Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 790 - 350, Grand Wedding (Part 2)
After the wedding ceremony, everyone left in order, as per etiquette, the next event was a grand banquet.
Almost sixty percent of the guests left immediately; most of them had important duties or were in a hurry, or they were guests who were not important and did not have much connection with Laine or Surya's family, and they mostly bid farewell first.
Over three hundred people stayed to attend the following banquet. At this moment, whether they were Wood Elves, Dwarfs, Imperial people, or Brittania people, during this celebratory moment, all previous grievances were temporarily set aside, and everyone enjoyed the drinks and delicacies amidst laughter and joy.
This type of banquet is indeed an excellent way to strengthen everyone's relationships, but unfortunately, it cannot be held frequently and requires a good enough reason.
Inside the Lake Fairy Cathedral, two kinds of tables were prepared; there were round tables reserved only for the Holy Grail Knights and their families, along with long tables and open spaces for various factions. It seemed to be well-prepared, with Dwarfs and Elves kept far apart to avoid conflicts. The seats for Wood Elves were in the far corner, followed by High Elves, and next were the Imperial faction's long seats, the Batonians' round tables, and the Dwarfs' small tables and benches.
Apart from the large seating outside, inside there were also two small round tables, occupied by Laine and Surya's friends and family, the Norman family, the Francois family, Griffin Duke Ivan and his legitimate son Anton, Laine's four Kingdom Knights Olivier, Hex, Lops, Armand seated together, along with Boris Prince-Elector and Grand Master Axel.
The atmosphere at the other small table was somewhat strange, with the Jialan Witch Veronica, the female sorcerer Teresa, the Dark Elf Ollica, Little Maid Amelia, and Lake God Witch Mogiana all sitting there. They all seemed unhappy, aside from them, there was Laine's friend, recently awarded a noble title, the Half-Elf Estelle, Laine's childhood friend Alfred, and Laine's business partner Oliver.
Angerong and five Primarchs were absent; they left after the ceremony. Except for Angerong, the five Primarchs were preparing to return. Zhuangsen privately told Laine that the Primarchs were not so free to accompany Laine on his honeymoon; too many things awaited them. Their attendance at the wedding was already commendable, and they would set off for Terra the next day.
Before leaving, Zhuangsen directly pressed the red button hard, and Vulcan carried off Magnus, who had been knocked out by an explosion.
"Afu, you were really gone long enough." Laine, holding his newlywed bride, addressed Alfred, who was wearing a white tuxedo, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
This childhood friend of Laine chose to leave Laine's territory for penance two years ago and only recently returned to Brittania. He was also thirty years old now; the once young Paladin had grown a short beard, matured significantly. Alfred smiled at Laine: "Suffering and trials make us stronger, my friend, this long penance has honed my mind."
No one knew what Alfred went through on the expedition, but the scars on his face and body told of extraordinary experiences. Laine couldn't help him with it; Alfred's penance was quite similar to a Holy Grail Knight's Holy Grail Expedition, emphasizing independence and minimal reliance on outside forces.
"May the light of the God of Justice bless you, Alfred. No need for more words; just drink up." Laine poured a glass of red wine for Alfred.
"Congratulations on your wedding!" Alfred nodded. Ten years ago, they were just teens; ten years later, Laine was a Count and Divine Chosen Champion, and Alfred was a mature Paladin. They were both stepping into their prime.
"May you also find your true love soon," Laine said with a smile.
"Mr. Alfred, please drink this cup to the fullest," Surya, dressed lavishly, added with a smile.
"Heh~ I'll leave it to fate," Alfred replied with a bitter smile.
The Paladin seemed to have experienced something during his penance; Laine had a feeling but refrained from asking in this setting.
"I propose a toast to everyone." Taking advantage of Laine and Alfred's conversation, Surya approached Veronica and others with a bright smile, raising her glass, "To everyone's health, please drink this cup to the fullest."
Everyone stood and drank a glass of wine.
Surya then toasted Veronica individually: "Miss Veronica, please."
Veronica, wearing a white voile leaf gown, was the first to stand. She raised a goblet filled with red wine, a sweet smile on her face: "Thank you, at least Lady Surya is willing to offer this loser some compassion."
"We are different, but I respect you." Surya gracefully accepted Veronica's "defeat declaration," sipping her red wine, "I defeated you only by birth; later you can choose one set from nine sets of jewelry, this is my gift to you."
"No, Lady Surya, for you to say such words, it means you surpassed me in more than just birth." Veronica sighed, "In the future, I hope you'll give me some space."
"I will." Surya continued to toast: "Lady Trovik?"
