Chapter 155: A Moment of Life and Death

Moxinke rushed towards Sunier and stood in front of her after she got struck by the arrows. Cessacioun immediately created a magic shield that enveloped all of them along with a magic shield in front of them for added protection.

Han Jin stared straight ahead with a vacant look. Though he already used the Spirit Possession Operation, he was still unable to help both Reg and Sunier as everything happened so abruptly. Before he knew it, Sunier and Reg were already severely injured.

The fight between Reg and the assassin was nearly at an end. After being hurt by Yalina’s magic scroll and Reg’s dagger, the assassin was totally drained. Though he had still managed to hurt Reg with his powerful strength, he was no longer a threat.

Suddenly, a faint cry came from the woods. Han Jin’s face changed immediately after hearing it. After waving his wrist, a wooden giant appeared beside Reg.

Along with the wooden giant came a ray of dark light, shooting arrows towards the wooden giant directly. Reg staggered a few steps back, covered his wound then vanished into thin air.

Han Jin silently stared at the woods. Although the archer had shot twice, Han Jin still could not find her exact position.

Moxinke and Cessacioun did not dare to move. The black arrows were even faster than those which Sunier shot, so both of them stayed beside Sunier and closely watched their surroundings.

The young magicians were squatting around Yalina and crying with faces full of grief. Fortunately, the enemies didn’t care about this group of young magicians and hence didn’t launch an attack targeted at them. However, the genius magus was now lying on the ground breathless, her body covered in blood. It was hard to know whether she was still alive or not.

Han Jin snorted and the wooden giant which had saved Reg started to move. It punched the dying assassin, causing blood to gush out from his mouth and nose immediately.

The wooden giant didn’t stop but threw its fists downwards successively. The deep sound of pounding echoed throughout the woods, giving it a sense of brutality. The assassin finally fell down. He no longer had any strength left to spit out blood, let alone stand. However, the wooden giant did not stop. Each time one of its fists landed on the assassin, his body would twitch.

Finally, the archer hidden in the woods couldn’t help but shout in a hoarse voice, “All of you shall die!”

A beam of dark light shot out from the woods straight towards the wooden giant. Although its head was already injured, its fists were still pounding down heavily.

The archer paused for a moment. Then came the sound of an intense drawing of a bowstring, after which more arrows immediately gushed out from the woods, all of which were targeted at the wooden giant.

With magic attached to the arrows, they didn’t simply pierce through the wooden giant but explode successively. In the blink of an eye, both arms of the wooden giant were blown off.

Han Jin finally found the archer’s position. He dashed forward immediately, but with just two steps forward, he stopped in astonishment.

The archer was not alone. There was a magician beside her who was in his thirties or even slightly older. He was dressed in a red robe along with a doll-like face. His facial expression gave him a carefree feeling; but still, Han Jin sensed danger from him.

“Why did you come so late?” the archer asked in a hoarse voice.

“What do you mean, Daisy?” The magician frowned. “You were the one who told me not to follow you because I couldn’t hide my breath of element in front of Yalina. You’re now blaming me for this? I came as soon as possible after receiving your signal. How much faster do you think I could be?”

“But…” The archer paused and realized that she should not be blaming him. After all, everything had happened so abruptly that the battle almost finished in an instant. “But… Upton…”

“I know.” The magician gazed at Han Jin. “This puppet manipulator did this, didn’t he?”

“Don’t kill him so easily!” said the archer, gnashing her teeth. “I will torture him!”

“As you wish.” The magician hesitated. “In fact… It isn’t a bad thing for you to leave Upton. Don’t be so sad,” as he said this, the magician showed no sign of sadness at all. On the contrary, his lips curled up; showing a hint of a veiled smile.

“Terrence!” the archer growled.

“Well, well. Forget about what I said.” The magician laughed, walking out of the woods slowly.

The archer stared icily at the back of the magician before fixing her eyes on Moxinke, who suddenly paused and started retreating slowly. Moxinke wanted to help Han Jin but comparatively, Sunier was in a more dangerous position after being pinned to the tree. If the archer continued to shoot Sunier, Moxinke was afraid that Cessacioun alone wouldn’t be able to handle it.

“Let me introduce myself; my name is Terrence,” the magician smiled and said to Han Jin. After a pause, he lifted his magic wand. A ring of ice appeared around him and started to spread out, sweeping Reg away. Fortunately, Reg was quick enough to get out of the ice ring with a somersault and then vanish into the air again.

“Best stay away from me, thief.” The magician whose name was Terrence laughed. “It is very dangerous to challenge a professional by jumping the ranks. Take this warning from Upton!”

Han Jin had already started moving towards Terrence. He knew that he would not be able to defeat a magician in a long-range fight, thus he had to take the initiative, which was in fact still in passivity.

“Bold bastard,” Terrence sneered and lifted his magic wand again. Puffs of white mist appeared around Han Jin and chased after him quickly.

Han Jin felt the air getting colder and colder. The mist attached to him turned into bright ice crystals, which were quickly increasing in number and thickness.

Han Jin shrunk down and disappeared soundlessly just like Reg.

Terrence was stunned. However, the next moment, Han Jin rose up from behind, punching the magician’s back.

Just when Han Jin’s fist was going to hit his target, a piece of mirror-like material appeared on Terrence’s back. The collision created a loud sound. It was the Ice Armor released by the magician!

With the tremendous force exerted by Han Jin, the Ice Armor still broke into several pieces and Han Jin’s fist fell directly on Terrence’s shoulder.

Han Jin would not change his target even if his shoulder was not a vital part. At this moment, Terrence turned around suddenly and thrust his magic wand towards Han Jin.

The first round of attacks caused both of them to be injured while no one got the upper hand. Terrence stumbled a few steps forward while Han Jin let out a dull groan.

Terrence looked at Han Jin in surprise. “You are a puppet manipulator?”

“You are a magician?” Han Jin asked back without replying. The opponent’s strength was so strong that his chest still faintly hurt even though his body had been strengthened by the Spirit Possession Operation. What would the result be if the magician used a knife instead of a magic wand?

Terrence showed a vicious smile and moved his shoulder. Obviously the wound from Han Jin was not comfortable either. “Forgot to tell you that I am a battlemage, a pure battlemage!”

“Then I am a battle puppet manipulator,” Han Jin said with no expression on his face.

“Interesting.” Terence grinned and began to chant incantations.

Han Jin dashed forward as quick as lightning and the two of them were close to each other already. In an instant, Han Jin had nearly reached Terrence, who stepped back immediately and waved his magic wand. A muddy semicircular ice wall appeared that slowly surrounded Terrence within it. Under his foot, there was a layer of ice that was as bright as a mirror, which had apparently been used to guard against Han Jin’s attack from underground.

Han Jin punched against the wall of ice. Countless cracks appeared on the point of collision.

Han Jin took a deep breath. Then, both his fists fell on the wall successively and alternatively like numerous raindrops, leaving innumerable afterimages in the air. Ice flakes spattered in all directions and covered his head in a thick glittering layer.

Terrence’s incantation had finally finished. With the movement of his magic wand, snowflakes started falling down in the stuffy forest. One, two… and then countless snowflakes drifted and fell slowly. Both figures were shrouded and could no longer be seen from outside.

The snowflakes didn’t fall onto the ground directly but span and floated around Terrence like living elfins; glittering, translucent and beautiful.

Han Jin could see nothing but an endless white world. He had to close his eyes. The snowflakes were like countless sharp weapons surrounding him and cutting into his flesh. Before he closed his eyes, he already saw lots of crevices on his sleeves.

Suddenly, a crack appeared on the wall of ice and a white snowball shot out. Han Jin was hit before he could even protect himself. Then came the wild laugh of Terrence. “Haha! Battle puppet manipulator? No one can defeat me in my Protection of Wind and Snow! Come on! Show me your power!”

“Leave me alone. Raphael needs help,” said Sunier while gnashing her teeth. The arrow had injured her gut, thus causing her to cough from time to time. Blood was gushing out from her mouth and nose. Neither Moxinke nor Cessacioun dared remove the arrow. They were not priests. The only one who could save Sunier was Raphael!

Moxinke hesitated. The archer in the distance seemed to have sensed what they were thinking as suddenly, a black arrow along with a shrill whistle flew towards Sunier.

Moxinke wielded his giant sword abruptly and warded the arrow off. With a loud sound, a puff of sparks exploded on his giant sword. Moxinke staggered back a few steps and nearly collided with Sunier.

Cessacioun and Moxinke gazed at each other; their hearts sank. How could Cessacioun protect Sunier alone if Moxinke left?

“Go!” Sunier shouted. “Help Raphael!”

“I…” Moxinke did not know how to reply.

“Are you going to help him or not?” this said, Sunier suddenly grabbed the arrow.

“No! Sunier, no!” Moxinke’s face turned ghastly pale.

Just then, a loud roar came. It was the Hydra! Any magic released had a time limit. At this point, the effect of the lightning net had become weaker and weaker.

“Haha…” Terrence’s laughter turned wilder. “Seems like you should try to defeat me as soon as possible. Otherwise, even if I don’t do it myself, the Hydra will kill you all.”
