Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 160: Getting Master a new boyfriend
Chapter 160: Getting Master a new boyfriend
"The Die clan was trafficking women. Someone intercepted their shipment, and there was a bloodbath," the Chief said.
Peng Xiu took a long drag of her cigarette, her mind racing. "No, I didn’t know. I can make it up to you," she replied, trying to speak in code.
"Find out if Han Xin knew about it. Maybe we can finally nail this bastard," the Chief instructed.
"Okay, I will come visit soon and bring you some cake, goodnight," she said before hanging up the call. She finished her cigarette, her thoughts troubled. When she first joined the Triads five years ago, she might have believed Han Xin was involved in such crimes.
But after getting closer to him over the years, she realized he wasn’t like that. Han Xin was a good person, and she was certain he had nothing to do with this. Returning inside, she noticed he hadn’t come back. Concerned, she went looking for him, her mind a whirl of conflicting emotions.

Xiang Yu took them to the car he had parked discreetly atop the small hill. Lian and Mei, their eyes wide with wonder, gazed at the car as if it were a magical golden chariot. It was their first time seeing one, and though their excitement was palpable, their frail bodies betrayed them.
"Get in the back," Xiang Yu instructed gently, opening the door for them. He clipped their seat belts carefully making sure they were secure. "I will take you to the doctor first, and then we can get you something to eat, okay?"
The girls nodded, their heads bobbing like delicate flowers in the breeze. They leaned back into the seats, the soft leather cradling them in a cocoon of safety and comfort. Xiang Yu closed the door quietly, his eyes scanning the horizon. The distant wail of sirens reached his ears. It was probably the police driving up to the port. He knew he had to get out of here quickly.
He placed the duffle bag in the trunk, its weight a silent testament to his crimes. With a final glance at the hilltop, he slid into the driver’s seat and started the car, the headlights cutting through the darkness as they sped away.

In a dimly lit office, the Die clan patriarch’s rage was palpable. The room bore the brunt of his fury, with shattered glass and overturned furniture scattered like the remnants of a storm. His face was a mask of barely contained wrath, veins throbbing at his temples.
"Who betrayed me?" he roared, his voice echoing off the walls. "Who had the guts to attack me on my turf?"
He knew the police might link the chaos to his operations but that wasn’t his biggest concern. Trafficking was a breach of the code that governed their world. This meant that the Dragon Head’s enforcer would surely come knocking at his door, demanding answers. But before that, he needed to find the traitor; otherwise, it would be incredibly hard to do that while his every move was being watched.
"Die Wenjie!" he bellowed. The door creaked open, revealing a trembling figure. "Get me the surveillance footage. Now!"
"Yes, Father," Die Wenjie stammered, retreating hastily. The door had barely closed when a vase shattered against it, the patriarch’s fury unquenched.

In an underground clinic, Xiang Yu watched as the old doctor, known as Old Song, adjusted the IV drips attached to Lian and Mei. The sterile smell of antiseptic filled the air, mingling with the faint scent of medicinal herbs. Old Song was friends with Xiang Yu’s late father so he held some affection for him.
His white coat pockets bulging with instruments, he turned to Xiang Yu and gestured for him to follow him outside. As soon as he closed the door the old man’s brows furrowed. "Yu-er, what is up with those girls?"
"I rescued them," Xiang Yu replied, his voice steady. "I couldn’t leave them there." frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Rescued them from who?" asked Old Song his eyes narrowed. "Did you provoke someone?... When your father died, I was glad you stayed away from his business. But now... are you involving yourself again?"
Xiang Yu shook his head, a reassuring smile on his lips. "You worry too much, Grandpa Song. I didn’t rescue them from anyone I can’t handle."
The old man sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly. "Fine. Feed them bland food for a while and keep them hydrated. They should stay overnight, just in case."
"Thank you, Old Song," Xiang Yu said, gratitude evident in his tone. "I will go buy the food. Is there a place you recommend?"
"Go by Granny Wan’s stall," Old Song suggested. "She has the best congee."
He left the clinic, and when he returned, the aroma of freshly cooked congee wafted from the plastic bags he was carrying, filling the small clinic. The dimly lit hallway echoed with his footsteps as he made his way to Old Song’s office. The old doctor looked up from his desk, a warm smile spreading across his face as Xiang Yu handed him a bowl.
"Thank you, Yu-er. You are always good to this old man," Old Song said, accepting the congee with a nod of gratitude. Xiang Yu smiled before heading out.
In the patient room, he set the remaining bags on the bedside table. "You guys should sit up," he said gently, his eyes filled with concern. "Does it hurt?"
Lian, ever the brave one, shook her head. "It doesn’t hurt at all, Master."
Mei, however, pouted, her eyes still glistening with tears. "It hurts a little. When can I take it off?" She had cried when she saw that needle and refused for it to come near her.
It took some coaxing for her to stay still. As for Lian, she was as tough as steel and even asked the old man if he was done. She felt nothing at all.
Xiang Yu’s heart ached at the sight of Mei’s distress. "Just wait for the drip to finish," he replied, placing the bowls of congee on the small tables before them. The delicious scent of chicken rice congee filled the room, momentarily distracting Mei from her discomfort.
"Thank you, Master," Mei said, her voice softening as she inhaled the savoury aroma.
"It looks yummy," Lian added, her eyes brightening.
Xiang Yu smiled, taking a seat next to them. He opened his bowl of congee and began to eat, savouring the rich flavours. The room fell into a comfortable silence, the only sounds being the clinking of spoons against bowls and the occasional murmur of appreciation.
"Mmm, it’s soooo good," Mei said, her voice filled with delight.
Lian nodded, her eyes sparkling. "Everything about this world is better. The food is better, the lights are pretty."
Xiang Yu’s heart warmed at their happiness. "When you are all better, I will take you around. We can have a lot of fun while we are here."
The twins seemed to love that idea, their faces lighting up with excitement. But then, Lian’s expression turned serious. "Master, so you are really going to stay away from Han Xin?"
Mei quickly whispered, "Stop asking, Lian." It was a sensitive topic for Xiang Yu, and they both knew it.
Xiang Yu pursed his lips, the weight of the question hanging in the air. After a moment, he said, "We have to listen to the Divine Emperor. We aren’t here to mess around. The sooner we are done, the better."
Lian and Mei’s faces fell, their earlier joy dimming. They had hoped their master and Han Xin would truly be together. Trying to lift his spirits, Lian suddenly said, "Master, we can get you a new boyfriend. There are plenty of fish in the sea."
Xiang Yu chuckled softly, appreciating their attempt to cheer him up. "Thank you, Lian. But for now, let’s focus on getting you both better." The twins nodded, their spirits lifting slightly as they continued to eat.
