Something was off.

"No!"

I shook my head—a lot of things were off with the situation.

Numerous anomalies caught my attention, but I knew that dwelling on them would only squander precious time.

With the impending Chaos catastrophe this world had to suffer, the skill Chaos Medium held immense significance for me.

’It’s a trump card, a unique method only I can wield,’ I mused.

In the realm of whole mankind, there were only two known approaches for handling Chaos energy.

First was to purify it with holy-creation energy, which was what the protagonist of this world, Adam, and other people with divine-type classes use.

Or second, to overwhelm it with quantity, aka a large amount of mana, which was also the most common method used by players in this world or hunters in Daisy’s world.

However, there was no method by which you could directly control the Chaos energy in any sort of way.

Daisy’s technique of pushing Chaos energy into her blood was as close as humans could get to controlling Chaos energy in their bodies by pushing it with their mana.

However, that too was akin to a drop in the vast ocean.

Besides, it would speed up the spread of their Chaos curse and wasn’t worth it.

Even Chaos worshippers had to risk their lives or make huge sacrifices to tap into Chaos energy, still unable to wield it themselves.

In this context, Chaos Medium was nothing short of a game-changer—the sole means to manipulate Chaos energy without adverse consequences.

I could now not only use it to expell or transfer Chaos energy, but could also make myself or others a medium of Chaos energy.

Creating scenarios akin to Daisy’s power boosts through Chaos energy or secretly poisoning someone with Chaos would be just child’s play to me.

Of course, Daisy’s method was self-destructive, but I could eliminate all the risks.

Not to mention all of its possibilities with Chaos Ritual.

Just the thought of it was mind boggling.

Given all these factors, my decision was swift as I responded to the System without hesitation.

"I will not merge the skills, not until I am certain of the outcome."

[Command Recieved]

With this, I, too was now a player in the grand scheme of things.

’I never thought I would arrive at this point so soon, hehe.’

Chuckling to myself, I took a last look at my status panel.

"The stats of an average level 50 player. Decent enough."

Despite my arrogant statement, deep satisfaction reflected in my eyes, which soon got closed as I too drifted off to a peaceful sleep.

.....

"Master!!!"

Charlotte screamed in shock, rushing in front of me as if to shield me, her trembling finger pointing at Daisy as though she’d glimpsed a ghost.

It was early in the morning, and I had just emerged from the room with Daisy after freshening up. As I opened the door, I unexpectedly ran into Charlotte, who had come running upon hearing the door’s latch.

That’s how we found ourselves in this situation, but it wasn’t entirely unforeseen, so I remained unperturbed.

"No need to shout so loudly in the morning, Charlotte!"

Lifting Charlotte by her armpits from behind, I gently moved her to the side, and she immediately turned toward me with her pouty expression, her fingers still directed at Daisy.

"But, Master, you... you see this girl!"

"You think I can’t see her?"

"Oh, no, that’s not what I meant... I meant, who is she? When did she come here?"

She inquired, only to receive a light tap on her head from my hand.

Bam!

"Ouch!"

Charlotte grabbed her head once more, theatrically exaggerating the pain.

"Behave, Charlotte!"

Hearing my stern tone, Charlotte realized her slip-up, adopting a pitiful expression while speaking in a cute, toddler-like manner, her big round eyes fixed on me.

"Sholly!"

Observing her adorable antics, my heart couldn’t help but soften a bit.

I was well aware of Charlotte’s playful nature and understood that she hadn’t intended to intrude. Her slip-up was simply a result of her vivacious character.

Despite this knowledge, I had reprimanded her, not out of cruelty but because it was essential to maintain the established dynamics of our master-shadow relationship.

Yet she was still my beloved Charlotte, whom I had missed dearly in the Quick Instance World, and seeing her playful demeanor after so long brought me happiness.

So, I decided not to press the matter further, sighed inwardly, and affectionately rubbed her head.

"It’s alright."

"Hehe."

She responded with contentment, her face breaking into a smile. Then she recalled something and looked up at me.

"Oppsie, I forgot to wish you... Good morning, Master!"

"Good morning to you too. I’m delighted to see you’re doing well."

"Thank you, Master. Did you get a good night’s sleep?"

"I did. What about you?"

"Oh, you won’t believe it. I had the best sleep in years—"

With that, Charlotte started speaking of her dream. I removed my hand from her head, and we continued chatting as we made our way to the dining area.

Beside me, I sensed emotions of jealousy, anger, and envy, but I chose to disregard them, focusing instead on reconnecting with my Shadow, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time.

....

Soon, Charlotte, Rachael, Sharon, Daisy, and I were seated around the dining table, and the maids began serving our food.

The addition of a new member surprised both Sharon and Rachael, but they handled it better than Charlotte, refraining from asking questions and patiently waiting for their meals.

Nonetheless, an awkward atmosphere enveloped us, something I had expected. So I decided it was time to break the ice.

Clap! Clap!

I clapped my hands twice to grab their attention and gestured with my eyes for Daisy to stand.

"Allow me to introduce Daisy. She’s an old friend of mine, and she tragically lost her family during a Dungeon breakout, so she will be staying with us for a few weeks."

Upon hearing about Daisy’s situation, Charlotte cast me a suspicious glance.

Sharon nodded and expressed her understanding; she greeted Daisy, who reciprocated; and Rachael, who believed everything I said, wore a sad expression at Daisy’s plight.

"Sister Daisy, please sit with us. You’ve already met Charlotte and Ms. Sharon, and I am Rachael. You don’t need to be shy around us."

"Thank you, Sister Rachael."

Daisy gratefully nodded and took her seat next to Rachael, engaging in conversation about favorite foods.

Seeing them bond warmed my heart, but before any of them could inquire further about Daisy, I spoke up again.

"Also, please be aware that Daisy is afflicted with a peculiar curse."

"Curse?"

Sharon cautiously asked, her voice laced with concern.

The word caught everyone’s attention, and I nodded in confirmation.

"Yes, it’s a type of Chaos curse."

"..."

"..."

Silence!

Charlotte and Sharon’s expressions grew serious at the mention of the word "Chaos," and even Daisy felt nervous, recognizing the serious atmosphere at the mention of her Chaos curse.

Only Rachael remained blissfully unaware for a moment, but the growing tension in the air soon caught her attention, making her adopt a serious demeanor.

Their reaction was as expected, and realizing their concern, I decided to alleviate their worries with the explanations I had prepared.

"No need to fret about her curse. As I mentioned, it’s a peculiar curse..."

But before I could finish my sentence, Sharon interjected with a concerned and urgent tone.

"Young Master, it’s still a Chaos curse."

"Ms. Sharon, I suggest you remember your position and refrain from interrupting me when I speak."

My voice was cold and authoritative, reflecting my status as the heir of the Vaiself family, not only in this world but also in the Nexus World through Axel’s traits.

This immediately made Sharon lower her head subconsciously.

"I deeply apologize for overstepping, Young Master. But this matter concerns your safety, and I felt compelled to..."

This time, I didn’t allow her to finish her sentence and interrupted her midway.

"That’s why I said to listen carefully. Daisy’s curse isn’t volatile; it won’t suddenly erupt. It’s a peculiar curse that has altered her memory."

I paused, scanning the table to gauge their confused expressions. Satisfied with their reactions, I continued.

"Even though Daisy is an awakened like us, this curse has caused her to forget almost everything about this world and has severed her connection to the System."

"What?!"

Both Charlotte and Sharon lost their composure this time, finding it absurd that an awakened player could lose their System connection.

However, my serious demeanor left them with no choice but to believe it.

To be honest, I could have provided another explanation for Daisy’s situation or simply not mentioned the Chaos curse at all, and the matter would have been resolved.

But I still did it intentionally.

Only for one reason.

It was a test—a test to check how deep the water was running in my family and what my father’s attitude would be towards chaos-related things.

Despite knowing what I wished to do, I wanted to know how much my father would support me here.

Because, depending on the information I would get from doing this all, I had to plan for Rachael’s awakening event.

Fortunately, at least Sharon doesn’t seem to have much trouble, as she acknowledged the matter.

"I apologize, Young Master, for my previous actions."

"No worries. Just make sure to assist Daisy and explain anything she inquires about."

"Of course, that goes without saying."

Following our brief conversation, we continued our breakfast. Daisy asked several questions, which Charlotte and Sharon patiently answered.

Unsurprisingly, she was shocked by the existence of the system, a status window, and many other things that were exactly like a game and were so different from her world.

Noticing this prompted a smile to appear on my face.

’Now, I have to see my father’s reaction when I meet him,’ I thought as I resumed my meal.

But just when I believed breakfast would continue peacefully, Rachael’s voice brought me back to reality.

"Adrian!"

I set my fork down and looked at her.

"Hmm?"

Unbeknownst to me, a bad omen suddenly gripped my heart before she even finished speaking.

My eyes instantly grew serious, and soon my heart sank as I listened to Rachael’s next words, my earlier premonition proving true.

"I had a strange dream last night, and ever since I woke up, I’ve been feeling this tingling sensation all over my body. I think... I’m about to awaken."

"What?!!!"
