.
"No need to worry about us; focus on your lifelong happiness. Jude can’t go without a father forever; how about you and Desmond Fairchild..."
As soon as Fiona mentioned Desmond, Seraphina shot her a warning glance: "Don’t mention him in front of me."
Fiona flinched at her stern look, stammering: "Are you really over with him? You wouldn’t actually hand him over to someone like Nina Kerr, would you? From my observation, Desmond still has lingering feelings for you; he’s been dedicated, running between company and hospital daily, likely without proper rest."
