Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 578: Xin-ge
Chapter 578: Xin-ge
Overseer Kira leaned back in her luxurious seat, the rich fabric cradling her as she arched an eyebrow. "What is it?" she asked, her voice smooth yet tinged with impatience.
The young woman before her trembled, the words catching in her throat. "My my Lord, it’s the res-research centre," she stammered, each syllable a battle against the oppressive atmosphere that surrounded Kira.
With a careless wave of her hand, Kira dismissed the young men who had been serving her. The men patiently stood on the side waiting for her orders.
"What research centre?" she demanded, her gaze sharp and unyielding.
The young woman felt Kira’s presence like a heavy weight pressing down on her. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her lips quivered.
Mustering her courage, she raised her hand, revealing the tablet she held. "The one near Neon City," she managed to say, her voice shaky. "It was attacked and burnt to the ground."
At that moment, Kira erupted into maniacal laughter, a sound that chilled the air. Her eyes glinted with malice, and the edges of her mouth twisted into a cruel smile. Without warning, she seized her wine glass and hurled it at the young woman.
The glass shattered against the wall, sending red liquid splattering everywhere. The young woman’s clothes were soaked in wine, the cold liquid mixing with her rising fear. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she stood frozen in shock.
Kira, still laughing, leaned forward, her voice low and dangerous. "Double the bounty. I want them dead and drag that bastard here."
The young woman nodded vigorously, her voice barely forming words. "Yes, my lord." In an instant, she turned and fled, her feet racing across the floor as if they were dipped in oil.
As soon as the door closed, the Overseer tapped the side of her head. A flicker of energy coursed through her as her features morphed, shifting seamlessly into those of another woman. The face staring back at her was that of Peng Xiu.
The moment Peng Xiu arrived in this new world, she had acted swiftly. With a deft hand, she had drugged and locked Overseer Kira in a hidden chamber. Now, she was free, and everything felt different. The hooded man had fulfilled his promise; he had returned her consciousness. Memories surged within her, raw and potent.
Her hatred for Xiang Yu burned brightly. She recalled the moments she was shunned by her beloved, the times when Han Xin had rejected her. Though the specifics of previous worlds eluded her, those emotions anchored her resolve. Laughter and warmth turned to ashes in her mouth.
All she knew now was a singular purpose, to torture Xiang Yu. Her mind twisted around the thought, a visceral need to cut his tendons and drain his blood. The violence of the act thrilled her. It was a desire that pulsed with every heartbeat.
And Han Xin? A grin spread across her face at the thought of him. She held a dagger, the blade glinting coldly as she imagined it buried deep in him. Since she could not claim him for herself, then no one else would have the chance. Her path was clear, and nothing would stand in her way. Defiance coursed through her veins like fire.
She sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. "Serve me," she commanded, her tone leaving no room for defiance. The men gathered around her, their features reminiscent of Han Xin, but they held no true resemblance. They exchanged knowing glances, then began to undress her, their hands exploring her skin with a frenzied urgency.
The air filled with ambiguous sounds, muffled moans and gasps rising and falling like a tide in the dimly lit room. Peng Xiu sat on the edge of a sturdy desk, her legs spread apart invitingly, a man kneeling before her. "Xin-ge," she called out, the sound of her voice sweet and sickly, echoing off the walls like a haunting melody.
Hours slipped by in a haze of pleasure and power. Eventually, she stepped out of the shower, water cascading down her body, leaving her damp and glistening. Wrapped in a robe, the lace underwear clung to her curves, hinting at the secrets beneath. She smirked at her reflection, satisfied with the game she played.
With a glass of Martini in hand, she walked confidently toward a door at the far end of the room. The liquid swirled in the glass, a rich amber hue catching the light. She opened a hidden door, revealing a stark room that felt cold in contrast to her heated indulgence.
Inside, like a forsaken relic, was a woman lying on a hospital bed. The sterile white sheets contrasted sharply with her ashen skin. The woman’s eyes were open, fixed on the ceiling, but they held no spark of life.
They were dull and lifeless, a haunting reminder of what Peng Xiu sought to claim for herself. Though the woman was still breathing, it was as if her soul had slipped away, leaving only a shell behind.
Peng Xiu walked softly across the room, the quiet hum of machines filling the air. They beeped steadily, a cold reminder of life suspended. She reached up and pushed aside a stray strand of hair stuck to her forehead, the gesture tender yet laced with darkness. The warmth of her touch seemed to enhance the chilling murder intent that tinged the atmosphere.
"Don’t worry, mother," Peng Xiu said, her voice smooth, almost soothing. "I will punish that traitor." Her smile widened, taking on a sinister edge that danced in her eyes. The light shifted around her, highlighting the dangerous glint of her satisfaction.
"I will break every bone in his body," she declared, her voice low and deliberate. "Inch by... inch." As she spoke, it was as if she could almost hear the sound of bones cracking, the echoes of his screams ringing in her ears. The thought thrilled her, sending a shiver of excitement down her spine.
"And I will keep him alive," Peng Xiu continued, her words flowing like a dark lullaby. "I will torture him to my heart’s content. Oh, and I will also torture his loved ones and make him watch." The giggle that escaped her lips was chilling, a sound that held no joy but rather pure malice.
